Do we think this will be a vaccine update, a change to rules or just waffle?

oh i see Thanks for the link.

the80sweregreat · 09/11/2020 17:57

Brigadier Joe Fosse was the Army man.

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 09/11/2020 17:57

I notice he didn't answer the question about teachers & university staff getting the vaccine.

They are being exposed to students with positive covid cases & all crammed in a classroom together with no social distancing.

How can this be right?

SheepandCow · 09/11/2020 17:57

No problem Smile

SmigglesNoMore · 09/11/2020 17:57

@MercyBooth

Brigadier Joe Fossey
Who's he? Smile
DobbleQueen · 09/11/2020 17:58

No thank you @Unsure33 Hmm I took away that there is a vaccine that has pulled into the station with the doors shut; the effectiveness relies on two doses between 21 and 28 days apart so there is no realistic hope of having a normal Xmas alas even if we're heading towards being carbon neutral with our new American friend Mr Biden.

Alas we will not be able to hug our loved ones alas but still OK for me to go to work in education every day where social distancing teenagers is alas impossible. Alas alas.

the80sweregreat · 09/11/2020 17:59

It all started quite well. Then quickly went downhill.

They obviously should start with the very elderly, healthcare workers, and the most extremely vulnerable.

It's just concerning, for when they start working down, that they're incorrectly saying 50, when the risk actually increases at 45.

It's concerning that they might be planning to throw the 45-50 age group to the wolves.

pussycatinboots · 09/11/2020 18:01

Sheep what's the average age of the cabinet? what's the average age of a conservative voter?

SmigglesNoMore · 09/11/2020 18:01

@PatriciaPerch

He is head of the testin operation in Liverpool
Thank you
pussycatinboots · 09/11/2020 18:02

Oh, and I'm 48 and fully expect not to get vaccinated until I'm over 50.

the80sweregreat · 09/11/2020 18:03

I'm 55 , so I'm in the ' we might give you the scraps' tier. If I'm lucky.
It is good news but will people think ' no need to bother now '? I hope not but the caution bit might be missed here.

SheepandCow · 09/11/2020 18:06

@pussycatinboots

Sheep what's the average age of the cabinet? what's the average age of a conservative voter?
I get what you're saying... but it's a pretty young cabinet I think. Rishi is only 40, for example.

Lots of middle-aged voters around. Also lots of the stereotypical pensioner conservative voters have adult children aged around 45-50.

I bet the MPs (of all ages) get the vaccine before most of the public.

I feel thoroughly chastened and I have stuck to the rules

tootyfruitypickle · 09/11/2020 18:08

I’m 47; I agree at some point we’re going to be the most risky group. Role on turning 50!

Personally I feel that Johnson has let the whole school down. Chiz.
the80sweregreat · 09/11/2020 18:09

It is a bit of good news, but many won't bother with it I suppose. Not sure how they can persuade some people to have it done. People are very skeptical about it.

JamieLeeCurtains · 09/11/2020 18:10

I'm ancient and I'd rather my DS or DD had the vakSEEN first.

Unsure33 · 09/11/2020 18:10

@OverTheRainbowLiesOz

He did say there would be an announcement about guidelines for students coming home .

And there are an initial 40 million doses . It will be up to the scientists to decide how they are distributed . If a teacher is in the vunerable group or of a certain age they will get the vaccine . The nhs will be in the first wave I would imagine . If members of the family then they will be immunised and then it won’t matter if the students bring it home .

The vaccine is not here yet why do people have to jump to conclusions.

Unsure33 · 09/11/2020 18:13

@SheepandCow

It won’t just be in age .

The nhs already have a list of the clinically vunerable .

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 09/11/2020 18:14

Like the NHS workers, teachers are in small rooms with people who have tested positive. It isn't just an age thing, teachers are in direct contact with cases and will be spreading it around.
