Did Boris actually just do that?

So did Boris emphasise on TV at the weekend that's schools were safe, then pressure parents and staff to attend school today only to lock everyone down from tonight abs shut schools as part of it? Send everyone in to mingle for a pointless day. Wtaf.

Is this leadership? I am struggling to think of how he could be more indecisive and incompetent.

Is there a means through which a PM can be removed?

Sturgeon doesn't have better advisors, we are one kingdom still, what Sturgeon does is listen and take decisive action

Not waffle, delay, ponder and fuck it up

Too many flunkies he could blame, but he's not been given the top job for nothing, he's there to lead, and he's not done that - failure of duties, should be removed from post

@jasjas1973

Regarding the ppe where ther hell was he ment to order it from it was being used quicker then being made

The Tories ran down stocks, didn't take on the lessons of exercise cygnus.
Late to the party to re order, ordered the wrong stuff, gave contracts to non PPE suppliers, didn't take up offers from traditional PPE suppliers.

Where would all the extra NHS staff come from and they cant fill the nightingale hospitals full of covid patients as there is no staff

True, so why waste billions building them.... or was it just for PR ?

The Cons have failed to rectify the staffing shortages within the NHS, they removed the nurse bursary and have never lifted the cape on Dr training places.
Now with our exit from the EU, its far harder to fill these staff shortages, indeed eu staff have left the NHS.

They've been in power for 10 years.

Quite. Ten bloody years they've been running the show and they've wasted billions on failed Serco, Nightengale and have driven nurses and doctors back to the EU. I genuinely can't understand how anyone can excuse their incompetence. I didn't like Thatcher, but at least she was an able person - Boris is just a complete lightweight and not up to the job.

I genuinely fear they have gotten use to the power and it's going to be very hard to get our freedoms back.
@IfTheSockFits he really can. He can listen to science and act decisively and appropriately.
Even if that's the case, there will always be people complaining about something.

Thats true but unless you are blinded by all things Tory, its hard to see how this pandemic and vaccine rollout could have been handled more badly, considering we now have 10 months exp of what delay does.

Out of control infections in late Nov Dec... did nothing.
No teams of vaccinators trained in Oct/Nov/Dec..... all last minute.com
We were told schools safe on sunday and monday but monday evening told they are a cesspool of infection and have to close immediately.

@ancientgrain:
I hope the "hatred" extends equally across the spectrum - and Blair is "hated" too? Plenty of people hate him but not because of how he has handled the pandemic, that is all on Johnson because you know, he's the PM. It isn't Thatcher, Major, Cameron or May because they aren't PM now either or Chamberlain or Churchill, Wilson, Heath or any other previous PM.

I am referring to the term "hatred" it is ridiculous language for adults to use.

So the children’s school was in on Monday, government said “safe” and there were enough members of staff to stay open. In they went.
Monday night of course, lockdown. Schools closed. School called emergency inset to get online learning in place, which started today.
This afternoon, email from school that a child in another year has today received a positive test, and because they were in school Monday the whole bubble must now isolate. This is unlikely to be an isolated incident. Though given the amount of time it’s taking for tests to come back right now it’s possible the kid was sent in with symptoms Angry
Nice work, Boris.
