Back in my day it was running out of wham bars and pickled onion space raiders 🤷‍♀️😅

Yes!

CoffeeCreamandSugar · 04/01/2021 01:48

I don’t particularly want another lockdown. I don’t particularly want the schools to close. I think the Government has handled this terribly. If we must close and the schools have to close I’d rather do it sooner than later so it doesn’t have to drag on for months and months.

Curtainsarefab · 04/01/2021 01:55

I don’t think it’s a parallel universe, I think parents in RL are massively torn and having to want things/make decisions that should be clearer if the fuzziness and data from the top wasn’t bollocks!

I have RL friends in one school completely wanting their kids in for either education or because they can’t stand them at home. And a few that absolutely want them to close and don’t want to send them.

At the other (older) school things seem less polarised and more nervous about what the right thing to do is. They all want them in but are equally nervous about the growing threat.

Whereas my sister, a primary school teacher with asthma is absolutely fucking terrified and has to be there.

It’s an absolute awful mess!

catfeets · 04/01/2021 02:11

But what will it ACTUALLY achieve? People cannot be trusted to behave. Christmas and new year has been a massive free for all for a lot of people - where I live some peoples houses seem to have a revolving door of people coming and going.
Kids have been playing out together, adults getting pissed up and inviting strangers into their houses for a party. Yet I'm sure any new infections will be completely blamed on their kids 'catching it' tomorrow at school.
If most people had just decided that they wouldn't go out over the Xmas period unless they had to for work, infections would be a lot lower. But people are cunts and feel they aren't responsible for their own behaviour because the prime minister didn't order them to stay home. Even if we end up in full lockdown again, people will ignore the rules, just like they did last time. Too many people seem to think they're exempt from following the rules properly.

Lofari · 04/01/2021 02:33

My kids won't be part of BoJos experiment. Absolutely incompetent.
Fine me if they like.

Taikoo · 04/01/2021 02:55

He's incompetent and always was.

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/01/2021 03:21

On Andrew Marr, it sounded like he wanted to do an experiment in tier 4 areas to see what opening schools would do to the rates of increase.

Wanker. A fucking experiment. How many people can I manage to kill. That sort of experiment?! Fgs how many more experiments does he need?

As has been pointed out on other threads, Eton remains closed. He’s literally experimenting on the hoi polloi.

Someone upthread said Bozo is always late “dog ate my homework”. It’s exactly this. Tons of money poured into unused nightingales, now money poured into schools for mass testing when this may never even happen. All just so we are looking the other way and not paying attention to what is around us, such as the wholesale murder of care home residents in the first wave, when Covid positive people were discharged from hospital having not been tested.

sortmylifeoutplease · 04/01/2021 03:26

@FusionChefGeoff

Oh My God.

There's a fucking BOMB of transmission about to go off tomorrow. What the fuck is the fucking point of diving onto where the grenade used to be but is now a fucking massive shitting crater in the ground???

Too pissing late, Boris. Too fucking late.

Again.

@Curtainsarefab
Maybe this is something your dsis has considered. It was posted on another thread. A poster was speculating teacher are submitting section 44 H&S due to the new variant. My understanding is that as have been no adjustments made for the new variant, this would be something a teacher could consider and can get advice from the unions. www.tuc.org.uk/blogs/can-i-refuse-work-because-coronavirus-we-explain-your-rights.

My friend is a teacher, her head was waiting from news from the Union yesterday. I didn’t check in with her to ask the outcome.

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/01/2021 03:29

Sorry speculating that teachers are perhaps submitting...

lovelemoncurd · 04/01/2021 03:39

Anyone still feel proud to have voted Tory?

I'm just glad hospital staff are more organised or we would all be fucked!

Rowgtfc72 · 04/01/2021 04:22

We're all getting tested today at work. Three factories, about 2500 people. Excellent stuff.

Except we only had Christmas day and boxing day off so weve all been back and mixing for a week.
Absolutely pointless.

Back2Black · 04/01/2021 04:50

Yet again, the government avoids taking responsibility, this time leaving it to the schools, teachers & teaching unions to make decisions.

Leak it to the press that an announcement is about to be made, guage the reaction. Then claim that x, y & z decisions had to be made due to the public's behaviour - it's not the government's fault.

I'm fed up with this game.

No but I still feel sick I voted Labour due to their appalling attitude to women.
lovelemoncurd · 04/01/2021 05:08

@Mummyoflittledragon I don't believe you did vote Labour!

LittleMimi · 04/01/2021 05:43

Starmer was right about Johnson. He comes out with things he’s thinking about doing and dithers and then implements it a week or two later. I get that it’s easier to be the opposition but that’s correct summary of Boris’ whole approach.

Plus he never wants to own any hard decision. Most leaders just get on with it and deliver the message, but his are always diluted with him going on about how he doesn’t want to be doing this etc.

HermannlovesPauline · 04/01/2021 05:47

Best go and get some more paint for the next lockdown project - I tell ya I’m going to be living in a fucking palace by the time I get my vaccine

EmmanuelleMakro · 04/01/2021 05:50

@Bagamoyo1
Is there anyone on mumsnet who doesn’t want a full lockdown with school closures? It’s like a parallel universe here
Yes, many of us but we get drowned out by the bots.

Yep.

Yes, we already have everything to do our bathroom, no excuse if there is lockdown, Garage needs a good clear out as well, DH keeps putting it off.
HermannlovesPauline · 04/01/2021 06:12

@TheAlphaandtheOmega Get that bathroom done lass - this time next year you’ll be able to soak in the tub after coming in from an all night rave and admire your good paint taste and brushwork Wine

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/01/2021 06:27
@Mummyoflittledragon I don't believe you did vote Labour!
Really?? Idc what you believe. 🙄 I live in a predominantly Tory area and there is literally no party in this country, which represents me or the average person. It is beyond me as to why I would lie. I’m married to a European and am now a dual citizen. Like fuck would I vote for a party representing Brexit and especially Bozo. Voting for a party, which believes TWAW was slightly less repulsive.

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2021 06:30

@SophieDahling

Self-selecting threads, posters typing into an echo chamber. In the real-world, I don’t think parents want this. My DC attend three different schools, so I have three separate groups of parent friends and nobody is pleased about this. Everyone wants schools open and for our children to be educated.

I just think posters avoid these threads because they’ll be shouted down by the paranoid “lock us down!” brigade.

Same here
Mummyoflittledragon · 04/01/2021 06:30

@lovelemoncurd
To add to that, my dh wasn’t in the country, I proxy voted Labour for him as well. Why spurt bollocks without advance searching a poster on their political views?

notevenat20 · 04/01/2021 06:32

I hate the way he talks as if the decisions are out of his control.

Presumably lots of practice from explaining why he has impregnated yet another mistress.
