It's already out of control. If he waits there will be now bringing the r down.

MrsMiaWallis · 03/01/2021 23:58

Some areas are showing a very slight drop in cases

Sobeyondthehills · 03/01/2021 23:59

How many schools are actually going back tomorrow now?

The majority of my friends all have inset days tomorrow. But I am not sure if that is just my area, although I have friends in other parts of the country who also seem to have an insert day that was arranged in September/October

sunflowerstory · 04/01/2021 00:00

Watching Boris fanny about with this decision is like watching a contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire struggle to get past the £100 question. The answer is obvious to everyone except the dumbdumb on the tv.

MrsR87 · 04/01/2021 00:00

@Redlocks28 @GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly

Exactly!

If he’s going to keep schools open then fine...ponder your next steps. Not that I agree with that path at all!!!

But, if you’re going to shut them, after letting them go in for one day/a few days/ a week, then you really are giving the country the worst of both worlds. Disruptions to education and higher transmission rates. It is sheer LUNACY!

I’m and indecisive person but this is driving even me mad!

Purplethrow · 04/01/2021 00:01

It’s bad enough being in the middle of a storm with a decent captain at the helm but we’ve got bloody Captain Pugwash ; no wonder it’s such a bleeding mess.

52andblue · 04/01/2021 00:02

@FusionChefGeoff

Oh My God.

There's a fucking BOMB of transmission about to go off tomorrow. What the fuck is the fucking point of diving onto where the grenade used to be but is now a fucking massive shitting crater in the ground???

Too pissing late, Boris. Too fucking late.

Again.

Yup. You nailed it. (Boris hasn't. Again) How MANY times can he make it worse than it needs to be? I agree that it will become a vote of no confidence in him from the public if he Carries on like this (see what I did there?)
thecatfromjapan · 04/01/2021 00:02

So, I'm guessing we're all on this thread, most of us thinking: 'This is such a fucking shambles, what next?'

I predict: Roadblocks in Tier 3 areas, stopping ambulances delivering seriously ill patients from Tier 4 areas with no hospital space.

Johnson needs to act now. Lockdown. And stop all this before it gets a lot worse.

PicsInRed · 04/01/2021 00:03

[quote covetingthepreciousthings]So , I guess this means that there will be another lockdown and schools will close ; I wonder if there will be any other restrictions?

This is what sky are suggesting.. might not be far off.

From the sky link:
Foreign travel could be completely banned

It's about fucking time isn't it. Better late than never.

MrsMiaWallis · 04/01/2021 00:04

Ignore this, I was looking at out of date numbers
2boysand1princess · 04/01/2021 00:05

If kids are all back tomorrow I think there’s now no point in another lockdown. I think it’s too late again. So if we do have another lockdown it’s going to last a lot longer than it needed to. Angry

ineedaholidaynow · 04/01/2021 00:10

What is the point of letting children go in for one day and having the potential of spreading the virus around so they can take it home to their families.

TeddysTigerEyes · 04/01/2021 00:10

Oh My Christ! This is a joke right? I know it’s not a joke though, is he reading the wrong idiots guide?

Mumofsend · 04/01/2021 00:10

What do we think will be announced re preschools and nursery?

Robinkitty · 04/01/2021 00:12

Local schools (midlands) having an inset day Monday

SMaCM · 04/01/2021 00:12

If he lets all the kids go back for a day/week and then shuts them, he'll have deaths on his hands 😡.

SMaCM · 04/01/2021 00:13

Mumofsend no idea, but all the children I care for are back tomorrow.

Bagamoyo1 · 04/01/2021 00:14

Is there anyone on mumsnet who doesn’t want a full lockdown with school closures? It’s like a parallel universe here.

jessstan1 · 04/01/2021 00:15

@Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady

I hope he makes the right decision

Lockdown and schools closed

Agree
WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 04/01/2021 00:15

@Panickingpavlova

I would love to know what constitutes a tuck shop crisis! 😂

It's pathetic isn't it.

Running out of 'Black &Reds'... in my day anyway.
Bagamoyo1 · 04/01/2021 00:15

@Sweettea1

It was on the news he wants to wait aweek to see the data from the tier system first.
I really hope this is true.
Noellodee · 04/01/2021 00:16

This is the unbelievable thing. We all know they're going to have to close schools in a matter of days. They know it. We know it. We know they know it. They know we know it.

What in the fuckiest fucking corner of fucking hell is the point in mixing all those millions of kids before we get round to actually doing it?

This is just insanity now.

ktp100 · 04/01/2021 00:18

Why the fuck wouldn't he make that decision BEFORE primary kids go back, knowing full well that a couple of days of mixing will be enough to spread through some classrooms??!!

I couldn't hate the twat more at this point, honestly. His dithering is literally costing lives. AGAIN!!!

olderthanyouthink · 04/01/2021 00:18

@MrsMiaWallis Havering is down 16.2% (2912 cases) Thurrock and Brentwood too. Numbers are awful but technically coming down.

Beebityboo · 04/01/2021 00:19

The one thing that's helping ease my anxiety about all this, is imagining how fuming Gavin is. Makes me feel all warm inside.
