I'm fucking done

I'm done. We've been isolating ready to see my parents and now we can't.

This is the third time now we've had to cancel plans last min and I'm sick of it! Totally sick of it!

OP posts:
Funkypolar · 19/12/2020 17:08

Only 4 months until my baby is born and then I can see my parents whenever I want as we can form a support bubble “your household includes a child who is under the age of one or was under that age on 2 December 2020.”

Not that there’ll be much of a country left between now and April, plus Brexit.

We are in tier 4 so I won’t be seeing them for Christmas but I am angry about it.

PuppyMonkey · 19/12/2020 17:09

Am I the only one who heard that bit about the new strain being 70% more transmissible? Shock

I’m not in the Tier 4 area, just in good old fashioned Tier 3, but I’m having a quiet one this year thanks very much, it’s just one Christmas.

JinglingHellsBells · 19/12/2020 17:09

I wish all the posters who say they are going to break the new rules would fuck off somewhere because they are going to prolong the lockdown for everyone. You are all utterly selfish and should be ashamed.

thebeachismyhappyplace2 · 19/12/2020 17:09

I think some of you have misunderstood - only tier 1,2 and 3 can mix households on Xmas day. Tier 4 is stay at home with your household!

nosswith · 19/12/2020 17:10

OP if you voted Tory or did not vote, you have contributed to this unintentionally.

My anger is that this should have been announced several days ago, or indeed never had a 'Christmas bubble' at all.

doublehalo · 19/12/2020 17:10

I'm with you OP. This is total bullshit.

Go and see your parents. We should all be doing likewise.

JinglingHellsBells · 19/12/2020 17:10

@TheKeatingFive

This is terrible news for everyone but if people don’t follow the rules it’s not going away and now it’s mutating

It’s not going away regardless of what people do. Keeping them away from their close family for months on end is no kind of answer.

Are you really so badly informed?

Its spread by people.

Keep away from people and it cannot transmit.

what is it about that you can't grasp?

Jakey056 · 19/12/2020 17:11

Watching this thread with interest. Not trolling but have any of you looked at NHS data, ICU Capacity or rise in cases versus ICU entry?
Not trolling just interested if you are reacting to media or facts as they are now two different things.
The responsibility for ensuring your healthcare system has capacity lies with the Govt and public policy but yet you are made to pay the price?

JinglingHellsBells · 19/12/2020 17:11

Starmer wanted the same.

Same old same old. Do you not think the majority of us HAVE been following the rules?? 9 months in and out look, covid still hasn't magically disappeared. And it won't. Not because people aren't abiding by the guidelines, because it's a VIRUS. And they don't just knob off like magic regardless of lockdowns.
JinglingHellsBells · 19/12/2020 17:11

@doublehalo

God, you're irresponsible.

Where is your common sense?

jellybe · 19/12/2020 17:12

For goodness sake Eid was shat all over back in the summer with little notice but as it is Christmas we can't possibly follow the rules and think about how our actions impact on others Hmm( though plenty of people were kicking off about Muslim communities meeting at the time)

I've not seen my family in god knows how long this totally sucks but I don't want to risk spreading this shitty disease.

Those of you saying you will not follow the rules why are your wants more important than the collective need? The selfishness of people in this country is astounding.

Oliversmumsarmy · 19/12/2020 17:12

All this tier 4 nonsense means is once figures drop and we come out of it then everyone will run out and meet up and crowd into shops again

This is why the last lockdown was ridiculous. Shutting shops weeks before Christmas just meant everyone crowding into shops as soon as they were open instead of a steady flow where you could try to SD.

I don’t think it takes a genius to see what is or was going to happen.

Jakey056 · 19/12/2020 17:13

@JinglingHellsBells
I think most people get that.
What trade off would you accept though? Total lock down? Forever?
As long as there are people the virus will be there probably for years. Do you want to roll lockdowns? Keep locked down? What would you do if you had to decide policy?

JinglingHellsBells · 19/12/2020 17:13

@TheGremlinsAreComing Look at the photos online of shoppers and people at pubs. Look at the comments on this site.

That is why it's rising again.

This site is full of posters ignoring the rules and telling others to do that.

Dee1975 · 19/12/2020 17:13

I am seeing a lot of ‘they’ ‘he’ ‘how dare they’ etc ....
yes it’s shit
Yes it’s bad timing / the government should have done this a few days ago ... evidence was there.
But - the government and the advisers arnt putting restrictions on our life’s for no reason. It’s because there is a bloody virus escalating. It’s not their fault. The virus doesn’t tell them weeks in advance what it plans to do.
I really feel sorry for people who have made plans. But the virus is the bad thing here.
The rules will suit some. It won’t suit others. The government is trying to appease the 60+ million different views and situations. It won’t suit you all.

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2020 17:13

because they are going to prolong the lockdown for everyone. You are all utterly selfish and should be ashamed.

It really doesn’t matter what they do. We need to move on from this illusion that we can ‘control’ a virus. We can’t. Lockdowns are less effective every time we do them and cases surge immediately after they’re lifted.

Time for a new strategy.

southeastdweller · 19/12/2020 17:14

To hell with the rules, just see your family!

is2020over · 19/12/2020 17:14

I have to close my business from tonight. I had bookings until the 24th. These bookings were meant to help me and my staff out for potential lockdown during Jan. I'm absolutely devastated absolutely gutted.

Oliversmumsarmy · 19/12/2020 17:15

All lockdowns do is funnel the numbers down the line

It doesn’t reduce the numbers. I think it makes the numbers worse

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 19/12/2020 17:15

What's more important, Christmas dinner or your families health?

The biggest risk to my mother's health is suicide from loneliness, bereavement (non covid related) and depression. The only thing keeping her going at the moment was the thought of a few days with my children over Christmas. She's alone in a big house full of memories of my dead dad and grandmother and a few hundred tramadol.

Covid is not the only thing killing people right now.

I'm in Scotland so am waiting with baited breath but I'm running out of tolerance.

No, we hold our nerve for another 2-3 months until the most vulnerable have had the vaccine. They are the ones who will die otherwise. The young are rarely affected (people in their 20s-40s.)

Some of us who are locked down now like me have very elderly parents, 100s miles away, who I can't see and wouldn't see, but my worry is that they will die (of something else) before I can see them.

If people stuck to the rules, the virus would be controlled faster.

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2020 17:16

I’m so sorry.

Bewareoftheblob · 19/12/2020 17:16

Are some of you listening to yourselves? It is a virus. It's spreading, which is what they do. It is NOT that dangerous. But the government has managed us into a mindset that makes us blame ourselves for deaths of loved ones? What the actual fuck??

JinglingHellsBells · 19/12/2020 17:17

THIS lockdown is to create a pause by which time more people will be vaccinated. We are almost there, with older people being vaccinated now,

Just suck it up and in a few weeks things will be better.
