What it says. Children have already been impacted by prolonged school closures, individual isolation, inadequate teaching, isolation from peers and this will have impacted on their education, psychological and social development and mental and physical health. It is concerning for the majority of parents that there is a push for schools to close.

Please no derailment. This is an important issue that will affect a whole generation. There are numerous threads here about enforcing restrictions and limiting access to schools so please discuss concerns about these issues elsewhere.

Teacher hating. People can tell the difference between ‘I disagree with masks in schools because it might interfere with the teaching of phonics’ and ‘OmG i HoPe YoU dOnT tEaCh My ChIlDrEn’

AllDoneIn · 02/12/2020 20:06

I'm still giggling at the idea of 'safe space' and 'school' being used in the same sentence without irony. School in Britain that is. Ram them in like sardines with no masks. Safe space my ass 😂

herecomesthsun · 02/12/2020 20:06

Does this work?

😷🎌grin

HOW does it work?

I think someone needs to tell me.

but I do like it thank you.

Disliking you as a poster doesn't make people teacher haters. You don't stand for all teachers! You've made not very nice comment about parents and you expect them to hope their children have teachers just like you?

I have a lot of respect for teachers, my son's teachers are brilliant. But I'd be very, very surprised if they were slagging parents off all over the internet.

gotyerhat · 02/12/2020 20:10

Ooh I know a delightful little teacher bashing anti-masker Facebook group you'd absolutely love OP. I have a feeling you might already know about it though.

noblegiraffe · 02/12/2020 20:10

You've made not very nice comment about parents

All parents? Or the ones actively campaigning for an unsafe workplace for myself and my colleague?

Is this a rerun of the batshit argument? 😴

You've made a lot of comments about parents in general and not just posters specifically. But even if we're talkinga bout posters specifically why do you think you deserve their respect? Why would they respect you?
pastandpresent · 02/12/2020 20:12

@herecomesthsun

I just wanted to show support to the teachers, so I tried to find the emoji you suggested.
I couldn't find vaccine or virals or perspex screens. That is all.

pastandpresent · 02/12/2020 20:14

Tbh, I am not native English speaker, I may have misunderstood your post. But my motive is genuine.

noblegiraffe · 02/12/2020 20:16

You've made a lot of comments about parents in general

Doubt it.

But even if we're talkinga bout posters specifically why do you think you deserve their respect? Why would they respect you?

I don’t give a shit if they don’t respect me. I care not the slightest jot whether the batshit brigade hold me in regard or not. Their opinions are worth zero to me.

You said before that I should be trying to win them over. Why? They are terrible people. I don’t want them to like me, that would be a sign that I’m doing something wrong.

They are, thankfully, in a tiny minority.

herecomesthsun · 02/12/2020 20:17

Oh it was great, thank you again, I'm not doubting your motives at all x

CallmeAngelina · 02/12/2020 20:21

@TrustTheGeneGenie, you seem to be forgetting that many teachers are also parents.

No, I know that.

Barbie222 · 02/12/2020 20:24

I don't have the opposite viewpoint to the op, I am not bashing her etc. Defending her right to have a thread just like the teachers want their threads.
Of course she has the right to have a thread, but she doesn't have the right to ask that only supportive comments be posted on it. Put bluntly, if you're talking shite, you'll be told so, and if you can't rebut the points made, it isn't the other posters' fault if you look like a tit.

Ah here we are again using mental health as an insult. But you didn't like people questioning your mental health, did you?

People who disagree with you are terrible people? I see. Self important aren't we.

On the whole I agree but tell a teacher they're talking shit..... You'll get bollocked by hq. Why is that?
Shieldingending · 02/12/2020 20:26

We all want them fully open!! But until there are no Covid cases and subsequent self isolation that won't be happening. OP you do realise that we need staff to run the schools ?!

noblegiraffe · 02/12/2020 20:26

People who disagree with you are terrible people?

No, people who actively campaign for lower safety standards for workers are terrible people.

Do try to keep up.

Who's doing that? I don't think it's really anyone on Mumsnet is it? Posting here isn't campaigning for lower safety standards.
herecomesthsun · 02/12/2020 20:28

I think HQ will intervene in the case of excessively abusive and personal comments. "Shit" posts are subjective per se., personal attacks less so.

noblegiraffe · 02/12/2020 20:28

Disingenuous, Trust

It's not disingenuous at all. Who's campaigning for lower safety standards? On Mumsnet? Go on.... Give us a list.

Mhm. You'd think so. They're selective.
herecomesthsun · 02/12/2020 20:29

People who demand that covid safety levels in schools should be low, are insisting on low levels of safety in the workplace for teachers (and pupils and anyone else in there)

Barbie222 · 02/12/2020 20:30

On the whole I agree but tell a teacher they're talking shit..... You'll get bollocked by hq. Why is that?

Personal attacks are not in the spirit.
