Just thought I'd start a new thread for the north east lot as number 3 is getting pretty full!

@PennyDreadfuI hope you're ok and hope you don't mind me picking the thread up!

@Someaddedsugar - have tissues ready - I sobbed at TS3!

Florelei · 24/01/2021 15:57

@NUFC69 - I live quite near consett so perhaps my view of what ‘springlike’ feels like is different to a lot of people. I mean we still have frost on the ground but there was a little bit of warmth to the sun for the first time in a few months!

I even took my hat off for my dog walk! Grin

MrsEWeatherwax · 24/01/2021 20:01

The sun was warm today. I was warm during my walk.
Was funny watching social media today re the snow. I’m glad other parts of country have had some snow. Sorry to all the snow lover’s, but I would be happy never to see it again, well maybe a sprinkling Christmas Day!

Iceroadtruckingextremefishing · 24/01/2021 20:30

(Nc’ed but been on thread before). I’m well jealous of all the lovely walks - I would absolutely love a walk around Durham riverside, it reminds me of being a kid and rowing on the river Smile

I have a random question - I was listening to Lindisfarne Run for Home and remember it being on a Tv advert. Can anyone remember whether it was for Eldon Square or the Metrocentre please - it’s driving me mad!

TheSilveryPussycat · 25/01/2021 17:12

Well, a friend and I had planned to walk into Durham and then by the river.

I popped round the shop for some milk, and decided it was too cold and blustery.

Florelei · 25/01/2021 17:37

@Iceroadtruckingextremefishing - I can’t remember but that is bugging me now too.
If anyone knows please help!

PickAChew · 25/01/2021 19:34

At least the mud was hard enough to walk on where the sun hadn't been shining. The grass next to county hall is proper squelchy, though. We've given up cleaning shoes and just have them all lined up on a cardboard box "mat"

MrsEWeatherwax · 26/01/2021 23:07

Durham figures have gone up a tiny bit.
Hope it’s just a blip.
It’s definitely getting lighter on a afternoon now. Do want it to dry out, in places is quite muddy. But don’t want the frost and ice either.
Thanks for the Covid Messenger website.

PickAChew · 27/01/2021 00:51

I avoided taking Ds2 out for his walk with this afternoon's sleet.

Largely on account of his current tic which is only another bloody cough. Hmm

Someaddedsugar · 28/01/2021 20:23

Hope everyone's ok.

I've had a crazy week at work and it's been nice having the distraction from the real world.

I hope Durham's figures going up is a blip. On BBC Look North last night they were down on the previous 7 days although I guess they can vary so much!

I've just been to look outside and it's thick fog. I'm hoping this means it'll be wet but not icy tomorrow!

Went for a drive round this afternoon. As I drove westward, and got to where there was still a bit of snow, everywhere looked like it was in a cloud.

Rain, rain, sick of rain.

PickAChew · 28/01/2021 23:48

It's been vile. Rain started as sleet but when that diminished to drizzle, it was still painfully cold.

Ds2 been difficult and loud, today.

I was determined to carve out some time for myself today and do some sewing. 2 hours of trying to pin a collar stand on a shirt. It wasn't behaving, I was trying to concentrate with Ds2 howling, I ended up in tears with the shirt flung on the floor. It's now in a bag, on the shelf. Will re-visit when I can string a thought together.

This evening, dh lost a filling. First attempt at a temp repair has fallen out.

Such a happy household.

TheSilveryPussycat · 29/01/2021 00:07

Impressed at the sewing. Can turn a hem up, and sew buttons on. But love Sewing Bee. I can knit, but my current project is on hold Blush

PickAChew · 29/01/2021 00:22

I've seen forever and took up knitting when boys and previous small house made sewing impossible. My hands grumble about knitting, now, though, and there's only so many woollen things I can wear.

Someaddedsugar · 29/01/2021 07:01

Thanks@PickAChew - hope you have a better day today!

DS has woken up with a blocked nose so today will no doubt be a waiting game for that to turn into a cough once the congestion goes and it turns into a runny nose! I'm so sick of living with the weird fear of someone getting ill because they might get a tiny cough which then totally disrupts everything else. It's like torture!

Do you know of any good casting on tutorials @TheSilveryPussycat. I got a Wool & the Gang scarf set for Christmas and it has the most giant knitting needles, and while I can vaguely remember the knitting element, my DNanna always used to do the casting on for me when I was little and I just can't get my head around the instructions that have come with the kit!

OP posts:
NUFC69 · 29/01/2021 08:17

Morning all. We're fed up with the weather, too. Endless rain.

I was thinking about the casting on. It's simple really, but very difficult to describe, I am sure there will be a video on line.

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 29/01/2021 08:21

I taught myself using you tube. Just typed it in the search. I can't get remember the name of the video but she had red wool!

PickAChew · 29/01/2021 10:43

If you Google long tail cast on, there's a YouTube video for beginners right at the top.

Ds2 a little calmer, today, though back to his cough tic. About to take him out for a leg stretch before the rain returns and then try to engage him in a token activity for school. Forgot to mention that amongst yesterday's shitness,Y sporadic sciatica was playing up, the cracks in the garage roof turned into a hole and I had a grocery delivery which included a ready meal (because sometime I just need that simplicity that had burst and leaked over everything else in the bag. Today has to be a better day.

PickAChew · 29/01/2021 12:42

Well, nice wall until some kind bird crapped on me Hmm

PickAChew · 29/01/2021 12:42

Walk

incognitomum · 29/01/2021 12:48

Hi all. I'm new but live on the Durham coast.

I haven't been out for a walk yesterday or today. Reason being I had the covid vaccine and my legs were aching yesterday. Getting furniture delivered today so been sorting the bedroom ready for it to go in. We ordered it months ago.

Had a bit of sunshine today and no rain so far.

MrsEWeatherwax · 29/01/2021 15:11

You are having some bad luck at moment PickAChew. Hope things get better soon.
I wish it would stop raining, nicer today. I saw the ☀️, but the path is still wet and the grass is still muddy. Spring can’t come fast enough.
Went to D today and was so disappointed the Poundland is closed, I knew they were going to. There was queue at Tesco(market place) but everywhere else was dead. DD had a medical appointment in case anyone tells me off!
My life is so boring I bought some toilet cleaner I saw on TikTok.Blush I’m now excited to clean the toilet Sad.

TheSilveryPussycat · 29/01/2021 15:24

PickAChew, a bird crapping on you is good luck!

Grin at MrsE.

MrsEWeatherwax · 29/01/2021 15:43

I have just googled being pooped by bird on is good luckBlush. I didn’t know that.
