I’m on CPAP. Everyone is doing their best to keep me alive but I feel traumatised. Family and friends are still asleep. Is anyone there to talk to me?

Good we are here to make you feel better ... your body knows what to do to fight this xx

SophieB100 · 19/12/2020 06:18

Bless you OP, I'm here too, with a virtual hand hold.
My DD is an ICU nurse, and says they are seeing more and more cases now where patients are doing very well on CPAP - much better than in the Spring.

Couldn’t read and not send a message.
You are obviously a fighter, I have a great deal of knowledge in the battle against TBNC and it is a battle. You’ve fought that you can do this. Try and focus on something happy/positive, allow the machine to do its work, try and sleep, rest is so important. You can do this.

Becstarlenski · 19/12/2020 06:24

I’m here to OP up early to go to work, I have heard very good things about CPap, you are in the right place.
Close your eyes and picture a rose, what colour is it, does it smell ? How does it feel imagine it in your hand, then star to gentle take each petal off from the outside. Do each petal slowly. This is a good stress exercise. Hopeful it will help calm you a little. You got this, 3 hrs is nothing x

Cantchooseaname · 19/12/2020 06:24

I think the end of the night is always hardest. You’ve fought through the dark hours.
It’s just about a reasonable time- is there someone you can drop a text to? Let them know it is tough and you need some virtual love?

Benjispruce2 · 19/12/2020 06:27

Ah you poor thing. Wishing you a speedy recovery so you can get the hell out of there. Sending positive thoughts your wayFlowers

Hi OP, sorry you are going through this. It sounds like you're a tough cookie with it.

would you like to be distracted /general company?
I've not seen Due South either. Have you watched any series or good films lately?

KatherineJaneway · 19/12/2020 06:40

Morning Flowers

I find that picturing something lovely in great detail helps. So I think of the perfect holiday and I go through each and every detail. How the sun felt, what the sea smelt like, the things I'd do, food I would eat etc. It can help calm you.

Thisgirlcanrun · 19/12/2020 06:42

Due South is brilliant (although I am biased) it is a TV show from the 90’s all about a Canadian Mountie named Benton Fraser (gorgeous) and his half wolf/husky Diefenbaker who travel to Chicago on the trail of the murderer of Fraser’s father (also a Canadian Mountie) - he stays in Chicago solving other crimes with his Chicago PD partner Ray Vecchio - the characters are brilliant with their chemistry and the cases they solve are heart warming 😊

Morning. I couldn't read and run. Offering a hand to hold. Hope you're able to talk to somebody in real life soon. Are you able to put Netflix or something on your phone? Flowers

SlothWithACloth · 19/12/2020 06:44

Hey op. It sounds really tough but you will get through it. Lots of positive thoughts from me too.

PinkPlantCase · 19/12/2020 06:45

Hi OP, sending a hand hold Flowers you’re doing so so well.

Not being able to breathe is so scary, I was on respiratory wards a lot in my early 20s and I found even just being on the ward a bit traumatising. So many sounds.

Thank goodness for the internet, you must be a good way through your 3 hours now.

Just think about the giant hug you can give your DH when you leave hospital Grin

FestiveStuffing · 19/12/2020 06:50

When you're going through hell, keep going. I'm sorry you're struggling. I hated being in hospital when well, I imagine it's truly awful when actually ill, and especially at this time of year. Hopefully you'll be out of there soon.

Omeara · 19/12/2020 06:51

Hope you get to speak to your husband soon and are then able to get some rest.

You’ve been through so much already and you’ll get through this too.

everythingthelighttouches · 19/12/2020 06:52

Reading and sending you massive hugs.

My son was in icu when he was very little for a long time and was very ill.

I agree with another poster, it’s the end of the night when you go to really dark places.

Just try and take strength from the knowledge of how you’ve overcome such difficult things before.

You are pretty amazing and strong and part of that strength is knowing when you feel shit and allowing yourself to “be weak” every now and again.

It’s OK to feel scared, but you’ll feel more positive again in the morning.

I’m so impressed with you that you took the step to put a message on mumsnet. That is an act of self care in itself. That’s brilliant. Remember you are a pro at surviving.

You’ll be in my thoughts today OP.

Morning. Hope you manage to get some sleep soon.

thelegohooverer · 19/12/2020 07:02

Morning. Hope you’re feeling a little stronger this morning. Flowers

Ineedaduvetday · 19/12/2020 07:06

Hold on Flowers You're doing so well

Tierful · 19/12/2020 07:12

It'll be getting light soon. Sending you strength.

Can you listen to the radio or podcasts? I find that helps with the demons of dark before the dawn. Flowers
