Government apparently considering tier 5?

Alice190720 · 28/12/2020 16:52

Would this be a lockdown similar to the one in March?

OP posts:
CakeRequired · 28/12/2020 16:53

Think so yeah.

Sandalison · 28/12/2020 16:53

I haven’t read this? Is there a link you can share?

GirlCrush · 28/12/2020 16:53

i think schools closing and 'essential' retail tightening up

EagleFlight · 28/12/2020 16:54

Yes, presumably so.

KindergartenKop · 28/12/2020 16:54

Other than closing schools, tier 4 is a lockdown. So is 5 closing schools?

OP posts:
CeibaTree · 28/12/2020 16:56

These tiers are getting ridiculous now. When the govt first announced them, Tier 3 was the ‘highest’ - are they just going to keep adding them until they reach Tier 50? Just lock the country down if they have to, but they need to stop making up these nonsensical Tiers.

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 28/12/2020 16:57

What is Tier 5? Everyone stays in a vacuum-sealed pod for a fortnight?

PawPawNoodle · 28/12/2020 16:57

I'd wait for a more reputable news outlet to come out with it, so far it's just The Express that have written about it and other publications have referred back to their story.

Sandalison · 28/12/2020 16:58

Thanks. Well, I imagine closing schools. But seeing as they’ve just said schools are staying open, doesn’t seem likely...

@vodkaredbullgirl

Hmm scaremongering post.
not really...
Neolara · 28/12/2020 17:02

I'm not sure the Cambridge Evening News is the font of all knowledge...

Meepmeeep · 28/12/2020 17:03

Tier 6 imminent - looking out the window now banned.

BrumBoo · 28/12/2020 17:05

@vodkaredbullgirl

Hmm scaremongering post.
How so? The fact they've already raised their tier system shows its not impossible (though I would say that 5 is a silly idea and may as well just call it full lockdown). The schools could very well close for January as it is, that is also far from unrealistic.
PistolKnight · 28/12/2020 17:05

This was reported as a speculation piece on the express last week before the new tiers were announced. This is a rehash of that - not new.

listsandbudgets · 28/12/2020 17:06

What now?

Are they going to shut us in and only allow us out for supervised exercise in batches based on first letter of our surname for an hour at a time and send the military round to leave weekly ration boxes on everyone's doorstep?

A big black cross on the doors of the afflicted?

Compulsory masks as soon as you so much as open the window?

Dread think think what they've got in mind

EagleFlight · 28/12/2020 17:07

I would imagine the basis of the speculation is because we’ve been told that for schools to open in January, which the English government plan to do (primary, at least) that we will have to compromise elsewhere.

CakeRequired · 28/12/2020 17:08

Tier 6 imminent - looking out the window now banned.

Tier 7 - breathing is banned? Grin

I shouldn't joke, it is boris in charge after all..

Alice190720 · 28/12/2020 17:08

Not really sure how it’s scaremongering? Was just wondering after seeing it what it would entail? It’s probably just speculation but I was interested?

Seen on Twitter

""I've been to the tier 3000,
Not much has changed but they lived underwater"

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/12/2020 17:09

I will believe it when i see it or read it.

m0therofdragons · 28/12/2020 17:09

We’re in tier 3 so aren’t supposed to travel to neighbouring tier 2 (except for work) and are supposed to stay in our town yet fb is full of lovely family walks an hour away at the tier 2 beach. There was us debating whether the country park was still okay as it’s in the next village but only 5 minutes away and gives the dog a good walk off lead. No idea how much people will follow tier 5.

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/12/2020 17:09

but not in a news paper

Crazycatlady83 · 28/12/2020 17:09

Tier 43 - 74 year old Doris is arrested at a military checkpoint for going to get some milk, she went three weeks ago and her trip was clearly unnecessary
