Just heard this on the BBC news at 6.Does this mean the military will be injecting people? Will it be mandatory for certain groups? This is rather worrying.

@SheepandCow scary thought!

Forgetmenot157 · 11/11/2020 18:22

@BurningRose

Thats. OK all. You guys get the vaccine and let me know how it goes. Don't say I didn't warn you about side effects
That's cool I'll let you know from the Bahamas while you will most likely be stuck holidaying in the uk :)
Bookworming · 11/11/2020 18:26

@BurningRose I doubt they'll get their fingers burnt off, they're sensible people able to follow instructions, able to be trained, able to understand risk.

Some people are able to understand all that!

Bookworming · 11/11/2020 18:28

I'll be in Thailand enjoying my cancelled trip!

Where will you be @BurningRose? They'll confiscate your passport!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 11/11/2020 19:37

@BlueBlancmange you're right, I got my posters mixed up! Blush Thought BurningRose was the person who posted the sensible bit

raviolidreaming · 11/11/2020 19:54

only registered nurses can give injections. Including vaccines

This is so ridiculous that it's funny. Do you honestly believe this?! That doctors, dentists, and midwifes (for a start, as the obvious ones) are all guilty of malpractice every time they give an injection?!

00100001 · 11/11/2020 20:17

@BurningRose

Hopefully no one will burn their fingers off extracting the vials from the minus 80 degrees solution.
They won't be using their fingers, they'll activate the microchip they implanted in you at birth, and you'll pick it up yourself, burn your fingers, look blankly and smile as they inject a power booster for the microchip,so it can actually now be controlled through 5g. The Chinese will now own you, which why they made covid-19, with funding from Russia.
BeyondsConstantBangingHeadache · 11/11/2020 20:28

Yes, we should definitely worry about whether someone who can potentially handle firearms is capable of using a freezer!

00100001 · 11/11/2020 20:47

Don't you know @BeyondsConstantBangingHeadache , that they're actually going to inject the poison vaccine by using blunt rusty needles? You should be worried!!!!

Plus, as they're soldiers, they're going to wear camo fatigues,so all you will see is floating needle. Shock

BeyondsConstantBangingHeadache · 11/11/2020 20:52

so all you will see is floating needle

You know that mn myth of spitting tea all over the keyboard... 🤣

Goldensnitchy · 11/11/2020 21:01

God this is a stupid thread 😂

LagunaBubbles · 11/11/2020 21:15

Burning rose I notice you are conveniently ignoring the posters telling you you are talking a load of rubbish about measles parties.

00100001 · 11/11/2020 21:24

@BurningRose

Most of us would already be dead from things like measles if it wasn’t for vaccinations. grin

Doubt it! They held measles parties in the olden days. Better sanitation and nutrition has helped irradicate a lot of diseases.

Ah, yes, of course. Eat broccoli and wash your hands, you can't get Measles then!

Why would "they" go to all the effort of creating a Measles vaccine and the NHS fund it and offer it as routine treatment for kids.

Go on, why are "they" spending ££££ on these immunisation programmes?

Going by how I didn't even feel the flu jab going in this time round (probably because they'd been using military-style methods for mass vaccinating CV and CEV people for three weeks by then), maybe they should employ Ninjas, rather than squaddies - that way, you wouldn't even know you'd been vaccinated...
Bikingbear · 11/11/2020 21:43

Burning Rose You are talking shite about measles parties WTAF?

Children died from measles, measles caused other long term problems including hearing loss. People were frightened of measles.

My mum knew a child who died of measles in the 1970s. Like hell did the other mums decide to hold measles parties. Measles can be life threatening it's not just a daft wee rash like chicken pox.

00100001 · 11/11/2020 21:51

@MitziK well, now you're being silly!
Everyone knows ninja's are made up beings, to distract us from the real invisible danger, the Chino-Russian army of trained monkeys that come and whisper communist propaganda in your ear whilst you sleep.

Grin
furloughandfallow · 12/11/2020 00:05

@BurningRose this is worth a read. It's Roald Dahl's account of his daughter's measles. It's hardly a case of measles parties in the old days. It's worth educating yourself more before you spit such nonsense-

I adore this thread. I’m an ex senior officer military loggie and I’m legit rubbing my thighs at the potential of sorting this mess out 😂😂
Although what with the SAS in my bush and Serco threatening to intervene, the chances of me drawing up my master plan look slim. I might have to put the twenty years of mandatory medical training to use and volunteer to grab and stab instead. Or the spit darts. They sound fun.
If we have to do it via SA80 can we do it blindfold please? Pleeeeaaaase?
In other news, my organic veg box delivery is packed with dry ice (which we have a lil’ ol’ Halloween party with every week for funsies) - should I be stockpiling it, you think? I mean, I have enough toilet paper...

eaglejulesk · 12/11/2020 02:59

@BurningRose - you might like to research measles in Samoa in 2019. This shows what happens when people stop vaccinating their children.

Covidity · 12/11/2020 06:41

What worries me, if the government goes with the Pfizer mRNA vaccine, is the maintenance of the cold chain at -80C given my understanding of the way the testing has been run.
Widespread use of staff with non-clinical backgrounds to run and staff test sites has meant that despite basic training there is not the experience to appreciate the need to follow exact protocols, or the understanding what the failure to do so will mean.

The logistics involved with millions of vaccine doses needing to be transported, stored and administered within a -80C cold chain are HUGE. With such an unstable vaccine there is potential for people to receive an ineffective does if protocols aren’t followed and records not kept (or are fudged).
Let’s hope the people involved are motivated and well-trained. Many of those administering Covid tests are currently paid £8.72 per hour. I hope this won’t be the case for those handling and administering the vaccine.

mpsw · 12/11/2020 06:48

Military already deliver cold-chain items. This will be rather colder, but it's a significantly less awkward set of journeys than taking medical fridges and their contents out to military operations. And getting it right, because it's their mates who might need the in-date, correctly stored medicines, blood etc

They will be under orders to keep it at the right temperature and under no illusions that it's a critical national supply and those instructions must be followed to the letter. They're pretty good at that too - look at all the other items they deal with that need special handling to avert disaster

BurningRose · 12/11/2020 07:59

Matt Hancock is showing no excitement at this vaccine. I think he is pissed off it is a German and American collaboration. I think it's nota horse he's been backing. I bet he wishes it is the Oxford backing. I bet looking behind the scenes at the flows of.capital they didnt back it. If the government truly cared about health over profits we would see a different range of indicators.

Wrong again.

The UK government ordered Pfizer vaccines months ago. They have surprisingly ordered more potential vaccines per head than any other country. They have backed a lot of options.
