My brother's girlfriend and my brother's mate

OP posts:

Personally, only about 6. One step removed and it's a LOT more.
2 at work (out of 30 ish). But several colleagues have had more than one close relative with it in the last 2 weeks, so another a dozen on top of that.
1 in our small village (that I know personally, there have been others obviously especially in the care homes) plus her relative who died of it in a care home a week ago.
1 relative and her friend that she caught it from, who I have met a few times. Friend was hospitalised, relative really should have been.
A friend who used to live next-door and her family (DH and 4 DCs) all had it quite early, she was very poorly. So, another 6.

Actually more than I thought.

PurpleFrames · 21/12/2020 00:06

1 vague aquaintence and the grandmother of a friends boyfriend.. and I'm in a high tier supposedly..

trader21c · 21/12/2020 00:07

DH recovered quickly
Neighbours fairly mild cases back at work etc
2 friends of DH apparently one has lingering symptoms
4 people at work - one young (late 20s) got it badly off for ages, another 30s off few weeks, one make 60ish back right after isolation period and fine
Friends of DD who is a student

Saltn · 21/12/2020 00:07

2, untill this week and it's now 6.. we are in a tier 4 area.

PodgeBod · 21/12/2020 00:09

2, a mother and son who live together, and tested positive this week. We are in a tier 4 area.

BigPlanes · 21/12/2020 00:09

Personally... 12 that I know of. Two major ICU stays of people in their 40s with long term disabilities afterwards, two long covid, 3 deaths Sad

If I’m counting local cases I know of... over 100

LuluJakey1 · 21/12/2020 00:12

Personally:
SIL and niece - both recovered quickly. BIL and baby did not get it.
4 families in our street have had it after a Hallowe'en event- all recovered although a couple were pretty poorly at home, not hospitalised.
An ex-colleague who had underlying health problems related to her lungs got it and died after a month in hospital.
An ex-colleague's daughter who was in her late 20s had it and died very suddenly at home after breathing difficulties. She was very overweight and they were told it had exacerbated the strain on her heart and lungs and was a contributory factor.

Know of
9 staff at DH's secondary school- no one hospitalised but one was poorly for several weeks.6 of those were sharing cars, not wearing masks in the cars and/or going into each other's houses on the way home for a coffee/drink. Some members of their families were also infected.
The school has had 12 positive tests in students since September.
Numerous staff and students at other schools in our local authority.

0 and I'm in the south east...

Chloemol · 21/12/2020 00:18

7, 1 died, 2 has long covid

FluffySocks75 · 21/12/2020 00:26

About 20 schools staff.

Lots of their families. Including children

Many pupils at the school. Their families.

Some nhs staff I know

Some friends who picked it up randomly

School by far highest place I know people to have got it from. No distancing no ppe. Not surprising

earsup · 21/12/2020 00:29

Two. Teaching friends..said it was just like having a cold for few days and that was it but one still tested positive after 18 days.

Aquamarine1029 · 21/12/2020 00:33

Including myself, I would say at least 30. I stopped keeping track. 2 dead.

MissMatchedClaws · 21/12/2020 00:37

2, and we’ve been in tier three for bloody ever

feelingverylazytoday · 21/12/2020 00:38

Zero, but I don't know that many people, to be fair.
One of my son's neighbours had it, he was an NHS worker, but has recovered now, thankfully.
My two grandsons have been at school since September and haven't missed a single day. There have been no cases at their school (as far as I know).
This is in the SE, currently tier 4.

Notthe9oclocknewsathon · 21/12/2020 00:40

Around 100 probably

kelpie35 · 21/12/2020 00:46

zero

Dryadia · 21/12/2020 00:47

3, all early 50's. One died, the other two not hospitalised but very ill for 3 weeks plus, one of those still having problems with their lungs now, their partner fully recovered after 5-6 weeks.

All had minor health problems prior to catching covid. All caught covid in the first weeks of the initial lockdown.

Mumof3andlovingit · 21/12/2020 00:48

@ChristmasSomething

About 20! Lost count.
Same here.
Spidey66 · 21/12/2020 00:53

7
5 colleagues (NHS ), the partner of one of them and a local shopkeeper. The shopkeeper was very unwell, in ICU for several weeks, had sepsis, CVA, heart attack. In hospital 6 months, had to give up his shop. He featured on a BBC programme about the royal free, in case the story sounds familar. I saw the programme and felt so sad, he'd lost so much weight and looked really frail.

My colleagues were all fine. I was worried about one as he has type 2 diabetes. However, his partner was very unwell though and went on to develop diabetes as well.

My brother and his daughter suspect they had it earlier in the year when testing wasn't so great. Both were fine, my niece is only in early 20s and fit and healthy, my brother's healthy too but not as young! (Mid 50s)

ChristmasCookies · 21/12/2020 00:54

About 16

Wbeezer · 21/12/2020 00:55

I know about 8 but all caught it abroad or far away, DSs girlfriend at her parents in San Francisco, one friend visiting her husband in New York, one friends husband at his father's funeral in Norway and a family of four in Cardiff a couple of weeks ago.
Don't know anyone nearby apart from one of DS3s teachers in the next town.

Wobbitcatcher · 21/12/2020 01:07

20
7 being my dad, sister, baby niece (who was hospitalised) and other family

8 being work friends (secondary school teacher but I’m on mat leave)

5 being other friends/acquaintances

If I was to count the people my dad knows with it or my grans friends etc would be quite a few more.

In South Wales where numbers are high
All these are within the last month!

Givemeabreak88 · 21/12/2020 01:09

It’s weird people have said hundreds, I’m in London and don’t know a single person that has had it let alone died from it
