How many times has your family isolated

A lady on another thread said they have been isolating on and off since September, as childrens bubble at school kept having cases. I wonder is this normal? My family and I haven’t had to isolate at all yet, which I know could happen at any time. How many times have you had to self isolate since September and what area are you in?

Three times . Just before lockdown started due to my cough . Sept when youngest had a temperature and Oct when the kids dad had a positive test .

BettyOBarley · 28/11/2020 19:24

West Yorkshire.
Once, just after kids went back to school in Sept due a case in DC's bubble.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 28/11/2020 19:26

Once in April when DH had (probable) COVID. None since then. One child in primary SE London.

NorthernChinchilla · 28/11/2020 19:28

Three times.
Once was precautionary, we'd seen family and it looked like my brother could have it, so we stayed in till his negative test.
One for DS, bubble burst.
One for DD- one day before DS returned, the after school club bubble burst, so she's at home at the mo, goes back Tues.
We're in T3 Kent, it's rampant, so I'm expecting more....three bubbles have gone in DD's school in the past six days Confused

Shieldingending · 28/11/2020 19:29

Secondary age child 3 times!! It's an absolute nightmare... I'm a teacher, and not yet had to isolate (although currently shielding) however that's good luck as many of my colleagues have

3littlewords · 28/11/2020 19:31

1 dc has had to isolate once we haven't had to isolate at all as a family- Liverpool area

middleager · 28/11/2020 19:31

He's had 68 sessions missed out of school in self isolation (so 34 school days)
And 52 sessions actually at school (26 days).

PilatesPeach · 28/11/2020 19:37

None. I am single & live alone. I work in leisure sector which has been closed for 5 months of this year so that is 5 months that I pretty much saw no one. When I did go back to work for just 3 months before current lockdown, I was always 2m away from people and took on extra work to make up for lost money so haven't really socialised.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/11/2020 19:46

March: two weeks, (one week before lockdown)
Aug 3 days waiting for test results
Once three days waiting for ds's results.
Once four days waiting for my results
Ds two X 14 days
Dd one X 11 days

Dd has an extra three days at home as school is closed.

Lost count of how many days he has lost of school. He had two days in school before he was off again for 14.

LST · 28/11/2020 19:48

None (touchwood) and that is 2 kids at a primary and we live in a high case area

BlackeyedSusan · 28/11/2020 19:49

And the council have asked the children to test so we are waiting more results.

TheFluffiestCat · 28/11/2020 19:49

Two days waiting for DD's test results. It was the inevitable back-to-school cold, but she was coughing so we had to make sure.

orangeicecream · 28/11/2020 19:52

Me - none
DD13 - 1 day whilst school tracked and traced
DS15 - just started 2 week iso due to contact at school.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 28/11/2020 19:53

Loads.
Greater Manchester area.

2 weeks in March just prior to school closures. Youngest had a cough.

6 weeks later I had a cough - keyworker so got a test which came back after 2 days, negative.

A few weeks after that the eldest and youngest both had coughs. Another 3 days isolation awaiting their results.

That was it until September.

Since September my eldest did 14 days due to college bubble bursting.
Swiftly followed by my middle one - 14 days for the same reason.
The next day, my youngest - 14 days as breakfast club bubble burst.

They returned 1 week prior to half term.

3 days back at school after half term - 14 more days for all of us. My other half tested positive.

5 days after we got our freedom I tested positive on my very first lateral flow test in work.

So now we are back in a 2 week isolation.

So in 9 weeks, we will have done 6 weeks isolation.

Yes, I'm losing my shit.

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 28/11/2020 19:54

0 times here in Eastern Scotland. High Schooler and nursery child.
A husband that works all over.

CarryOnWalking · 28/11/2020 19:58

Ds1 7 days
Ds2 14 days

Me and dh haven’t had to so far.

trilbydoll · 28/11/2020 19:59

None so far. DDs are Y1 and Y3 and as far as I'm aware neither school has had any cases. I do feel like we are on borrowed time in that respect!

DH has been wfh throughout, I've been back in the office since Sept but there's hardly anyone there so I'm not sure that's a particularly risky activity. We all think someone at work had it in Feb but obviously at that time you couldn't get a test unless you were hospitalised.

NE Hampshire.

Boringnamechanging · 28/11/2020 20:02

3 times

March for a fortnight due to dc1 and 2 having a fever
November for 3 days (whole family) whilst awaiting result
November again dc1 school bubble positive test

BillyAndTheSillies · 28/11/2020 20:02

We were in isolation from March 16th for two weeks. DS2 and I were extremely poorly.

None since then, DS1 has been at preschool since June and started school in September in one of the hard hit London boroughs. His school have had three cases.

starrynight19 · 28/11/2020 20:03

Dd 3 times one home , two school
Dd twice , one home, one school
Dp once , one home
Me twice , one home , one school (waiting on a test result due to cases in school so we could all be doing another lot)

North West

ShitXmasCracker · 28/11/2020 20:04

Kids have had 2 lots of isolation since late October. I’ve had one. Dreading more.

middleager · 28/11/2020 20:06

My fear of even more self isolation is now bigger than my fear of catching Covid.

Baileysforchristmas · 28/11/2020 20:09

@ThisMustBeMyDream wow how on Earth are you keeping sane, I couldn’t cope with 6 week isolating. Flowers to everyone who is isolating, my heart goes out to you,

OP posts:
Baileysforchristmas · 28/11/2020 20:11

@middleager i’m with you i’m more scared of isolating over and over again. I don’t go near anyone because of this reason but daughter is at secondary school so it’s only a matter of time x

OP posts:
frustrationcentral · 28/11/2020 20:12

None!

Apparently DS2's school is one of only a few to not have had any (known!) cases yet. DS1 goes to college where there has been 2 (again known) cases - but the timetables meant apart from the student in question no one else had to SI

I'm feeling it's more likely I'll be SI soon, I work in early years
