How many times has your family isolated

A lady on another thread said they have been isolating on and off since September, as childrens bubble at school kept having cases. I wonder is this normal? My family and I haven’t had to isolate at all yet, which I know could happen at any time. How many times have you had to self isolate since September and what area are you in?

We're in a low case area

Bridecilla · 28/11/2020 20:14

None for ds. He's Year 4 of a 2 form entry primary. Every single year bubble has been off bar his.

Dp once - he got 8 days via the NHS app.

Me once - 10 days via NHS app

We both work in a massive college so surprised it's only been once each tbh

middleager · 28/11/2020 20:15

Thanks OP. Because it's so bad at school DH and I don't go anywhere and wfh - can't afford to bring it in ourselves on top.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 28/11/2020 20:16

I'm not @Baileysforchristmas
The last one had me declaring if we had to do this shit again, I just couldn't.

I've declared I am not doing home learning. Two kids to cope with (one with autism and adhd) plus my manager making me work from home (midwife!). I'm going insane. I have cried every day. I can not do this. I feel so unprofessional when women are on the phone to me.

I've never had mental health issues. But I can feel me heading right over that way.

3 times for 14 days each time. West Yorkshire.

InspectorAlleyn · 28/11/2020 20:20

Zero. Not sure how.
I’m a teacher in one primary school.
3DC all attend a different primary school.
My school only lost its first bubble this week. Not sure how as we are tier 3.
I do feel on borrowed time!

TolstoyAteMyHamster · 28/11/2020 20:21

DS (14) - three times now, including when DP, DD and I had it (I assume he was asymptomatic)

The rest of us, none. We obviously quarantined when we were ill but poor old DS is the only one to have repeatedly been locked away. He’d only just gone back to school after the last time, and managed a grand total of four days before being sent home again.

Dauphinois · 28/11/2020 20:24

Twice

Baileysforchristmas · 28/11/2020 20:29

@ThisMustBeMyDream big hug 🤗 I hope it gets better for you and your family x

DH and I- zero despite him being a full time key worker.
DS- One 12 day isolation due to positive case in his school friendship group. Some of his friends have done 2 or 3 isolations now.
We are West Yorkshire so Tier 3.
Also have quite a few friends who have been told to isolate due to the App.

Elladisenchanted · 28/11/2020 20:35

Since September:

3x as a family, waiting for test results (4 days, 1 day, 5 days), once from me having a cough, and twice from baby high temp/cough, all negative.

Oldest ds 2x, 14 days each (positive cases in school), he had less than a week between them back in, and has just narrowly escaped a 3rd isolation (some classmates are on round 3)

Next ds 1 x 14 days - school contact.
They've mostly not crossed over each other so been one after the other causing so many childcare issues.

We're in North Manchester t3.

Swishswish26 · 28/11/2020 20:37

@middleeager completely agree. Not scared of the virus, just of the worry of repeated isolations. Have cancelled all extra curricular activities as just seems like an extra risk. Will hopefully resume them all in the Spring.

JeanMichelBisquiat · 28/11/2020 20:39

Three times, all as a whole family. Full two weeks at end of March with coughs etc, when no testing available, then a couple of days in September when DS had a cough (negative), then last couple of weeks as DS and I positive. Suspect it won't be the end of it - incredibly lucky that both DH and I can work from home.

princesspeppax · 28/11/2020 20:45

None, so far. Family of 5 in central Scotland

PrivateD00r · 28/11/2020 20:46

We had to isolate for a day or two on 2 occasions whilst awaiting results (negative).

We all recently had to isolate as I had a positive result.

None of the 3 DC have had positive cases in school however one DC has had their class close twice as a precaution whilst awaiting results and a further time because there was a delay securing supply and the teacher was isolating (due to contact outside the classroom).

I think the DC have been very lucky!

Pipandmum · 28/11/2020 20:48

None. One child at secondary one at college. In fact don't know anyone who has had to from a school (had two adult friends who tested positive).

EatDessertFirst · 28/11/2020 20:50

North Kent - just DD12 having to isolate once due to close contact at school with a positive case. Nothing for me or my DS10. We are in a tier 3 hotspot. Just been lucky I think AND both schools have a rigorous covid system.

SylvieSangFroid · 28/11/2020 20:53

For contact with a positive case, never so far. One dc at primary school, the other at childcare. We have tested dd twice for symptoms which came back negative.

Oldraver · 28/11/2020 21:03

Whole family once when OH came down with something and we waited for just negative test

DS currently on day 12 of isolation due to someone at school testing positive

lorisparkle · 28/11/2020 21:04

Right at the beginning ds3 had a cough so we all had to isolate as there was no tests

Ds1 in year 10 has been in and out of isolation since returning to school - once he had a high temperature so we all had to
Isolate waiting for the results. Since then he has had 3 cases in his year - one day isolation for each case until the final case where they have now decided to do online learning for the whole year .

Ds2 in year 8 had had one case in his year and had one day off school. They have just had another case in the year so he is back at home again.

No cases in ds3's bubble

Cases in 2 year groups at DH's school but he has not had to self isolate

One case at my school which is not in my bubble,

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 28/11/2020 21:06

Currently 3 days in to our first. A positive test in dc1's class.

ShaunaTheSheep · 28/11/2020 21:10

None, southeast
DS at uni in a northern city has isolated once due to COVID cases in his flat.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 28/11/2020 21:12

None, still only know one person who has tested positive since March and she is a nurse, we are in Dorset

Stellashere · 28/11/2020 21:19

North west
DH-0
Me -0
DD12 -0
DD10 - once for 14 days due to positive case at school

Feel we have got off lightly

ThisMustBeMyDream · 28/11/2020 21:23

Thank you @Baileysforchristmas. I can only hope. It is all I have right now!

We are also going through a personal hell from DP's ex making malicious allegations and withholding contact impacting me with her allegations and DP with not seeing his daughter. We don't make for a cheerful family right now!

Oh and on the first day of our last isolation (the same day as DP's ex made her allegations and he came down with covid - and also my birthday) our beloved cat was run over.

Life is really testing us right now!!
