Ours was yesterday people just mooching about, some on groups of 3 adults.
The clothing, Christmas and home ware sections were rammed. Couldn't fit another trolley trough if I wanted to.
People will do it because there's nothing else to do.
DH drive past the range on the way to work and he said the que must of been 100 people Long in the pissing rain

SirFlouncealot · 14/11/2020 11:47

People got to eat just like you hence the reason you were also there.

The lockdown is aimed at preventing gatherings for prolonged periods in an attempt to limit the spread of infection.

Jrobhatch29 · 14/11/2020 11:48

They were probably there for the same reason as you OP

frozendaisy · 14/11/2020 11:49

Because it's the only place people can go to get out of the house right now.

I usually do online supermarket (many years previous to 2020) as always said supermarket shopping is tedious, but now as delivery slots are fewer I actually think the supermarket is a trip out! Sad I know, but on a usual Saturday morning think how many kids/parents are doing sports and activities, people travelling to meet friends, shopping for clothes to go out later etc etc.

Right now the supermarket is as good as it gets!
Pass the gin Gin

itsgettingweird · 14/11/2020 11:54

Why are they rammed? Surely they should still be limiting numbers of people?

I think part of coming out of lockdown these are things government need to set. People per sq meter indoors etc rather than closing everything or opening everything.

roarfeckingroarr · 14/11/2020 11:55

Our local pub and a restaurant/bar are open. Getting round rules by asking customers to order in advance and then selling "take away" drinks that people are drinking outside with heat lamps on.

Just come back from local ASDA and its bedlam!!
Sanctimonious. You were fucking there, so why can't others.
Christmaspud20 · 14/11/2020 12:08

And I guess if a shop for example allowed 100 people in there's nothing to police 40 in one aisle? So appears more rammed.
The asda I went to allows 1200 in as has the count thing on entry.
It was on 998 when I went in
The food part was just normal.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/11/2020 12:10

These threads make me roll my eyes every time. Coming on Mumsnet to moan about Asda being rammed when you were also there.

I just can’t get animated about it. You must be exhausted OP.

mynameiscalypso · 14/11/2020 12:23

Are ASDA selling all their non-food stuff in stores too or should I wait to go? I realise this is probably not the point of this thread...😂

RaspberryCoulis · 14/11/2020 12:26

Saturday morning and the supermarket is busy.

Who would have thought it? Hmm

Heyahun · 14/11/2020 12:28

Oh fucking hell 😆 I mean to went to Asda on a Saturday obviously it’s busy! Maybe shop at a less busy time

Also isn’t going to a supermarket allowed 🙄

CodenameVillanelle · 14/11/2020 12:28

Meh

Heyahun · 14/11/2020 12:29

Going out to the shops with my husband and getting a hot chocolate and then going for a walk is the only thing to do at the moment so we always usually go together. Can’t just start in your house watching tv for a month

OptimisticSix · 14/11/2020 12:32

Agree with the pp whi saud you were there too... And shortly I shall be at Tesco because we need some food. I am lucky enough to be able to go on my own but some people can't for carious reasons. I think look to yourself and see if theres anything you can do to stay home more before judging other people.

Jaxhog · 14/11/2020 12:34

I am still surprised by the number of groups of people hanging around outside shops at the moment.

There are lots of things to do in the house other than watching TV!!

Heyahun · 14/11/2020 12:38

Yeah I do lots in n my house all day every day - work, do workouts, clean, have heaps of hobbies to be getting on with !

But getting out of the house for a few hours on a Saturday is very much necessary!

Also you do you - stay inside of you like - but what’s the point being upset about seeing a group outside - what can you do about it

WhoopsSomethingWentWrong · 14/11/2020 12:41

Ah, a ‘what lockdown?’ thread. We haven’t had one of those for at least an hour and a half!
Try saying ‘what lockdown?’ to the shops, hairdressers, beauticians, bars, restaurants, cafes, museums, soft plays, tourist attractions etc who have had to close their doors again.

Heyahun · 14/11/2020 12:44

Lolz exactly ! Like what lockdown!?? Everything’s fucking closed it’s right there in your face

Yep
HesterShaw1 · 14/11/2020 12:47

I imagine this was one of the unforeseen results of declaring an ill thought through lockdown in November. People are less willing to "stay home" (aka go for walks or bike rides from the house, laze in the garden) when it's dark, wet and miserable. They are at the end of their tether at being cooped up indoors and wanting to throttle their immediate family!

AgeLikeWine · 14/11/2020 12:51

Do people really choose to go to a supermarket on a Saturday morning then complain that it’s busy? The mind boggles....

Funnily enough, my local Sainsbury’s was almost deserted when I went at 9pm on Wednesday...

Remmy123 · 14/11/2020 12:55

Your allowed to go to ASDA 😂
