Just lock us down before the vaccine!

Lock us down and be done with it until Feb/March or whenever the vaccine is established. All schools off too (health trumps education).

One last shit show, then we will never have to do it again.

The light IS at the end of the tunnel. (Vaccine, hurrah).

Let’s save lives whilst we can. We never know when we may need emergency NHS treatment.

For the record I’m not privileged, and I have three young kids who in the perfect covid free world I would much prefer to be AT school.

My friend thinks we should just get on with our lives “survival of the fittest”. Well bloody good luck with your survival rhetoric when you need a hospital bed for you or your child and there isn’t one......

Anyone else agree/disagree?

@BubbleBaubles

What because of GCSEs? I’d argue by the time a student got to year ten they had the fundamental learning basics achieved. Early years/brain development is much more significant, they have zero capacity to learn online unlike a year ten, but that’s a completely different thread all together.

I stand by what I said.

Hopefully Boris sees sense in tomorrow announcement.

Good night all.

Exactly and this is exactly how I see it on here as well it's just lazy people wanting to sit on their arses doing nothing..

How do you know what people are doing? I for instance run my own business, which against the odds we’ve kept going, meaning we have kept our employees in a job, by working more hours than ever, Xmas is the only time we’ve had off since March.
My Mil has also just been diagnosed with cancer so we running her around to numerous appts and looking after FIL. Yes we’re as lazy as fuck Hmm.

DinosaurDildo · 29/12/2020 23:48

@ScoobySnacker

It’s hard luck. Your child’s needs doesn’t trump this I’m afraid.

Suck it up buttercup.

Suck it up buttercup.

OP I don't disagree with your take on this but I actually think speaking like this to other people is really unhelpful. Lots are really struggling and they're entitled to struggle.

ScoobySnacker · 29/12/2020 23:51

@DinosaurDildo you may eat your words when your own kids are coming up to GCSE. I've totally changed my mind lockdown immediately and hang the current Y10 to 13 out to dry Hmm

Lairyfightzzzz · 29/12/2020 23:53

OP could have worded it a lot more sensitively but unfortunately GCSEs don't trump the seriousness of the situation we are currently in, which is looking worse than it did in March.

Thought you were going to sleep. After the way you have treated me in another comment and now to another pp I really think you need your sleep.

Remember COVID is not everything. What about the bekind and the support of mental
Health and the respect to others ... is it trumped by COVID as well?

ReesMoggsGlasses · 29/12/2020 23:54

Lacy lockdown wankers us basically all I'm seeing here, goodbye

Not everyone needs to be vaccinated in order to kill off the pandemic - just enough to curb its spread so it struggles to find hosts.

I’m sorry Flowers

It only is because we weren’t massively testing back in April. The hospitals are similar but back then the situation was much worse under control. Doctors back then didn’t have much Clue about how to treat the illness
Lairyfightzzzz · 29/12/2020 23:56

No, that isn't the only reason. Hospitalisations are higher and infection rates are rising more rapidly.

Lairyfightzzzz · 29/12/2020 23:57

And in any case, in April schools were closed. While they're open we won't get the numbers down.

Mumof3andlovingit · 29/12/2020 23:58

Not read the full thread, however I think first we should have an extended Xmas break. Delay a week or 2 then we should have school closure or blended learning for ks3 including the year 9 and spread the years 10-13 throughout school.
Fewer kids in classes should somewhat help and would also help the students as they would have smaller classes with their teachers allowing them to save time and hopefully catch up on work missed during the first lockdown.

According to these person we wouldn’t be back until nearly after Easter. That’s 3.5 months ahead. Is everyone willing to stay indoors January February March and April ? Because I’m not (and I’ve not seen anyone indoors or outdoors since October )

SideboardOfDoom · 30/12/2020 00:01

The entire hospitality and arts industries have been thrown under the bus for this, so I don’t see why a couple of school years aren’t expendable too. The others can catch up over time.

TheRuleofStix · 30/12/2020 00:02

It’s a desperate situation. The hospitals are broken - especially in London. I don’t know what the answer is. I think we need to close everything for a month to give the NHS a break. Properly close. No takeaways, no garden centres, no schools. Only allowed out for an hour a day and no driving to exercise.

Ease the strain on the NHS.

I don’t see another way Sad

Lairyfightzzzz · 30/12/2020 00:02

No but that's not what I'm arguing for.

Elephant4 · 30/12/2020 00:05

The vaccine is not going to be rolled out or have any great effect until 2022 - and even then we'll be lucky ...

There's no way we can all be locked down until then.

The new strain will keep on spreading. I don't see what a lockdown is going to achieve in all honesty. Every time we unlock it will get going again at it's great pace.

Op was asking Til the vaccine make effect ... and that won’t be til nearly may. One month of full lockdown won’t ease the pressure on the nhs (and we saw it back in April when 2.5months were needed)

Anyway it’s not up to mumsnwt what happens in this country.

Goodnight!

Well, that's just straight up bollocks right there.

Niche fetish, that.

Lairyfightzzzz · 30/12/2020 00:12

But it doesn't matter, we don't need everyone to get the vaccine. Just enough.
