Thank you. Crying now because you have been kind... wasn’t expecting that. I know I’m being self-centred, but I’m scared. In a way the first lockdown was easier. DH spent 5 weeks trying not to die (ECV and caught covid 2 days before the shielding letter) and I suspect 3 of the kids had it too (and me!)
I was too busy taking care of everyone for anything else to matter. Now, all my problems are out of my control which is much harder.

Might there be nursing positions relating to the vaccine programme as it rolls out?

That's a good idea. There must be a nursing position available to you.

Nhs professionals may be able to offer quick way of registering etc to get bank work. It's a horrid worry for you x

Yes I saw in the news that they need HCPs to roll out the vaccine. Might this be an option?

@Canwecancel2020 I really wish there were... but I’m mental health so, although I’m more than capable, others are better qualified. Plus I’m only agency (NHS was impossible with 4dc and a DH who works/ worked long hours) so not likely to be used... they seem to be redeploying existing/ retired staff. I’ve looked into it though, so maybe if they’re desperate enough?

OP, I received a text earlier from the nursing agency I'm registered with offering work taking Covid swabs. It might be worth ringing your agency to see if they have contracts for this work, or even signing up with a few more agencies. There's definitely covid-related work out there at the moment.

I'm sure there would be plenty of agency Nursing work giving vaccines over the next few months? Do you already do that as part of your school Nursing role ? if so surely you will be snapped up to vaccinate?

I imagine they will be desperate to recruit as many people as they can who can give the vaccination. I suspect they will be delighted to have you.

Would there be any potential to use your mental health expertise to launch online seminars or activities relating to mental health? While this lockdown is necessary, that doesn't mean it won't be really difficult for lots of people who would benefit so much from your knowledge and skillset. This may provide you with some income, and it would be more flexible around your schedule. If your DH's shops are closed, he will be able to do childcare while you take less flexible hours too. I know things can be scary and upsetting, but there are lots of opportunities to be found in times like this too

Make sure you've looked at options for furlough, social security or government payments too, these schemes are going to be extended.
