I’m extremely nervous about sending my child back now, moved into tier 4, area we are in has increased a lot, on border of another area which has leaped in cases the last week, I am higher risk and also look after a relative who is ECV, anyone not sending their child/children back?

It's a one off fine not weekly.

TheLevyEyebrowsFancIub · 30/12/2020 18:20

Yes - mine are primary - so I can go and teach keyworkers' kids in secondary. I will be masked up and sanitised as usual, having seen literally noone over the holidays, and hope my luck doesn't run out or my kids will end up in foster care (lone parent).

lljkk · 30/12/2020 18:20

Would send them, but Not allowed to at moment. Earliest is 11th & I doubt that will proceed.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/12/2020 18:20

@user1485461206 I am considering fighting any fine. I need to work out whether prosecution would cause trouble for my job.

Bettydot · 30/12/2020 18:22

I’m not and I haven’t for a while. Not yet been fined but it’s not been easy and I imagine our luck will run out soon.

Understandingnotignorance · 30/12/2020 18:23

We all have a personal responsibility for what works for our families. The govt are not going to come and raise our children nor comfort if the worst outcome comes to truth. The threat of action and fines is disgraceful. I think do what you have to for the sake of what works for your child and if that means keeping them at home and you have the means to do so, then do so.

I have paid my fine but I am also considering fighting any other fines I may receive, slightly worried after getting the letter saying i may receive a 3 months prison sentence if I do not pay the fine

@user1485461206 oh if that's true about only one fine per term then that's good news.

BexR · 30/12/2020 18:24

How much is a fine?

If you say your child is unwell so wont be in, presumably there will be no fine? I guess that would cover a week or so.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/12/2020 18:25

It's £60 @BexR.

Is it £120 per parent if paid within 28 days or £60 per parent if paid within 21 days. I suppose if your child was unwell or isolating they would not be able to fine, I do know some parents who have said this to get out of fines

In our parents WhatsApp group we are all doing the same to avoid fines.

Dc will have ‘covid symptoms’ from Monday. We either won’t be able to get a test/ younger dc won’t tolerate it/ test couldn’t be done properly/ the results got lost.

Then some ‘d&v’ to cover the last few days.

If the school was to ask (which it won’t) GP’s will not provide proof for any of the above.

That buys us all 14 days (fine free) to see what is happening re: case numbers, school closures and this new strain.

DebbieFiderer · 30/12/2020 18:31

My primary child will go back. My secondary child could go with a key worker place but I'm keeping her at home this time as she can go to my parents' house instead, which she couldn't in the spring. Rates are much higher in the area where her school is than where we live, and I don't see the point taking the risk if we don't have to.

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 30/12/2020 18:33

Yep

CovidHalloween · 30/12/2020 18:35

We had nearly 1000 deaths today as high as the heights of the pandemic and gov is carrying on as normal. Schools should be shut. What a farce!

Grandmaschickensalad · 30/12/2020 18:36

Yes sending mine back. Our school hasn’t had any cases or even scares. To be honest I’m not sure what the right thing to do is anymore so I will just follow the guidelines for as long as I need to.

wendz86 · 30/12/2020 18:37

My area is open and they will be going on Tuesday (inset day Monday).

BunsyGirl · 30/12/2020 18:38

Well, I would if I could but it will be closed. Back to heart palpitations for me then, can’t wait.

Is your school not asking for any proof of booking tests or results or anything? Our school does

Yes because I have to work and so does dp. We aren't key workers

catgirl1976 · 30/12/2020 19:11

No

I'm going to keep him off for 2 weeks and see what happens. Either transmission in his school will remain low and I'll feel more confident sending him back or (and I think this is more likely) case will continue to rise, the government will do yet another u turn and the school will close.

Alwaysandforeverhere · 30/12/2020 19:12

Mine will be back as their schools open. Means I will have two in form Tuesday and one at home.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 30/12/2020 19:12

@Understandingnotignorance

No I'm not and am willing to go down the fine route if needs be. It defies logic that they are still going to fine parents with the exponential rise in both infection and death rates. An absolute disgrace. I also think if more parents who do not wish to send their children don't then they will be less likely to prosecute as it will be an act in numbers.
Absolutely.
Alwaysandforeverhere · 30/12/2020 19:13

Book the test show the proof of booking and then claim to of never got the results would be away around that tbh. My children school don’t ask for proof of testing just proof of negative/positive.
