@SquirtleSquad

I went to Sainsburys at 2ish and it was unbearable. I should have realised when there was a police car and ambulance outside.. apparently someone got punched in the face over a pot of premade taste the difference gravy Biscuit I managed to get everything I was after except for Maris pipers Xmas Grin
Jesus! This sounds like quite the first world punch up! I'm sure the police and paramedics were delighted to have that to deal with on top of covid.

Is it wrong I want whole threads about inicidents like this for light relief this afternoon?

Why didn't they want the Bisto??!

willsantausesantatize · 21/12/2020 14:52

Long queue today at our local food hall ( m and s) took an hour start to finish.
They had plenty of food in though.

CrispySeaweedIsReallyCabbage · 21/12/2020 14:52

What is wrong with Bisto fgs? There's a pandemic on people 😂🤦‍♀️!

Bubblemonkey · 21/12/2020 14:53

Aldi was busy but not chaotic.

Sorry, think I've gone over the edge into hysteria at this point.
Madbengalmum · 21/12/2020 14:54

Great experience at m&s this morning, in and out in 30 mins, far less agro than normal Christmasses. Massive queue when i came out at 8am though.

RedToothBrush · 21/12/2020 14:56

Nope, I'm definitely with you on this one.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 21/12/2020 14:59

SE T2.
DH said queues are around the car park for Tesco and Waitrose. M&S was good ( he had an order to pick up).

I think the trouble us once the big stores run out of something there’s the compulsion to go to another big store to get it.
Local butchers are complaining that people aren’t honouring their orders now ( over in T4) which is causing them some worry.

PanamaPattie · 21/12/2020 15:07

Just finished the big Christmas shop at Sainsbury’s. No queues. Fully stocked. Managed to get a lemon for my gin and tonic. I know we need to stop stock piling, so I only bought one.

Haha god knows. I stayed well clear, I think at this point as long as have some food (and fingers crossed family allowed to come still) then we will be happy whatever is on the plate Grin

Imagine calling your husband or wife and having to tell them you need a lift home from the police station because you punched someone in the face over the gravy HmmBiscuit

TopTabby · 21/12/2020 15:14

Just nipped for a few items at my local medium sized Sainsbury's & was surprised how quiet it was.
Straight in, no queue, plenty of stock & was in & out in 15 mins. Had a nice chat with someone about small Christmas puddings as well.
Did big shop at Aldi last week thank God so only need basket shops this week.

justasking111 · 21/12/2020 15:17

One of the mums works at a big Asda on customer she gets a bird's eye view of the punch ups at Christmas mostly late morning onwards. The knuckle draggers are not early birds Grin

SuperFairy · 21/12/2020 15:27

I know it’s wrong but I am laughing out loud at the gravy punch, what is wrong with people! 😂

I’m venturing to Tesco this evening and thankfully the Finest Beef and red wine gravy is already in my fridge 😆

TrackandTrain · 21/12/2020 15:27

@justanotherneighinparadise

I can remember working at Tesco as a teen and the queues used to go halfway down the aisles at Christmas. I quite enjoyed it! Grin
I was the same but Asda. I gave up trying to get down my isle (wine) to refill shelves I just hung around with a tub of sweets asking if people needed anything.
CrunchyNutNC · 21/12/2020 15:35

whattimeisdinner in a normal year I'd be cooking for big numbers every day from 24th to 27th (maybe an extra 25-30 meals in addition to what have to do for immediate family), so would have to do a huge shop around now to avoid having to go back out until 28th (yes the shops are open but when you have visitors every day when do you have time to shop?).

This year I'll be buying the same things, but a fraction of the quantity as there are no guests coming.

TomasinaTiers · 21/12/2020 15:37

Gravy punch up!

I went to M&S at 9:30 and it was fine, but leaving I saw a queue of cars to get into the car park

Think early is best

Oysterbabe · 21/12/2020 15:44

I'm just back from our local supermarket. Not busy at all and shelves piled high.

BaronessVonCake · 21/12/2020 15:45

The knuckle draggers are not early birds

This really made me laugh!

dementedma · 21/12/2020 15:51

Asda was quite busy this morning but not awful. Christmas shop done. Just need to pick up turkey and ham from local butcher on Wednesday and we're all done

CarlottaValdez · 21/12/2020 15:52

Well ok but imagine having to tell your husband or wife you were serving bisto on Christmas Day! So, you know, swings and roundabouts.

And this is why I miss all the excitement. I rarely shop Christmas week.
RedToothBrush · 21/12/2020 16:01

I tell DH he's bloody doing it instead!

SquirtleSquad · 21/12/2020 16:01

Grin I actually bought the pre made taste the difference one and the fight was already over when I arrived (police and ambulance were outside when I parked) so It can't have even been a fight over the last pot, just a general gravy related argument Grin
