Just thought I'd start a new thread for the north east lot as number 3 is getting pretty full!

@PennyDreadfuI hope you're ok and hope you don't mind me picking the thread up!

Yes that's true @troto. We are well ahead of most of the country so they reckon we don't need so much. Local NHS heads are livid! We will now get about 1/2 of our expected 200,000 doses

Someaddedsugar · 21/01/2021 22:23

How is that allowed to happen @Troto and @gingercat02 - surely we shouldn't be punished for being ahead of schedule! I really hope this doesn't impact anyone.

Well I hope it doesn't sit unused because trusts in other areas haven't got themselves organised, yet.

MrsEWeatherwax · 22/01/2021 22:05

My DP’s haven’t received their new date for second dose yet. Pleased my local MP has spoken about it. Feeling very down at moment. Our figures are going down so should feel optimistic, but I don’t.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 23/01/2021 17:47

I hope you are feeling a bit better today @MrsEWeatherwax. I think everyone has days when the feel quite low at the moment.

MrsEWeatherwax · 23/01/2021 18:04

Thank you @gingeristhenewblack43, I think my problem is very day is a sad day. At the moment, I even enjoy going to work because I see different people and can have a chat. And I so enjoy the drive to and from work, especially coming home. I put my music on and I have sing along (badly).
My DD and I are definitely going for walk tomorrow, I have promised. I will be shamed on Facebook because I’m going to go to Chester park then I’m going to buy a cappuccino and a sandwich, living the dreamBlush. There was someone complaining about the play area being open and the skate park. I think the teenagers have more chance or booking their neck skating than catching COVID.
I’m glad my are older because being stuck in a house with small children is my idea of hell.
Hope everyone else well. Co Durham are still going down that hill. My very local figures have halved.

Someaddedsugar · 23/01/2021 18:16

Hope you’re ok @MrsEWeatherwax.

For anyone who passes through Witton Gilbert, my DBIL has just messaged to say that the Travellers Rest is now serving takeaway coffee and also has a deli section with local cheeses etc.

Definitely ordering our D&P meal for Friday next week (still dithering over the choices though!). DP is still down and I really feel for him as he really isn’t great at talking about things, so hopefully that will cheer him up a bit as it’ll be a nice surprise treat.

On a positive note our DS has discovered the Toy Story films today and is in love with them. It’s the first time we’ve watched a family film together and it’s been lovely.

Someaddedsugar · 23/01/2021 18:17

@MrsEWeatherwax I bloody hope you aren’t shamed for getting a coffee! And I hope you both enjoy it. It’s meant to be sunny again so should be a lovely walk!

Hello everyone. Just checking in. Hope you’re all ok.

We are just waiting for our takeaway from the Indian takeaway in the village. It’s so cold tonight! I’m currently trying to get warm after my last dog walk.

MrsEWeatherwax · 23/01/2021 18:23

@Someaddedsugar enjoy the Toy Story films, I cried at one, can’t remember which, it was the toys going into the furnace one.
I enjoyed it when mine started to like Scoby do.Blush

TheSilveryPussycat · 23/01/2021 18:23

I imagine they are trying to share the vaccine so that the over 80s in other areas can have their jabs too. My theory is that our success in getting the vaccines out to people, is due partly to population distribution, and partly to older people round here not living as long as elsewhere, so fewer old folk to vaccinate.

MrsEWeatherwax · 23/01/2021 19:07

But that doesn’t explain why some places have barely started! Plus our area received the vaccine late. But still had everything in place for it to go like clockwork.
I suppose having less people is the price we pay for old heavy industries and poverty. Must knock that chip off my shoulder soon. It’s very heavy.

NUFC69 · 23/01/2021 20:23

If you look at the figures, though, it's not just a case of percentages, our figures are very impressive. I am in my 70s and I think that every 80 yo I know has been done. Our two GP surgeries are working together and seem to be vaccinating on an almost industrial scale. There were some figures in the newspaper yesterday: the NE has done something like 19,000 second vaccines, Nottinghamshire has done 25! I am angry about the reduction in vaccines we are receiving - last week I was very optimistic, this week I am depressed again.

We did manage to go to Wallington yesterday, as I hadn't been out for over 16 days apart from a trip to the greengrocer's - it was lovely to get some fresh air.

gingercat02 · 23/01/2021 21:36

My Man is 79 and having her vaccine on Tuesday. So pleased for her. I think it's disgraceful that we are being punished for doing well. Glad our local MP is on the case. On a happier note it was a beautiful but cold day. We had a lovely walk along Tynemouth Longsands

gingercat02 · 23/01/2021 21:38

*Mam - DH isn't 79 🤣

MrsEWeatherwax · 23/01/2021 22:33

gingercat02 I obviously can’t read properly, because I read it as Mam anyway.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 24/01/2021 09:56

@MrsEWeatherwax enjoy your trip to Chester Park, and to anyone that shames you 🖕🏻

What's everyone's plans today? We've got a hard frost and blue skies in North Tyneside this morn. We need to drop off a birthday card for DD's BFF today then will go for a walk, maybe at the Rising Sun. DD has maths homework and I'll be making a roast later.

It's getting difficult to remember a time when life was not so constrained 🤯

Florelei · 24/01/2021 10:07

Morning - we seem to be all doing a lot of walking!

I have spotted quite a long walk nearby which seems to be pretty quiet so I am going to take the dog out and give it a go.

Enjoy CLS and the Rising Sun walks.

@gingeristhenewblack43 - I was just saying to my DM yesterday, it has quickly become normal hasn’t it. I’m going to feel like a newborn deer blinking in wonder in the bright sunlight going into a restaurant for a meal when things reopen!

littleowl1 · 24/01/2021 11:35

Folks - I have updated the hospital data charts for each region in England on www.covidmessenger.com

No. of Hospital Cases:

Daily Admissions:

No. of Patients in Mechanical Ventilation Beds:

FYI - The North East regional charts are all grey so you can quickly spot them.

Someaddedsugar · 24/01/2021 11:57

Morning (just) everyone!

I've been for a lovely walk with DS this morning while DP had a lie in, and we've just settled down to watch Toy Story 3 (I think this is the one you mean @MrsEWeatherwax!) before I get started on our dinner.

The sunshine really does make a difference doesn't it!

Hi @Someaddedsugar - it feels almost spring like this morning! There is a tiny bit of warmth to the sun.

MrsEWeatherwax · 24/01/2021 12:54

My walk was glorious. Feel so much better. Even bought a naughty waffle to take homeBlush
The park was pleasantly busy. Lovely to see, I forgot to take bread for the 🦢.
At Boyes they have brought some buttons downstairs Grin.

NUFC69 · 24/01/2021 15:09

Florelei, must be warmer where you are!

I have subscribed to CovidMessenger since October, I find it very useful and have all of the figures for Northumberland written down in a notebook.

I have just written to my MP as I was annoyed to get a text from my sister in the Midlands whose husband, 71, no health issues, has received his first vaccine jab. Whilst I am pleased for him, my DH and I are older, and we have had our supplies cut up here as you know. Theoretically Coventry and Warwickshire haven't vaccinated as many over 80s as we have here. I am now getting irritated by posts about people who 'happen to have a relative' in a surgery, etc, who are getting phone calls suggesting they go in and have an injection to use up spare vaccines.
