Exercise is now once a day by law?

I’m confused. I thought Boris said it was unlimited. It definitely says once a day in the new lockdown guidance:

You can continue to exercise alone, with one other person or with your household or support bubble. This should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area. You should maintain social distancing. See exercising and meeting other people.

[quote donewithitalltodayandxmas]@PurpleDaisies it is a factor to take into account , what if car can't be fixed roadside , if your 10 mins from home not so bad , 50 miles a little trickier as you can't walk back

That’s a seriously big “what if”....

Catcoffeecake · 06/01/2021 19:43

That's how I interpreted the sentence. Made sense to me as the aim is limiting contact. Like most information coming from the government, it's as clear as mud, which is why people are interpreting it in varying ways.

PurpleDaisies · 06/01/2021 19:43

And ten minutes drive from home is a pretty long walk...

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 06/01/2021 19:47

I have Green Flag cover and you remain in your vehicle while it is being towed or transported so no you don't have to walk so why make up that you do

Why are you making up all this rubbish

Chloemol · 06/01/2021 19:52

And here we go again. Good old MN and it’s ‘common sense’. It’s once a day, no time limit

Following the ducking rules, no walking dogs is animal welfare and bike ride is exercise.
Dont follow the rules then quit whinging ,whining and bashing the Government as we stay in lockdown for longer

PurpleDaisies · 06/01/2021 20:00

Why can’t I go for two half an hour walks instead of one hour long walk? I live rurally and don’t see anyone. I don’t drive to start my walk.

Whatever9999 · 06/01/2021 20:01

@Apollo3

And? Not something we want to aspire to, is it?

It should be. If you weren't all trying to ignore the guidelines and get around the rules to suit yourselves, you wouldn't be in such a mess.

Once a day, near your home. Just stop being dicks and stick to the simple rule.

The guidelines say I can meet and train with my PT in a public place, is that acceptable to you? They also say I can leave my home to escape harm, when everything gets too much I have a meltdown, the only way I can prevent that is to go out and run, is that OK with you? It was ok in the first lockdown, in fact it was actually recognised that some people needed to get out and exercise more than once. Anyhow the once a day is guidance not law. I can do plenty of exercise in the house/garden and believe me I do do plenty. But I'm used to being out and about, running etc, being autistic I need to keep some of that up. I've been cooped up homeschooling for the last 2 days and am now struggling. Tomorrow I will be out running, very probably for more than an hour, its the best thing for both me and my family. Next week I will hopefully be meeting with my PT as we normally do, while I'll hopefully combine my run by running to or from the session, its very possible I will be out exercising more than once a day.

But I will also be keeping my distance from others. I prefer people not to get in my personal space anyway and get very frustrated at all the walkers that don't get the concept of single file and yet still tut at me for daring to run

Cleverpolly3 · 06/01/2021 20:05

What about walking your children to and from school ?
That’s more than once

No capacity for this to be enforced anywhere

PurpleDaisies · 06/01/2021 20:07

That’s accessing education, not exercise. Assuming the school is open!

The horse shit and what aboutery on this thread is astounding even for MN standards

I notice you didn’t answer my question.

How are two walks more risky than one when they’re both the same length and involve meeting the same number of people (none) in my local area?

PurpleDaisies · 06/01/2021 20:09

Sorry, @Cleverpolly3, just realised I’ve mixed you up with another poster. Blush

Quite alright I think this thread has every ability to do that Grin

@WhentheDealGoesDown1 how am I making up rubbish we have been asked to stay local for exercise etc

Cleverpolly3 · 06/01/2021 20:12

@PurpleDaisies

Completely agree about the walks with nobody else etc
Curtain twitching gone absolutely mad
Incidentally I walked my three kids to school and nursery today with my dog. Two separate places
I then walked back with my dog

I’m in so much trouble

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 06/01/2021 20:12

@whatever9999 everything you are doing is within the guidelines though

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 06/01/2021 20:14

@Cleverpolly3 you are allowed to go as many times for education or work etc its purely to stop people going out multiple times a day and maybe meeting others and not everyone has the luxury of living in middle of nowhere
You could walk to the shop for food and then walk later for exercise
Bit the irony on this is many people will criticise others who break guidelines but won't see this as the same

Damn you staying fit and healthy while not putting anyone else at risk. Damn you!!!

I’ve followed all the rules. The only one I’m ignoring is going out to exercise once a day.

frasersmummy · 06/01/2021 20:16

oh ffs here we go again with people arguing about the minae of the details

If you are going out .. ask yourslef if you will interact with anyone if the the answer is no then you dont need to worry. if the answer is yes then ask yourself if its essential for you or someone who needs your help . If the answer is no ask yourself if you should .. and if the answer is yes then ask yourself what precautions you need to take

Just apply some critical thinking people

PurpleDaisies · 06/01/2021 20:16

In terms of risk, it’s pretty likely that this isn’t the same. It’s about as low risk as you can get.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 06/01/2021 20:16

@WhentheDealGoesDown1 not everyone has onward travel and not everytime is a tow available ,I have had to go in a van before now or get picked up or am I making that up

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 06/01/2021 20:16

You were making up rubbish about breakdown companies not bringing you home nothing to do with exercise. You said you would have to walk 50 miles, someone could travel 50 miles for a support bubble quite within the guidelines

AuntieStella · 06/01/2021 20:17

I liked the title of the thread, because I misinterpreted it as:

'everyone must take exercise once a day'

which I think would be a splendid idea

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 06/01/2021 20:17

@PurpleDaisies but breaking the guidelines is breaking the guidelines how do others get to choose what they believe is less riskier
So therefore do what you want but then don't frown at others for breaking the guidelines
