I’m extremely nervous about sending my child back now, moved into tier 4, area we are in has increased a lot, on border of another area which has leaped in cases the last week, I am higher risk and also look after a relative who is ECV, anyone not sending their child/children back?

Unless we deregister we have no option really. The government have given us no choice Sad

TheGreatWave · 30/12/2020 17:58

I would if the school was open, alas she will have to wait till the 5th when it does.

The big two will be at home however DS will go twice a week for supported learning. *

  • Autism - you do school work at school not at home.

Are you considering this? I really don’t want to go down that route but I have already had one fine from the school

I'm not. I'm ECV. I await the fine.

Spiratedaway · 30/12/2020 18:00

We are on tier 4 and my husband a key worker so yes

Indecisive12 · 30/12/2020 18:04

Yep. Just gone in tier 4 but rates are 170/100000 which is what it has been for months if not less than before Christmas

We are also both key workers

Seriously considering it. We’re a stone’s through from some of the areas listed.

This whole thing is insane. Is any other country throwing kids, teachers and families to the sharks like this? Even Trump’s America has online learning for all kids who want it.

I got my fine very swiftly, I did think it would take a while but unfortunately not.

Throw, not through. I’d like to blame autocorrect, but it’s probably just due to typing while livid.

LacyEdge · 30/12/2020 18:07

Do we get fined once, or per day of absence? How does it work?

NovemberR · 30/12/2020 18:08

He's an exam year and his school is now closed til 11th I understand...

I think the school will be open as normal for key worker/venerable children, the return for the rest is staggered - at least that's what they seem to have been saying on the news.
NothingIsWrong · 30/12/2020 18:12

Yes I will be. I have to work, and I am out of the house. DH also.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/12/2020 18:12

Absolutely sending mine back. We are tier 4 but rates are 168 per 100k, there are tier 3 areas with higher rates.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/12/2020 18:14

We are low risk though and I need to work. I understand some parents wanting to keep their children off and think it's disgusting they are being fined and threatened.

StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2020 18:15

Yep

Divebar · 30/12/2020 18:15

Yes she’s going back. Tier 4 area. Her school had no burst bubbles the entire term.

HelloMissus · 30/12/2020 18:15

I’m sending my foster children back.
I understand other children may be vulnerable to Covid but these kids are vulnerable in so many many other ways and need to be in school.

GoldGreen · 30/12/2020 18:16

Yes. Both Keyworkers.

TragedyHands · 30/12/2020 18:16

Ours is closed until at least the 11th.
I think they'll be off for quite a while.

Whattheactual20201 · 30/12/2020 18:16

I am so relieved that our schools closed ( London borough )
I nearly cried !
I have a extremely vulnerable daughter and so glad all the kids will be home with me

Understandingnotignorance · 30/12/2020 18:18

No I'm not and am willing to go down the fine route if needs be. It defies logic that they are still going to fine parents with the exponential rise in both infection and death rates. An absolute disgrace. I also think if more parents who do not wish to send their children don't then they will be less likely to prosecute as it will be an act in numbers.

@LacyEdge

I think if they miss 10 sessions which is 5 days of school you get a warning letter, 5 more days missed and the time comes, you get 28 days to pay the fine, they can’t issue two fines in the same term I was told

Sorry the fine comes not the time
