If the vaccine was immediately available for everyone - would you have it?

Not after an argument I’m just genuinely wondering! I have spoken to two friends and one would have it and one wouldn’t. If the vaccine (still with 90% effectivity) was available for everyone in the UK, would you have it straight away?

Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable receiving the vaccine yet. Typically vaccines are meant to go through years of testing, in order to check for long term side effects and yet it's only been a few months... I have a good friend who works in pharma and has advised that it's way too soon for them to be approving a vaccine...but that's my personal stance!

Fantasisa · 09/11/2020 16:38

Yes if it meant life returned to normal. No if it meant social distancing, masks etc would carry on as I have no fear of the virus so would take my chances with it.

Ridcully82 · 09/11/2020 16:39

Yes(would have replied sooner, but was too busy rolling my sleeve up in readiness!)

Parkandride · 09/11/2020 16:40

Yes, but I'm pregnant so probably wouldn't be able to, DH can have my imaginary slot

LetsAllSpeakScience · 09/11/2020 16:40

Yes, but not whilst I'm still pregnant. This baby should be out long before it gets to our place in the queue anyway, then I'd definitely take it. I have no concerns with the safety

MillieVanilla · 09/11/2020 16:41

Hell yes
In fact if it's offered privately first I'm considering selling something of the value to get my DS done first as I'm petrified for him due to his underlying health issues.

BuffaloCauliflower · 09/11/2020 16:41

I’m currently pregnant and planning to breastfeed, so no for as long as I’m breastfeeding - just because we don’t have the data on side effects that could affect my baby - but if not for that then yes I would.

tootyfruitypickle · 09/11/2020 16:41

Yes. Arm out ready. Covid has more risk than any vaccine.

Drinking alcohol on even a semi regular basis has way more risk than any vaccine, and i still do that.

I’m 100pc in!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 09/11/2020 16:44

Yep. Sleeve rolled up.

FuzzyPuffling · 09/11/2020 16:44

Yes.
I'm CV, DH is CEV and we have hardly been out since March.

Thousandmiles · 09/11/2020 16:46

Yep! Bring it on! Smile

Fizzydrinks123 · 09/11/2020 16:47

Yes.

Caroncanta · 09/11/2020 16:47

No

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 09/11/2020 16:47

Yes in a god damn heartbeat

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 09/11/2020 16:47

Yes, even with a needle phobia (worse with blood tests than injections thankfully)

nocoolnamesleft · 09/11/2020 16:47

Yes. It's been tested on enough people to see it's safer than getting Covid19. Not to show it's completely safe, but safer than the disease.

Bushola · 09/11/2020 16:48

Nope.

Let the guinea pigs work out if there’s any side effects first.

Dinosaur19 · 09/11/2020 16:48

I really thought there would be more ‘no’ answers than there are!

OP posts:
DobbyTheHouseElk · 09/11/2020 16:48

YES!!!!!

PaintMePurple · 09/11/2020 16:50

Definitely not

HexagonsHecateAndHecuba · 09/11/2020 16:52

No ....I worry it is being rushed through and that any long term implications on health are being swept under the carpet.

That and every vaccination I've ever had I've reacted badly too or presented with symptoms/developed full blown disease. Strangely my mother declined to have me vaccinated against polio and smallpox (I'm old!)

Dressingdown1 · 09/11/2020 16:53

Yes, absolutely!

Keha · 09/11/2020 16:53

Yes. What other option is there? Sit at home for years leave the economy to tank with all the consequences of that. Or let thousands die from coronavirus? Even if long term side effects are not fully known, I trust the regulator to be sensible and I'm not going to let other people have it (and therefore protect me) but refuse to have it myself.

ekidmxcl · 09/11/2020 16:54

Yes, menopausal and fat

I wouldn't have it for my teens though

romeolovedjulliet · 09/11/2020 16:55

i'm cv but no i wouldn't want it even if i could have it tomorrow, i'll wait and see how it goes with other people first.
