I’m on CPAP. Everyone is doing their best to keep me alive but I feel traumatised. Family and friends are still asleep. Is anyone there to talk to me?

Good morning op, another hand hold here. it will soon be daylight and Hosp breakfast time. What happened, how did you end up in hospital? Thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 19/12/2020 07:18

Joining the others to cheer you on. Would funny or interesting links be helpful? I'm sure I could scour the Internet for something that tickles your fancy if so....

Would it help or upset you to hear what everybody plans to do today? I like to picture other people's normal day to day lives when I'm struggling but I know it could be upsetting for others.

I do fact giving Due South a go now though. Great sell pp! Is it Netflix? A friend gave me access to her Disney plus because self isolating with two small children required additional entertainment- only I've ended up watching it more than they have! Can you believe i had never seen Wall-E? I'm now slightly obsessed with it...

ZaraTheWonderDog · 19/12/2020 07:20

Hope you managed to get some rest. You sound like a tough cookie and you'll get through this. x

Starlightstarbright1 · 19/12/2020 07:21

Coldwinterahead1 · 19/12/2020 07:23

Sending you love and strength xx

eaglejulesk · 19/12/2020 07:23

Sending you best wishes OP. It must be tough, hang on in there. Flowers

linerforlife · 19/12/2020 07:27

Hope you've had a nice chat with your husband on Skype OP. Thank goodness for technology - both the CPAP and the comms!! OP remember how many times you told yourself during your breast cancer treatment that you could get through it and you did? Well you can get through this too. One day, or one hour even, at a time. Thanks

Midwife1997 · 19/12/2020 07:34

Be assured we are all rooting for you. Baby steps. With love from all of us. X

lifebytheby · 19/12/2020 07:48

Keep fighting OP Thanks

Atalune · 19/12/2020 07:49

You’re doing so well. To be able to answer posts and make jokes, you’re doing great.

Machine sounds ducking hideous. But it is finite you’ll be off it soon Nd in the mean time you’ll manage because you’re a woman. And let’s face women are bloody strong.

Do you have a screen? Prime? Netflix? If you want to watch some easy things I can like to watch and rewatch when I am ill....I recommend
The office
Parks and recreation
Friends
Brooklyn 99
Sex in the city
The crown
Nigella- her voice is soporific

If you prefer listening to things, audible is great

Jon Ronson- so you’ve been publically shamed
Elenor oliphant is completely fine
Salmon fishing in the Yemen
Ramble book - Adam Buxton

Podcasts-
without fail by Alex Blumberg
Adam Buxton
The crypto currency Queen- bbc sounds.

How was your Skype with your husband?

autumnboys · 19/12/2020 07:50

Good morning, LittleSpy. Flowers I hope you’re feeling better now the sun’s up & that you can get some rest today.

Frenchdressing · 19/12/2020 07:54

Hello again. Hope you’re OK. I haven’t slept since I was last in here. Periodic bout of insomnia.

OllietheOwl · 19/12/2020 07:55

Morning OP. I hope you were able to get some rest and the worst of this is over for you. Stay strong Flowers

frumpety · 19/12/2020 08:00

Hope you managed to get through to your DH ?

Can you think of anything you need to make your stay easier, some cordial to put in the water they give you ? Hospital water always seems to taste odd. Earplugs so you can get some rest during the noiser parts of the day ? sucky sweets to help keep your mouth moist. Any podcasts you could download to help distract you ? The Obama series on radio 4 is good, he has such a lovely calm tone to his voice, almost soporific. I am sure people could suggest other good ones ?

I know you aren't allowed Flowers or Gin on the ward , but you can have these for when you get home Smile

Bagelsandbrie · 19/12/2020 08:02

Morning op, what a horrible thing to be going through. Sending you lots of Flowers

QueenPaws · 19/12/2020 08:05

Morning Smile
I can recommend the calm app, the audio stories are fab. I especially like the train ones weirdly but they're all very relaxing and 30 mins or so of distraction
Virgin river, northern rescue and the good witch on Netflix if you have access are all easy watching

AntiHop · 19/12/2020 08:06

Did you get some sleep?

ComDummings · 19/12/2020 08:09

Aw OP I hope you managed to get some sleep.

whatwedontknow · 19/12/2020 08:09

What does the CPAP do? Is it like a normal CPAP but with oxygen? Hope you’re feeling more rested this morning. I take it you are not in ITU?

I don’t think the media are giving us enough insight into hospitals to see how it really is affecting people.

FairyFairy · 19/12/2020 08:11

Wishing you all the best OP, I can't imagine how frightening it must be Thanks

MrsLebowski · 19/12/2020 08:16

Hope you are getting on ok OP and manage to talk to your DH. We are always watching Friends for a little light relief. It's still funny after a few viewings.

ravensoaponarope · 19/12/2020 08:18

Hi, lovely, you've got through another night. well done. When I'm in a frightened place, I find visualising being held by a loved one helps. I recreate the feeling in great detail. xx

Googlebrained · 19/12/2020 08:24

Hey OP, hope you've been able to get some restorative sleep in. Sometimes just dropping off for a little bit at a time can help.

You're obviously an amazing fighter. Keep going. It is a bit scary when you get breathless with CV but you can get through it.
