What it says. Children have already been impacted by prolonged school closures, individual isolation, inadequate teaching, isolation from peers and this will have impacted on their education, psychological and social development and mental and physical health. It is concerning for the majority of parents that there is a push for schools to close.

Please no derailment. This is an important issue that will affect a whole generation. There are numerous threads here about enforcing restrictions and limiting access to schools so please discuss concerns about these issues elsewhere.

Well school isn't a fucking safe space op. 2 of my 3 dds are now at home and my year 12 might as well be as all bar one of her teachers are self isolating or have COVID
This is a low case area and the school has done everything they can to mitigate.
I feel for the kids and the school staff. It is shit.

O and incidentally op I would love school to be fully open but it can't be. In fact I fully expect to get email closing Secondary any day now as they will not have enough staff.
Not sure how she will be able to sit her January exam.

It's such a shitty situation for children and school staff.

It very distressing how the govt have allowed the virus to rip through schools, when there were plenty of mitigation measurers that could and should be put in place.

It's also very distressing to see all the posts and threads on MN minimising or ignoring the reality of the situation and blaming teachers. That's what is letting the govt off the hook, over and over again.

@Billie18

How do you feel about the issue now that a new Tier 4 has been introduced?

I live in tier 2 and want schools to go back on the 5th as planned.
