So when will the next lockdown announcement be?

Just that really.
They've been kind and given us Christmas Day and Boxing Day off.
But, they will make an announcement, soon. Right?

I’m also guessing just before the new year and then another just after to tell us what’s happening with the school return in Jan.

MsJaneAusten · 26/12/2020 22:33

I’m guessing the reference to Birmingham is just the sale shopping. Rammed, I presume?

LobotheBotanist · 26/12/2020 22:35

Full country in lockdown on 29th I reckon

Delatron · 26/12/2020 22:35

@Justgivemewine I completely agree. I’m so sick of all this tier shit. I do not support a lockdown or lockdowns in general but if they can crack on with the vaccine then I’d accept it purely for clarity. And that there’s an end goal.

Plus I think it’s been so unfair on norther areas who’ve been in tier three for months.

Yes sorry I'm.having technical difficulties I cant say much or it won't let me post 🤣😳
RememberSelfCompassion · 26/12/2020 22:39

Half the country is already in tier 4 isnt it so cant mix for nye.

I expect schools will be announced as not going back the day beforr they are due to. Couldn't possibly do advance warning 🙄.

It actually worries me more they might keep them open (cv and 2 children in school.)

ThatDamnKrampus · 26/12/2020 22:41

I dont think there will be a lockdown as such, maybe any areas still below tier 4 will move up but in England that will be it. Schools will be back on the 4th, full swing, just in time to spread the virus full force after ridiculous christmas mixing/free for all.

chantico · 26/12/2020 22:42

Are schools staggered starts definite policy, or just something that is under consideration?

We had an email from school talking about it as a possibility (most pupils delayed until 11th, not 4th) but there would be an update nearer the time. I guess they're not sure WTF will be the policy by January either!

WitchQueenofDarkness · 26/12/2020 22:43

No justification for a tier change so soon.

Bristol had less than a week as Tier 2 before it was put back up. Just enough time for pubs and restaurants to order supplies that they then had to bin.

Far too soon to see any results (positive or negative) from the last set of changes especially with the Christmas effect.

MsJaneAusten · 26/12/2020 22:44

The delayed start for secondary pupils is already confirmed. 11th for all but year 11 & 13.

SoEverybodyDance · 26/12/2020 22:44

Whenever it will be you can guarantee it will be too late!

SoEverybodyDance · 26/12/2020 22:45

I will not send my DC to school in these circumstances

RememberSelfCompassion · 26/12/2020 22:46

Our secondary doesnt think it needs to delay until the 11th as it can lateral flow a year a day in the first week. So wants everyone in on the 4th 🙄.

designmama · 26/12/2020 22:48

Keeping my fingers crossed that primary schools stay open. I really don’t want my 5 year old having to miss out on anymore school.

CauliflowerCheese30 · 26/12/2020 22:48

Someone I work with, already knows that she will be shielding for 3 weeks, because she knows of someone who has already received a letter for it and so thinks she'll also be getting one, anyone else heard this?

reluctantbrit · 26/12/2020 22:50

Didn’t they say they would review the original tier 4 by the 30th December?

We already said to DD that she shouldn’t assume going back to school on the 11th. We plan for February half term for the best and Easter for the worst. (SE London Borough)

I hate it and had my meltdown earlier this week but it just can’t be changed.

RememberSelfCompassion · 26/12/2020 22:51

I really want primary to shut/ go part time with more spacing or something . Maybe offer work from home for those with cv in the family or who knows.

Its spreading so fast and so many peoples livelihoods are being ruined. We need to get the numbers down.

latti · 26/12/2020 22:55

I think we will go into lockdown from Monday 4th - with schools closed and lots of people off work until then anyway, it makes sense.

SophieB100 · 26/12/2020 22:55

After Boris has got the vote on Brexit, and before the end of next week.
Am due back in school on the 4th, with most of the years online (secondary) so middle of that week - he'll announce that schools will remain online for rest of January.

latti · 26/12/2020 22:55

I agree, primaries need to close until February half term.
LitPeach · 26/12/2020 22:56

The sooner the better! I’m in tier 4 and there are no signs of any lockdown here.

Roads jammed with cars, people out and about as normal walking round parks and sitting on benches. Neighbours popping to the shops for wine and gin Hmm

We need a proper lockdown- no one leaves home at all unless a key worker. Supermarkets shut with food drops provided by the army. £10,000 fines for non key workers caught outside.

Even then I suspect some people would still ‘need’ to pop out for a bottle of Prosecco Hmm

Duemarch2021 · 26/12/2020 22:57

Oh god no we won't be allowed a new years celebration!!! I reckon 28th im in north wales though not sure where you are.. but that will be it now i reckon until at least mid January.. full on lock down for us x

Chimeraforce · 26/12/2020 22:57

Op at least you had the Christmas respite. Tier 4 here, snatched away last minute. The ministers may as well call it Jackanory.

SoftSheen · 26/12/2020 23:00

Don't be ridiculous.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 26/12/2020 23:00

The way things are going right now, the 4th of Jan is a very long way away - not going to worry about the government’s “plans” for schools just yet.

Lots more places moving into tier 4 for NYE I think. My county is in tier 3, cases slowly increasing. The city a couple of miles away is in tier 2, cases increased by 180% in the last 7 days (and that’s without all the data in for the last few days).
