How much are you drinking?

I have a couple of glasses of wine on a Friday Saturday and Sunday night sometimes I can finish a bottle one night 😬 🤪 It's something to enjoy and look forward to of an evening whilst watching the tv in these current times 🤣
How much alcohol is everyone drinking at the moment? Honestly 😆

More than most people on here. Yeah, I have worried about it sometimes. It's crept up generally over the past few years. I will cut back. I struggle to have alcohol free nights as I feel excited to pour a glass as we go towards evening.

annabel85 · 08/11/2020 11:38

I'm a social drinker so I haven't really drank at all since early March. I've never really drank at home unless it's a special occasion. I went to the pub a couple of times in August but then the second wave kicked off at the start of September and haven't been out since.

I'll enjoy some wine on Christmas Day.

iloveeverykindofcat · 08/11/2020 14:09

None, I quit a while ago because I was having a miserable year (like everyone, but some personal stuff thrown in) and it was getting too much and not helping. I feel a lot better and more stable now, though I'm not above missing it sometimes. When I feel tempted I look in the mirror at my skin which looks better than it has in years!

Splodgetastic · 08/11/2020 14:19

I had been trying to not drink much as I put on some pounds due to alcohol mainly in the last lockdown and I was really overdoing it. I had been doing quite well until Friday when something really trivial upset me. I started with a double, then a couple of mini bottles of wine (one 187ml and one 200ml), then continued on to the Tia Maria (about a third of a bottle) while chatting on the phone to DF and DM (I think DF was also a bit pissed as he kept burping - we sound like a delightful family!). The hangover yesterday was stupendous.

Splodgetastic · 08/11/2020 14:28

@Whirlwind14 Your DH has a bedtime? 🤣

Rabbitholebonkers · 08/11/2020 14:49

Zilch. I’ve not touched a drop all year, not interested in alcohol at all.

Sugar on the other hand..... Cake

IcyApril · 08/11/2020 14:53

Last lockdown I was pregnant so nothing. I appear to be making up for it this fine round. 😫

snowstorm2012 · 08/11/2020 14:57

@sotallsotall

Bloody hell, loads compared to all of the replies so far.
Same. Trying to cut back though. I have tomorrow off work and just us two today so having a glass of wine now ☺️
MacbookHo · 08/11/2020 14:57

I difnt drink through the first lockdown as I felt it’d be a slippery slope. Then the summer I only drank on the odd Saturday night when DH and I went out.

Then I did SoberOctober and felt amazing. THEN I went out for a session the night before lockdown and got absolutely trollied (it was awesome) and gained 5lbs overnight. Since then I haven’t touched it. It’s only fun when I’m out. At home it just seems to make me grumpy and sleepy.

Coffeeandaride · 08/11/2020 15:03

About 3 bottles beer and half a bottle wine a week, about the same as last lockdown and prior.

Not much of my socialising involved alcohol though, so I think that’s why no major change.

LouJ85 · 08/11/2020 17:07

Sadly just Vimto as I'm 17 weeks pregnant! Confused

bluebeck · 08/11/2020 19:40

Another one who drank and ate her way solidly through the first ten weeks of Spring lockdown. I had a dry July and August, drank through September, and am now dry again.

I will drink in December. My issue is I am not great with moderation on anything. If I am drinking it will be a couple of glasses of wine and a couple of G&Ts every night. Blush Yet I don't miss it when I don't drink really....

Cocopogo · 08/11/2020 19:42

one or two glasses every couple of months

Iamblossom · 08/11/2020 19:50

I'm drinking loads, far too much.

Managed a couple of weeks of not drinking Monday to Wednesday, but now back to my old habit of at least 2 glasses of wine a night, more at weekends.

It's a problem and my demon.

TheTempest · 09/11/2020 06:00

DH doesn’t really drink at home, so I have the odd glass of wine maybe 1 or 2 a week at the weekend. I had a few with my best friend before lockdown. We are classic binge drinkers though, so in normal times would go out dancing and get pretty pissed. Which according to the doctors is worse for you!

Caeruleanblue · 09/11/2020 06:20

I stopped drinking at the start of lockdown, as I was drinking every night. Have lapsed recently but need to stop it again. I can never stop at one!! I reach for a glass of wine when I'm feeling grumpy - which is a lot of the time these days...... but must stop, I think it makes me grumpier and affects my sleep, and weight, can't resist nibbles after a wine or two!

SparklingLime · 09/11/2020 06:33

I found this on stopping drinking, at least temporarily in lockdown, helpful. Lots of ideas for grownup AF drinks too:

Might be useful, @Anxiousannie32, @Caeruleanblue and others who are wanting a break. I’ve stopped for lockdown.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 11/11/2020 16:29

Like lots of people I drank far too much during the last lockdown, and I felt like my weekend drinking has got too much this year. So I decided to do 30 days dry which happened to coincide with this lockdown (if you can call it that). Good timing and I'm about half way through. I haven't lost any weight as I'm eating more, but my skin looks better.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 11/11/2020 16:33

😂😂😂 I've already posted on this thread. I thought it was a different one. I do like reading them though as it makes me realise I am not alone and I'm also inspired by the light drinkers!!

Justmuddlingalong · 11/11/2020 16:40

I only really drink on high days and holidays, which have both been in short supply this year. I had a couple when out for a meal in mid October. So, although I don't drink much, I've had even less than normal.

burntpinky · 11/11/2020 16:46

Didn’t drink at all last lockdown as was pregnant. Now had baby (and not breastfeeding) so it’s been rather a lot - but more because I hadn’t had any for 9 months - know I’ll calm it down again soon

WhiteChocTwix · 11/11/2020 21:05

Been trying to be good, discovered a reasonable alcohol free sav blanc in Tesco. DH on a mission not to drink Mon-wed. It's all gone to shit this week for me between DF's carehome having a CV outbreak and work pressure. Roll on Xmas when the ££ will be earnt and I can sleep.

chipsandgin · 11/11/2020 21:10

More than usual & I’ll worry about it when the apocalypse blows over..

How much are you drinking?
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/11/2020 21:11

I had two big gins when I saw Biden won. Other than that, nothing.

randomer · 11/11/2020 21:18

I was drinking a lot and have slowly reduced to about 2/3 bottles a week. This is still far too much.....I will get it down.

I have a friend who drinks a lot, I mean a lot. Since alcohol is a depressant, why isn't she depressed? Or is she just acting.
A rough estimate would be a bottle of wine and 2 large gins plus considerably more at the weekend.
