I'm fucking done

I'm done. We've been isolating ready to see my parents and now we can't.

This is the third time now we've had to cancel plans last min and I'm sick of it! Totally sick of it!

*I'm sick of being told it's my job to "save the nhs" because it's not. I pay my taxes, it's the governments job to make sure it is funded and set up to deal with the unexpected.

Yes, this.

amusedbush · 19/12/2020 17:35

I'm in Scotland so I'm waiting for an update but we will no doubt follow suit. I've not broken any rules since this all kicked off in March and I have no intention of visiting anyone for Christmas but I'm due to meet my parents on the 23rd to swap gifts. Physically distanced, in a Premier Inn car park off a motorway exit halfway between our respective homes - how fucking depressing.

If the "window" is reduced to Christmas Day only then it means that me crossing the council area boundary just to swap gifts is against the rules. I've stayed at home, I've worked from my spare bedroom, I've not seen any friends or family since February, I've sacrificed my 30th birthday celebration and the graduation from my Masters degree, and I'm just about at the end of my tether.

VulvaPerson · 19/12/2020 17:35

Just had my sister on the phone raging. She said she would cover xmas at work because she was planning on seeing family on boxing day anyway, basically moving xmas back a day. I guess that will teach her for saying she will work xmas day to cover shortages, in the NHS Hmm

we're all done with it, but it's an evolving situation, making plans and expecting them to not be affected is foolish
@DappledOliveGroves

Without compassion we are nothing. Your logic is undeniable but it’s the human capability for compassion that gives us the edge. Compassion is everything. It is there when logic fails
Agree. Dappleds logic fucking chills me.

I’m vulnerable to this. Sorry to be such a fucking inconvenience to you all this Christmas. Shows how far “good will” really goes.

Pulling · 19/12/2020 17:37

@Dontforgetyourbrolly

For those of you saying any compliance will prevent further lockdowns ...nope ..this is going to be happening for a long, long time I for one, am sick of hearing BoJo say do such and such and we will be ok for Christmas/ Easter...etc etc. I think he was wrong to give us false hope
This. Is it really fucking surprising that people have lost the will to give a shit anymore? I'm sick of hearing 'do X and we'll be able to do Y', 'If we do Z, we'll be fine by..'

Nothing they say materialises. So yes, I don't blame people for thinking nothing they are doing is fucking working anyway so why bother.

CustardySergeant · 19/12/2020 17:37

@PeppaPigMakesMeGrrrrr

Urgh. This is why this shit is going on so long. Too many people thinking 'fuck it, I'll do what I want'. Selfish gits.
I couldn't agree more.
Armi · 19/12/2020 17:38

@TheKeatingFive

More interested in their fucking buffets.

Or, y’know, wanting to see elderly parents who we’ve been prevented from seeing for months at this stage and who will not live forever, Covid or no Covid.

There’s less chance of them being around for longer if they are exposed to Covid.

Fuck’s sake. Millions of us have elderly parents and other relatives we haven’t seen for months. Your situation is not unique.

midgebabe · 19/12/2020 17:38

To prevent the eldery from blocking up hospital beds in this pandemic we need to define eldery as. Something between 45 and 50

Still want to sacrifice the eldery and leave them out in the cold if they get ill?

This.
Yohoheaveho · 19/12/2020 17:39

Don't admit over 80s to hospital and give palliative care to them at home
yikes
the circle of 'don't admit to hospital/give palliative care' might well widen and include YOU!

Oliversmumsarmy · 19/12/2020 17:39

is2020over

We have 2 adult children and we all lost our normal jobs in March. Only picking up days here and there and a few other things to make a bit of money.
I have a list of Direct Debits and standing orders in date order and other bills that need paying and I am amazed we have got this far without missing a payment. It has been at times pretty hairy but this Tier 4 means I have no idea how we are supposed to survive.

I really feel for businesses of all shapes and sizes who keep having to close. It is not as though the bills stop if the business has to stop

HermioneMakepeace · 19/12/2020 17:40

Blame all the fucking twats not wearing masks and not social distancing. Entitled bunch of selfish wankers.

BuzzingTheBee · 19/12/2020 17:40

I’m with you. Sad

YakkityYakYakYak · 19/12/2020 17:42

Honestly, just do it anyway. My DM is still coming for the 5 days. There’s no way at it’s less risky for her to be here for just one day than it is for her to come and stay for 5 days. We won’t be leaving the house. I’m done with these ridiculous rules, there’s no sense to them.

She's absolutely right.
racetothemoon · 19/12/2020 17:42

How are they going to enforce this? Road blocks on the motorways out of the south-east? I will believe it when I see it.

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2020 17:42

There’s less chance of them being around for longer if they are exposed to Covid.

People seem to forget the many things that can kill you that aren’t Covid.

My fil died last year of a heart attack, aged 71. He was fit and healthy and was dead in half an hour.

So I’m very much live for the moment. I never said my situation was unique, but my parents have the right to choose the risks they want to take for themselves. Not getting Covid is not their only concern in life.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 19/12/2020 17:42

Look at Italy, look at Spain , really long and tough lockdowns , stricter than ours . Italy is back to square one
So they can stick their science right up their jacksies, and stop treating us like idiots that dont know viruses mutate all the time. Its like they think we are all ape men scared of fire!

PuppyMonkey · 19/12/2020 17:43

I don’t think saving the nhs means managing the organisational infrastructure or anything guys. It’s more, like, not having 40 million people all turn up at A&E at the same time because they were soooo done with lockdown and were going to carry on as normal now thank you very much.
@TheGremlinsAreComing Look at the photos online of shoppers and people at pubs. Look at the comments on this site.

That is why it's rising again.

This site is full of posters ignoring the rules and telling others to do that.
I'm in the north. It hasn't been an option for us as we've been pretty much locked down for months. Not my fault Boris had ballsed it up for the south by keeping it in tier 1 for too long.

Nanny0gg · 19/12/2020 17:43

@HermioneMakepeace

Blame all the fucking twats not wearing masks and not social distancing. Entitled bunch of selfish wankers.
And having lovely covid-spreading protests.

But it's all Bill Gates' and Big Pharma's fault. Oh yes.

TheGremlinsAreComing · 19/12/2020 17:44

@is2020over

I have to close my business from tonight. I had bookings until the 24th. These bookings were meant to help me and my staff out for potential lockdown during Jan. I'm absolutely devastated absolutely gutted.
I'm so sorry.
