@FleeingBlue yes, same here, no one should contact their surgeries, but unfortunately many people are. Just to clarify I meant to follow surgeries on social media, not to contact them, as that’s how we have found out when to expect that our relative will receive their invite and vaccine date.

Still no daily data Sad

😮at the maniacal tone!

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum - you shouldn't place too much reliance on removing "underlying conditions", the grouping contains a number of illnesses that would not usually cause early death.

MRex · 14/01/2021 18:50

Mania!?! Ha. Standard IT.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 14/01/2021 19:04

48682 cases

Jenasaurus · 14/01/2021 19:07

Its the missing deaths that concerns me

GetOffYourHighHorse · 14/01/2021 19:09

Oh sorry I've just seen @PatriciaHolm posted that earlier!

Not much of a drop at all considering the level of restrictions.

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 14/01/2021 19:09

If you go onto the testing section it states that due to an issue with the processing of deaths data the update tonight is delayed

GetOffYourHighHorse · 14/01/2021 19:11

Yes they must know the whole country is waiting and waiting. Honestly how hard can it possibly be to have the IT side of it slick and on time.
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 14/01/2021 19:26

PatriciaHolm

Thank you I will try knocking up my own table.

SusannahSophia · 14/01/2021 19:30

884 PHE hospital deaths today, vs 1012 yesterday, so hopefully not a spike in deaths.

Hi
Yes I know. I just said about it having the underlying health conditions on it to help some remember it.
It was the deaths laid out by age in a easy to follow table I was after. Every thing else I have seen is percentages or a graph.
Thanks

littleowl1 · 14/01/2021 19:39

Jeez, still not updated. Phhhh......

InhabitantofPlagueIsland2021 · 14/01/2021 19:53

Due to an issue with the processing of deaths data, the update for 14 January 2021 is delayed.

InhabitantofPlagueIsland2021 · 14/01/2021 19:53

That message now showing on the Dashboard.

InhabitantofPlagueIsland2021 · 14/01/2021 19:56

Although the cases map hasn’t been updated either!

While we wait... appreciate not quite data, so happy to be told to take it elsewhere. But what are people's theories about the UK, South Africa and Brazil variants and updates to the vaccines?

We've been told Oxford AZ, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines can all be tweaked to be more effective, and we know these mutated strains are coming, they can be held off but not stopped. I can't see anything explaining from any of the 3 companies nor MRHA what the actual strategy is here. Why not "tweak" the vaccines immediately before more are vaccinated, so the strain is as close as possible to what will be the prevalent mutations (Brazil possibly if that's the most mutated)? Is it to avoid worrying potential recipients by playing into anti-vax "untested" conspiracies, thereby threatening numbers being vaccinated? Are they testing now and planning to release it as the new or booster with test results, but not wanting to risk people deferring their vaccine? Am I over-simplifying that future mutations are more likely to be variations on these strains?

herecomesthsun · 14/01/2021 20:18

I suspect there are various experiments afoot on those lines - but we don't really know what direction things are going to take.

MarshaBradyo · 14/01/2021 20:20

Doesn’t it take about 6 weeks to tweak vaccine?

So they can work on it but wouldn’t make sense to stall and wait

Wakeupin2022 · 14/01/2021 20:23

I suspect they are already working on it.

But companies will probably want to hold off as it could get a bit tricky commercially I imagine if vaccine doesn't work only a few weeks after approval.

Its still to early to tell and it will also be cheaper to continue to manufacture existing formula.

MRex · 14/01/2021 20:25

Thanks, I hadn't seen a timeframe, that would allow adjustment before anyone's Oxford booster. So just some Pfizer to repeat. Does anyone know if they can pick RNA from a range of potential variation, to cover different possible directions of travel, or if the mutation has to have already happened for them to have the RNA available to use?

JanuaryChill · 14/01/2021 20:29

Really interesting prog on R4 at the moment about NHS being "overwhelmed" - what this might mean, stats, whys and wherefores...
