Christmas needs to be cancelled.

So the suggestion to make it possible for the world to go and be super spreaders at Christmas is to stay in lockdown until Christmas, then open up for five days, then go back into lockdown for another 25 days (at least), five days for every day we’re out of lockdown.

Are people really that desperate to have a get together they could have at any other time of the year, maybe in the summer when this pandemic is under control, that they’re willing to spend months in lockdown to achieve it? Really?

My personal opinion is that it is our duty as a society to have a low key Christmas regardless of whether they take this ridiculous measure or not.

I understand that for some they want to see family at Christmas, but these ridiculous suggestions have gone too far.

Just cancel Christmas and give us an extra bank holiday next year to make up for it.

Whether it’s cancelled or not is irrelevant to me. I will be seeing my family whatever happens!

You might want to keep that quiet. If one my kids didn’t get medical treatment because the hospital was stuffed full of those who did what they liked at Xmas I’d say all bets were off and I’d be coming for you.

Good luck with that, but I'd keep quiet about that! Vigilantes are not popular.

I went on a walk last night and saw a lot of houses with decorations up already. I think ppl see Christmas as the only highlight in what has been a shit year

I agree with a lot of what op has said but regardless of what the gov decide to say, ppl will make Christmas the highlight of their year

I normally don't bother with many decs or a tree, but this year I have.
Not sure why as I'm not even keen on Christmas really. Just a feeling of wanting a bit of light amongst the gloom I think and the radio are playing the Christmas songs early too this year. People need a bit of cheer!

Not looking like it's going to be "cancelled", looks as if we are going to have some loosening of restrictions!

FedUpOfAllThis · 23/11/2020 17:17

Yes, I am that desperate for a get together and I would have seen my family anyway even if Boris said no meeting up. This year has been utter shit and I’m not willing to life like this anymore so I will see my family and we will all take our chances.

I’d say all bets were off and I’d be coming for you.

How would you be doing that then? I'm intrigued to know.
