Only 3 but sadly 2 of them died one being my cousin 😢

santasmincepie · 21/12/2020 10:51

5
One was extremely clinically vulnerable, but got away with one night in hospital.
One heavily pregnant. Was fine.
2 mild symptoms.
And me! Still going but so far have only lost my sense of taste and smell. Very tired, but otherwise ok.
It is not necessarily a terrible thing to get

winechateauxjoy · 21/12/2020 10:51

5 friends, 1 former colleague, 4 former students. And I live in an area with a very low rate.

ferretface · 21/12/2020 10:53

In the Uk, three confirmed- colleague (school transmission), friend (currently in hospital), another friend (also briefly spent time in hospital in March)

For the colleague it was a sniffle. Both friends that ended up in hospital have weight issues and are male.

Also know a few people who have had it abroad. All of them fine after a few days.

kissmelittleass · 21/12/2020 10:53

1 my aunts husband and sadly he died but did have an underlying condition

pinbinpin · 21/12/2020 10:58

Round 1 - 4: my uncle, 81, died within 48hrs, my son's friend who is a doctor in a covid ward, fit and healthy, late forties, had 5 days off work, only symptom fatigue and aches. A friend and her whole family, mid-forties, vegan health nut, was ill for 3 weeks with pretty bad flu like symptoms and is now suffering from long covid (hair falling out). Friends husband, very ill for weeks, almost hospitalised on 2 occasions, early 50s, unfit, drinker/smoker. Now has long covid with vascular symptoms, awaiting surgery.

Round 2: lost count, mainly DC secondary school friends and families. Kids utterly unaffected, parents, week in bed and then few weeks of fatigue, so far, don't know anyone severely ill.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/12/2020 11:00

About 30, I'm shocked it's so many, I hadn't counted before.

Bluebaubles · 21/12/2020 11:08

5- if by ‘know’ you mean have their phone numbers.
Friends of friends- brothers neighbour, Aunty Mary’s friend, etc- about 20

TheDogsMother · 21/12/2020 11:11

A few friends that think they have had it but weren't tested. In terms of people with a positive test, no one.

GimmeSammy · 21/12/2020 11:15

I'm in London and neither me mor my family know anyone who tested positive for it. Covid doesn't feel real to us until we are out and see others in masks.

QuantumJump · 21/12/2020 11:17

Three - DD's schoolfriend, an ex-colleague and a neighbour.

Those are the ones I know (rather than a friend of a friend etc).

JacobReesMogadishu · 21/12/2020 11:20

I honestly have lost count. I’d say around 50. 2 of whom have died from it. About 5 have developed long covid and are still poorly a few months later.

PolytheneHam · 21/12/2020 11:20

Too many to count, but I work on a hospital ward. At the time I got it, one third of the ward's staff did. My husband and then baby also caught it from me. I've known numerous patients have it, and I've known two people from outside of work actually die from it.

Wishing14 · 21/12/2020 11:22

1 person (who was included in the death figures but never had a positive test and actually died from old age), 4 people who had mild symptoms.

RickOShay · 21/12/2020 11:24

5 including fil who sadly died.

BG2015 · 21/12/2020 11:28

10

6 of those in the past week. 3 colleagues (school) and 3 KS2 children

FrazzledChip · 21/12/2020 11:29

3 colleagues
8 kids at school
6 family members - 1 died, 1 was in hospital for weeks between life and death, 2 called paramedics (1 admitted to hospital for short time), 2 unwell but not seriously
4 or 5 friends and acquaintances - one has long Covid nearly 8 months on and is still using a wheelchair

Iamaweirdone · 21/12/2020 11:30
  1. 1 dead
RumHoney · 21/12/2020 11:33

None amongst people I would usually see in real life. A couple of people I used to know but only really keep in touch with through facebook these days and some contacts of friends.

Dawnlassie · 21/12/2020 11:34

2
Both NHS and neither realised they had it.

Hailtomyteeth · 21/12/2020 11:35

Me, and dgd who caught it from me.

bathsh3ba · 21/12/2020 11:35

That I know personally, 3. 1 relative with dementia died with COVID in a care home a few days before his 90th birthday. 1 ICU nurse in her 20s who was briefly hospitalised and now has long Covid. One teacher friend in her 30s with mild symptoms now fully recovered.

BogRollBOGOF · 21/12/2020 11:37

1 casual friend and her family. Secondary teacher with children at two other secondary schools so quite a broad range of exposure.

There have been 3 classes lose a week in the DC's primary school. I don't know the individuals involved.

Probably a lot more Feb-March last year before testing as we were an early hotspot.
I'm suspicious about DM's stubborn "chest infection" and DVT scare back in February.
I'm open minded about the horrid random virus that DS1 had this time last year. The timing is early, but it did have several familiar features. He's never spent a week in bed before.

But only one person who I could name with a positive test result.

SwayingInTime · 21/12/2020 11:38

Loads, well into double figures. But I am a nurse!

madcatladyforever · 21/12/2020 11:39

Hundreds, half of the staff in my NHS dept and who knows how many patients, I've lost count.
