@InterfectoremVulpes

Is there a general average of cases that are likely to end up with someone being hospitalised?
Wellllll....

We have some data that enables us to have an idea, but again it's only an idea.

PHE England publish admissions, broken down by various definitions. If we look at "the number of patients admitted in previous 24 hours for the first time with COVID-19 plus the number of patients diagnosed in hospital in previous 24 hours where the test was within 7 days of admission" vs positive tests, the average admission rate for the past month has been around 5%.

@Oaktree55 I've been following the data threads (after the 'worried about coronavirus threads from Jan) which have all been full of useful data and reasoned discussion.

@bigchocfrenzy got hounded off after schools posters took over with a dogmatic approach to posting which Was a huge shame. I implore you not to create a repeat of that.

Yes, we are all worried and can see what a shit show it is but until the Oxford vaccine passes or fails it is all conjecture.

Please just give it a rest.

Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:42

@Wakeupin2022 I think they have an impossible decision. The data was a hash worse than yr 9 Biology but we’re in a crisis. Does the vaccine pass > 50% efficacy.....yes. Will that get U.K. out of crisis......no.

Is it MHRA job to get us out of crisis??? NO!!!’

That’s my point remember what their remit is!!!!

InterfectoremVulpes · 29/12/2020 18:43
@InterfectoremVulpes it’s so frustrating how disjointed from reality most people are. This seems like a therapy thread from some of the posts 🤦🏽‍♀️
Then leave us to it and start your own thread to discuss what you want to discuss 🤷‍♀️

Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:44

@PropertyHelp people are missing my point. The MHRA’s job is to pass/fail a vaccine >50%. There job isn’t to choose the best vaccine to get us out if this mess!

Sunshinegirl82 · 29/12/2020 18:45

How?! How can I possibly anticipate what will be released?!

It's very clear that you don't like the Oxford vaccine and perhaps your concerns will be entirely justified but at the moment there simply is not the data to back up what you are saying. You are making hypotheses and then assuming that the forthcoming data will support them and therefore acting as though those hypotheses have already been proved and so anyone who doesn't agree with you is in denial.

I don't know if we will look back with hindsight and wish we had plotted a difference course with respect to the vaccine. The reality is likely to be that either we make use of the Oxford vaccine in the next month or so (assuming it is approved) or we do very little in vaccine terms for a considerable period as we do not have sufficient stocks of any other vaccine available. That's is the reality as I see it.

Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:47

@InterfectoremVulpes ?????? Huh you like the echo chamber???? If I wasn’t making any sense I’d be ignored. Comfortable lies or inconvenient truths??

Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:47

@Sunshinegirl82 I’m not though compared to mRNA data

herecomesthsun · 29/12/2020 18:48

How about another thread to discuss the Oxford vaccine?

PropertyHelp · 29/12/2020 18:48
@PropertyHelp people are missing my point. The MHRA’s job is to pass/fail a vaccine >50%. There job isn’t to choose the best vaccine to get us out if this mess!
Well I think 50% is better than nothing but I'm an accountant so what do I know??

schimmelreiter · 29/12/2020 18:48

Who does choose, then? Who comes up with the vaccine strategy?

Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:48

My point is, justifiably, we should have ordered more mRNA not relied on BRITISH Oxford.

PropertyHelp · 29/12/2020 18:48

Spot on
Ontopofthesunset · 29/12/2020 18:48

Disengage. There is no point arguing with someone who just wants to tell you how right they are and how wrong you are. Mind you, a lot of the internet is like that.

laudemio · 29/12/2020 18:49

@oaktree55 all you ever do is criticise the oxvax, many of your criticisms are factually incorrect. One has to wonder why you are such a one trick pony and why you keep trying to derail threads. I certainly won't be engaging with any more of your posts. It is getting very tedious.

This sums it up
Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:50

@PropertyHelp omg were supposedly one of the foremost scientific nations yet were relying on a poor relation vaccine. We shouldn’t have logistical issues, we’re a wealthy nation.

Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:50

@MarshaBradyo it doesn’t sum it up read the evidence.

Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:51

We should all be up in arms!!! What’s wrong with people?!?!

laudemio · 29/12/2020 18:51

Right let's get back to the data...

Are the numbers from the last few days fully adjusted now,or is there more data to come?

InterfectoremVulpes · 29/12/2020 18:52
@InterfectoremVulpes ?????? Huh you like the echo chamber???? If I wasn’t making any sense I’d be ignored. Comfortable lies or inconvenient truths??
The only is echo is you banging on and on and on.

MarshaBradyo · 29/12/2020 18:53

Oak honestly start a thread! You might have exactly the response you want

Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:53

Jesus people have heads well and truly in sand!!! Let’s all discuss data shall we, data that can’t get changed eg how many dead but let’s all ignore the elephant in the room. Crikey!

Oaktree55 · 29/12/2020 18:55

The only response I’d like is people engaged in reality. I’m sorry if I’m frustrated but I’ve been in reality since last April when most are in denial and still are!

herecomesthsun · 29/12/2020 18:55

I have started a new thread on the Oxford vaccine here.

I would be really interested to read a critique of its efficacy.
