Just thought I'd start a new thread for the north east lot as number 3 is getting pretty full!

@PennyDreadfuI hope you're ok and hope you don't mind me picking the thread up!

is that a tv aerial or a marker?

Someaddedsugar · 21/02/2021 18:29

It felt so lovely and spring like today didn't it! Makes such a difference to my mood.

@MrsEWeatherwax he'll be just the right age - I can't wait! It's so lovely when all of the lambs and calves are out in the fields isn't it!

@PickAChew hope you managed to get some gardening done - a good day for it! Is that the indoor bowling place where your DH went? I had to go there last time for mine as they've stopped having the centre at the fire station and I was fascinated by the decor and imagined it must be an amazing venue when it's open!

That's scarily high isn't it @TheSilveryPussycat!

Yes and yes, @Someaddedsugar. I didn't get around everything and devoted some time to clearing away the stuff that dh had left scattered after the garage was fixed but it looks a lot less unkempt, now, and we can see the snowdrops properly.

I hope our John Lewis isn't on the cull list :(

MrsEWeatherwax · 21/02/2021 20:48

I love John Lewis Newcastle, they can’t shut it can they?
Spring is coming, sun today and it’s getting lighter on a evening.

MrsEWeatherwax · 22/02/2021 14:17

Drying weather again, still a bit chilly in shade. I had already shoved in dryer first thing this morning because yesterday the waist bands of the jeans didn’t drySad
I’m desperate to be able to see my DP’s indoors. Better be before May!

MrsEWeatherwax · 22/02/2021 18:08

So 17 May to be able to see DP’s in indoors.
My DM is now to fail and constantly cold to meet outside.
I won’t be going out for food either until May.

Someaddedsugar · 22/02/2021 18:42

I was hoping for April for indoor visits @MrsEWeatherwax. My DNanna hasn't had a visitor in her home for almost a year now. I can't wait until we can safely visit her.

It's meant to be lovely this weekend according the weather - we'll be trying to do the full walk at Broom House as DP will be coming too so he can take it in turns trying to persuade DS to walk a little bit further without being carried 😂.

OP posts:
MrsEWeatherwax · 22/02/2021 19:06

Good luck for your walk, I can remember well the carry years. Mine use to run away, then when caught expect to be carried, I use to be shattered. Blush

Someaddedsugar · 22/02/2021 20:33

Mine does the same. Or his current favourite is 'can we walk to that tree' while pointing to a tree a long distance away which leads a big debate about it being too far for him which is inevitably followed with the 'I promise I'll walk the whole way' then we get to the sodding tree and he wants a carry all the way back 😂.

Well, I had my vaccination yesterday Smile As it was the first day of opening, a reporter and photographer from The Mirror were there. In fact they took a photos of me, and reporter asked me some questions. Then they had to go and see the Bishop of Durham get his jab.

Needless to say, the Bishop made it into the paper. None of the ordinary interviews did, but I wasn't really expecting them to. And the photo would have featured a woman with wild grey hair Blush

Felt a little bit achey and chilly yesterday evening, right as rain now.

PickAChew · 23/02/2021 16:33

Well this woman with wild greying hair is booked in for next week - as group 6, rather than group 9!

Ds2 is beck to school in a week.

And I'm crossing everything that I can see my parents on whit weekend.

This wind, though. It's crazy out there.

Florelei · 23/02/2021 17:03

I’ve got mine tomorrow. I’m really scared, as I hate needles. I don’t want it really but I know I have to have it to protect my vulnerable DM.

@TheSilveryPussycat - were you at the Arnison site? Which vaccine are they offering?

I took the dog for a walk by pontop and the wind is awful.

TheSilveryPussycat · 23/02/2021 17:15

Yes, it was at the Arnison. The vaccine is Astra Zeneca'.It was all very efficient, quite a lot of army medical personel in camaflage, including the nurse who injected me.

They asked me to dangle my arm, which I suspect minimises any pain in the arm afterwards. I don't mind injections, but didn't watch - just gazed vacantly - and it was over in a second.

There is seating to sit on for a few minutes afterwards, just in case.

Someaddedsugar · 23/02/2021 18:16

So pleased for you all having your vaccines!

I have volunteered as a vaccine centre assistant (absolutely nothing to do with injections more car park waving and directions etc) through work and I'm hoping I get a few days of volunteering in at Boldon House. Just waiting for my application to be approved.

How did you get on @Florelei?

OP posts:
Florelei · 23/02/2021 18:25

That sounds exciting @Someaddedsugar!

My jab isn’t until tomorrow. 😬

PickAChew · 23/02/2021 19:03

On a different note, I've not naturally shifted my Christmas podge so I'm bowing down to the my fitness pal overlord for a few weeks. MDe that Spanish turmeric chicken, tonight. It's as delicious as it looks in the book, though my photo isn't quite insta ready - not helped by Ds2 turning the overhead lights off, as he does. Nor by my refusal to artfully arrange every piece when I'm flipping hungry! 520 calories for the whole meal and about 1/3 of those were olive oil, which I am not complaining about!

Florelei · 24/02/2021 15:04

@TheSilveryPussycat - how are you feeling today?

I saw this report on the new vaccine centre: it looks very well organised!

www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/gallery/pictures-inside-new-covid-19-19889446?fbclid=IwAR2opyva2j7pUHKOwnpny2EiDuJ-Syrit_wq0bycKdHztigFRsJ5PZJsm78

I had my jab this morning and feel a little bit shivery. But nothing major and I’m so glad to have had it.

Have you heard anything yet about your volunteering @Someaddedsugar?

@PickAChew - your dinner looks lovely!

Someaddedsugar · 24/02/2021 15:36

@PickAChew that looks amazing!

@Florelei nothing yet. The centre looks very organised! Pleased your jab went well!

I've taken the day off to use up hols before the end of March cook off and have just made enough chocolate orange biscotti to feed an army despite the diet - I can't see this ending well 😂

OP posts:
MrsEWeatherwax · 25/02/2021 18:05

PickAChew, food looks lovely. Was sunny today, did you get to hang your washing out?
Pleased it’s stopped raining, the sun always improves my mood.
Hope everyone who had the vaccine is doing okay. I would love the vaccine, I can’t wait.

Someaddedsugar · 25/02/2021 20:55

Has anyone else in the Durham area heard the helicopters flying overhead tonight? I was putting DS in the bath when the first one flew over and it was so loud! Just heard another one a few minutes ago.

OP posts:
MrsEWeatherwax · 25/02/2021 21:44

@Someaddedsugar you must very local to me! Because I heard it. It’s all over the local Facebook page, someone stated it is army, they shared a link to show what it is.

Someaddedsugar · 25/02/2021 21:48

@MrsEWeatherwax I've just heard it again! I wonder what's going on. DP was wondering if it's vaccines being delivered?

OP posts:
MrsEWeatherwax · 25/02/2021 21:51

Exciting if it is, just think vaccine being delivered by helicopter to Arnison centre by the army! I heard it a minute ago too, so I have turned tv upBlush

MrsEWeatherwax · 25/02/2021 22:48

@Someaddedsugar it’s just military exercises. Not as exciting as delivering vaccines.
