Gosh I am so impatient, exposed to two separate cases thursday and friday last week (guess where I work?), they informed me Sunday evening and Monday I got symptoms (fever Monday evening, sore throat, flu-like symptoms), tested 8am yesterday. I feel fairly ok, no idea what I have, but the not knowing is doing my head in. I'm currently self-isolating in my bedroom away from the family to try and stop it spreading (they would have to isolate over christmas :( we'd like to at least go out for a walk! and I don't want my husband and children to be ill if I can help it). But, if this is just some weird snot-less cold then I'd like to start going back to life.

I hope this helps. I know of a few people where other people at their work place got it. These other people were tested and reuslts came back negative.

Todayisgood2 · 16/12/2020 16:56

I think I may work in a similar place! Just got a negative after 2 TAs positive! Hope all is good

Frownette · 16/12/2020 16:58

Me too!! (The waiting and starting to feel like a cat on a hot tin roof)

Same sort of timescale as well, should have been received back yesterday morning (home test). Same symptoms.

Let's do something to distract ourselves and fingers crossed.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 16/12/2020 17:03

I think my line of work is the same, was exposed last Wednesday and Friday, today I have a tickly throat and tickly cough/throat clear. Can’t decide whether to test or not and if these are actual symptoms or I am just incredibly anxious and creating symptoms that aren’t really there.
Hopefully you come back negative x

Frownette · 16/12/2020 17:06

It wouldn't hurt I guess @AHippoNamedBooBooButt.

Perhaps testing unit are ultra busy this week.

Bramblespoint · 16/12/2020 17:13

Yep the wait is horrible we are also waiting :(

Surely though your whole family need to isolate you if have symptoms regardless of whether you are shut in your bedroom?

FurForksSake · 16/12/2020 17:13

allAHippoNamedBooBooButt yes, I think I'd get a test with those symptoms.

It's just so boring waiting and wondering, the kids are hopeful I've got it so they can miss the final two days of school. I'm considering keeping them off regardless now so that when my isolation is up we are then fairly safe.

Yes, we are all isolating within the house, I am just isolating from them within the house to hope they don't get it and then have to isolate beyond my ten days.

So fed up of checking my emails! My brain has decided that I either didn't get a good enough swab (it made me gag so I had to go back in several times to get some throat..) or it is positive and that's why it is taking longer than my friend's negatives (24 and 28 hrs). My close contact took 48hrs for a positive apparently.

Also wish I knew what the latest / earliest time a result could ping through so I could forget about it for this evening. I'm fat and asthmatic and DH has a heart condition so it is more of a worry than it might be.

OP where abouts in the country are you? I tested this morning after starting with a cough during the night and am fed up waiting already!!

Coffeeandcrumpet · 16/12/2020 19:42

I have had results come through at 10pm and 2am so seems to be 24/7. Sorry that may not be helpful, good luck though

I'm in the home counties.

I didn't realise how frustrating the wait would be!

Also trying to work out what day I am on as to when things might worsen, that's not a good thing to be thinking about.

Actually, that is quite helpful so I know I am not necessarily waiting till tomorrow.

We had tests around midday on Monday and the results came around 2pm today. - Essex.

(Negative but our tests were due to mass testing, not symptoms so expected).

golightlytoday · 16/12/2020 19:51

I sent three home tests off at 3pm Monday.

One came text and email 3:30pm, one 6pm and then one a 11:55pm Tuesday

Pretty impressive turnaround really

Annny27 · 16/12/2020 20:20

I am also waiting @furforkssake since 9am yesterday and also wondering if I did the test wrong haha!

MrsPerfect12 · 16/12/2020 22:30

I'm hoping for a negative test result tomorrow. Flu like symptoms and major fatigue. Supposed to be in hospital on Sat for Op - the reason for my test.

RhubarbTea · 16/12/2020 22:39

I'm waiting too, I did my postal test at 2pm on Monday and am climbing the walls, it took a while to arrive to me so I have been isolating since Friday evening when I developed symptoms, and I am so bored and lonely. I go a bit weird if I can't leave the house. Keep checking my email and phone obsessively but nothing.

My test was also - apparently - magically delivered from Cornwall to the test centre by 9pm on the same day I posted it, when I somehow doubt. (What did they do, private helicopter it there?) So I am worried mine's been lost too and I will have to do the full 10 days. Sad

1990s · 16/12/2020 22:59

Did mine Monday and put in post about midday. Nothing back yet....

1990s · 16/12/2020 23:01

Forgot to keep tracking number so can’t even check if it got there.... Sad

Annny27 · 16/12/2020 23:03

@RhubarbTea I am also worrying I will have to do the full 10 days but also I am annoyed because I want to know if I have it or not!

FurForksSake · 16/12/2020 23:06

I'm trying to decide whether to try and book another test just in case. It would waste a slot potentially but if they have lost it I do need to know (school won't have to isolate anyone but it may be part of a wider outbreak that needs reporting).

I really want to sleep but my brain is whirring.

DN had a test on Sunday results came back Monday. Thankfully she was negative.

LiG123 · 16/12/2020 23:22

@FurForksSake you can't Book another for 10 days in between.

That's why it's silly when people test because they've been in contact, get a negative and then feel ill but can't get another one

RhubarbTea · 16/12/2020 23:27

Just got my result via email - negative! Thank God. I'm going for such a long walk and a run tomorrow. I hope everyone else gets their results soon.

In total it took 33 hours ish from testing and posting it which is good... I guess. Waiting for test to arrive to take it took another 1-2 days.
