Worried that the military and NHS are on standby to deliver vaccines

Just heard this on the BBC news at 6.Does this mean the military will be injecting people? Will it be mandatory for certain groups? This is rather worrying.

Get real @Kazzyhoward. No, it won't be like that. This won't be Daktari.

Just trot along to the health centre car park gazebo, and bare your upper arm. Job done.

This thread, wine and Bake Off - what more could anyone want on a Tuesday night. Thank you OP you have cheered me up no end.

After the birth of DD2 I was sent home with a box of syringes and a medication called Fragmin to prevent blood clots (standard protocol at my hospital for women who give birth over the age of 40). The HV gave my DP a 30 second tutorial on what to do and that was that! He injected me every day for 10 days, and he is categorically not a HCP in any way. It was fine.

I can't wait to have the vaccine, but since I'm under 50 and not in a high risk group, I'm unlikely to get it any time soon.

No vaccine in the U.K. has ever been mandatory, the army are helping to deliver the vaccine due to the sheer size of the infrastructure needed.

You may want to seek help for your anxiety OP

Gosh this is so patronising and rude

and true

XingMing · 10/11/2020 20:04

@SadSack, it may be rude and patronising, but it's totally accurate. The poster needs patronising, because they are ... stupid, or is that the rudest word of all?

Mummylin · 10/11/2020 20:04

@sadeyedladyofthelowlands63

I broke my ankle and my husband had to inject my stomach daily to avoid clots. He wasn’t even shown how to do it.

I was "trained" by a nurse to give my partner similar injections. It took approximately 30 seconds. It really isn't rocket science OP.

I had to inject dh for four weeks when he had a hip replacement, I loved every second 😂 no training here.
Giraffey1 · 10/11/2020 20:04

By the way, OP you do know that just because you have had COVID it doesn’t mean you are immune!

Heyahun · 10/11/2020 20:07

Bit over dramatic tbh

AldiAisleofCrap · 10/11/2020 20:07

I had a positive covid test a few months ago so I won't need a vaccine. I now have natural immunity.
Wow! No you don’t.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 10/11/2020 20:08

Right, here's a round-up of OP's concerns in order of appearance:

Soldiers firing needles at people
Untrained soldiers firing needles at people
Creeping authoritarianism
The government
Untrained soldiers firing needles at people once a year
Sinister side effects
We're all going to mutate

Brighterthansunflowers · 10/11/2020 20:09

Maybe OP will mutate into a rational adult

notangelinajolie · 10/11/2020 20:10

OP what are your thoughts on tap water. Do you buy the bottled stuff to be safe?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 10/11/2020 20:12

No she's immune.
Splodgetastic · 10/11/2020 20:12

Jesus wept. It is unlikely to be compulsory but I agree that life choices could and should be restricted in due course for those that don’t have it. That is better than the interference with other human rights and I say this as someone who suffered minor vaccine damage through an allergy many years ago. Vaccine damage is extremely rare and I would have thought nowadays vanishingly unlikely.

Splodgetastic · 10/11/2020 20:12

BTW the reaction wasn’t to the vaccine itself but the medium in which it was delivered/

BurningRose · 10/11/2020 20:14

I guess it is easier for some people on here to throw insults that debate the science and politics of a covid vaxcine. That's OK. Back to my semidetached bunker 😁

You’ve missed the SAS in bushes. I was quite looking forward to that one.
BurningRose · 10/11/2020 20:17

Hmm I never mentioned the army firing needles. You are making shit up.

OP posts:
Gancanny · 10/11/2020 20:17

You also forgot mutated DNA. If we get to choose our mutant powers in advance then I'd like whichever vaccine will give me the ability to teleport.

Pyewhacket · 10/11/2020 20:17

@BurningRose

I don't have free floating anxiety so I don't need any help. I have anxiety about trusting our government though! As do many of the population.
What, do you think Boris is going to use the military to enforce vacination at the point of an assault rifle ?. You're either shit stiring or barking mad, or both.

Wow covid must be the first ever coronavirus that doesn't produce an immune response.

But you’re not debating. You’re posting twaddle. If you want a debate, explain how mRNA fragments can alter DNA, because that article sure as hell didn’t even remotely support your assertion.
Ginnymweasley · 10/11/2020 20:19

I have horrible side effects to quite a few antibiotics.... but the alternative is much worse when I have had a serious infection.... nothing is without risk at the end of the day. But the risks of vaccines are actually really really small.
