Would you report a hairdresser for still working at the moment?

I’m not usually one for reporting people, but where we are has some of the highest Covid rates in the whole of the U.K. Our local hospital is on its knees and staff have even been on the local news begging people to abide by the rules, yet today I log into social media to see that some silly cow has had her hair done and actually tagged the hairdresser that did it! I mean how fucking stupid and entitled can you possibly be?! It’s actually made me quite angry as today I learned that someone who lived near me has died of Covid at just 40 leaving a wife and kids.

I mean what is the fucking point in any of us following the rules when you have twats like this doing what the hell they like? I really do feel the need to report them but wouldn’t know where to start?

@Toddlermum1256

Do you know all her circumstances then ? Do you know if she’s in debt? Just because someone died in your area doesn’t mean you have to go around being a snitch now. You reporting her to the police is not going to stop people dying.. your a very cruel person. Don’t you think everyone is miserable enough ? Just because your bitter your sticking to the rules 100% some people don’t have a choice and need money or they won’t eat or pay bills.
‘Go around being a snitch’? You sound about ten years old. Grow up. People are dying, the NHS is on its knees and ICU is at breaking point. Yes I’m bitter, yesterday a family lost a father, husband and son. Who’s going to put food on his families table now?

Oh and it’s ‘you’re’ not ‘your’.

If I could be sure of the facts I would but be careful in case the hairdresser is a lone friend bubbled with them or vice versa, or if it's a picture from a while back that she's only just posted.

AlwaysLatte · 12/01/2021 09:50

Oh sorry, I didn't read your reply. So it was recent. Still be careful to get it right though and absolutely report.

movingonup20 · 12/01/2021 09:55

It's stupid yes, wrong yes, but the hairdresser might be in a very difficult situation if self employed for less than 2 years, benefits do not pay mortgage costs, she might be working to stave off repossession and feed her kids

augustusglupe · 12/01/2021 10:25

No I wouldn't.
My DDs hairdressers has had to permanently close. She found out this morning. They're all devastated at the place.
Maybe on one of the pointless coronavirus updates Hancock could share the suicide figures with us on one of his many graphs!
Also maybe share with us exactly why football is being allowed to continue when people wearing masks and visors with all safety measures in place are not allowed to continue their work.

Toddlermum1256 · 12/01/2021 11:16

Some people want to take there own risks , You don’t know what’s going on in there life I’m taking a guess here that some of people commenting to report are sitting at home with savings in the bank and there bills paid. Some of us are totally skint and being in debt leads to mental health problems , if someone feels they need to work in secret and are desperate for money I don’t judge them. Yes what is going on in hospitals is awful but so is mental health and homelessness which had massively gone up.

Toddlermum1256 · 12/01/2021 11:21

@GoldenLabbie

You know commenting on someone’s grammar makes you sound very childish ?🤣

People are dying from other things aswell I don’t know why you think it’s upto you to take the law into your own hands ?
It’s sad someone’s died but that doesn’t mean you need to go around reporting everyone thinking your solving the pandemic ...your not. You don’t need to create more misery just stay at home of your worried about catching it and mind your own business.

LimitIsUp · 12/01/2021 11:22

They are not "taking their own risks" though. They could pass on the infection and lead to the illness or death of a someone that their clients come into contact with.

It doesn’t matter though does it because it’s not an "actual" covid death. Only those count these days.

Bluesmartiesandpandapop · 12/01/2021 13:23

They might have been covered if the hairdressing was for charity, advertising, training etc. I would do your research first.

Well said.

PurpleMustang · 12/01/2021 18:36

I would ring 101 for the non emergency police and let them deal with it from there

LimitIsUp · 12/01/2021 21:16

Except there is no evidence (only speculation) that suicide
rates have increased during 2020 <a class="break-all" href="//%5Bwww.newstatesman.com/politics/health/2020/11/suicide-rate-UK-pandemic-lockdown-corona-virus-covid" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">[https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/health/2020/11/suicide-rate-UK-pandemic-lockdown-corona-virus-covid

CrazyCatLover · 12/01/2021 22:39

Yup report her- totally selfish behaviour and unprofessional behaviour. She deserved to be fined, utterly sick of selfish people like her.

rosielicious · 12/01/2021 23:05

Yes definitely. I work on a Covid ward and it is heartbreaking. So much worse than last time. So fed up with selfish people thinking the rules don't apply to them.

There may not be definitive evidence at this stage because the data is still being gathered and analysed. However, there is clear evidence of a severe mental health impact, and predictions of increased suicide rates as a direct result of the mental health impact of the pandemic, as was found with the SARS pandemic.

Here's just one article

LimitIsUp · 13/01/2021 12:37

I agree, intuitively lockdown will contribute to greater mental health issues and ultimately when the data is finalised this may be quantifiable

All life is precious and I don't want to minimise the possibility of increased suicide - should this happen - but I very much doubt addititonal lockdown related suicides will equate to >80,000 (current Covid deaths, but expected to top 100,000 within the next few weeks)

I detest lockdown and the awful consequences it has for some - but it really is the least worst option currently and there is no viable short term alternative. People like the hairdresser in this scenario are contributing to lengthening the duration of the lockdown for all of us and putting others at risk.

Orchidflower1 · 14/01/2021 10:14

So @GoldenLabbie did you report?
I really hope you did.
