How much are you drinking?

I have a couple of glasses of wine on a Friday Saturday and Sunday night sometimes I can finish a bottle one night 😬 🤪 It's something to enjoy and look forward to of an evening whilst watching the tv in these current times 🤣
How much alcohol is everyone drinking at the moment? Honestly 😆

@Woui

Sometimes nothing, sometimes too much. Had a bottle last Friday.. and on almost finished a bottle tonight.
This is me 🤣 Did you know a bottle of wine is just 3 glasses? DH can have a few bottles of beer and then I finish a bottle of wine and he's like oh wow you e had the bottle? Yes it just seems worse because you've had 3/4 bottles of beer I've had 3 glasses of wine which is a bottle 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

Weirdly not at all. I was on low carb boot camp until I got shingles and it all went to pot. But since then I haven’t fancied it in the slightest. Very odd for me!

Lifestooshort1542 · 06/11/2020 23:21

@Vodkatonic8

I get through about 3 bottles of wine a week.
Well thank god for you 🤣👍🏻🍷

GALLONS.

NC4Now · 06/11/2020 23:54

I generally find MN is very moderate. I am not.

I’ve had several AF months this year, but fair to say this isn’t one of them...

SaltyAF · 06/11/2020 23:57

@Grobagsforever

Goodness, only a small sherry every alternate Easter.

Also I change my towels thrice daily.

Grin me too [hic] Wine
dolphinpose · 07/11/2020 08:06

@Turnedouttoes - were the low carb and shingles related?

IrenetheQuaint · 07/11/2020 08:11

Nothing, I live alone and don't drink by myself as it makes me depressed. Wasn't intending to do Sober November but here we are!

dolphinpose · 07/11/2020 08:11

@3littlewords - there are six small glasses of wine in a bottle, so yes, they are small but I've trained myself to pour them that size because otherwise I slurp it back. The size of wine glasses in UK is massive now so 125ml looks like you've almost finished the glass, but if you look for the old style smaller glasses in charity shops, psychologically, you feel like you are getting a whole glass.

I discovered during Dry Jan and the occasional very rare Sober October that although I don't lose weight from giving up booze, my energy levels are better, my (not very good) balance is way better and brain much clearer if I stick to no more than one 125ml glass on a work night.

Winterfairy23 · 07/11/2020 08:20

Pre-covid I would drink a bottle of wine over a Friday and Saturday or 2-3 spirits instead.

During first lockdown I was drinking almost every day which wasn't normal for me. The weather and gyms being closed played a big part.

I've been more mindful about drinking since July. I haven't had anything for 2 weeks and I'm thinking of staying sober until 1st of December at least.

Where I live the gym is still open so it's a good incentive. I have to add, I haven't gone more than a week without alcohol for many, many years! 😬 I suppose I hadn't really thought about it before because it was just my weekend routine and 1 weekly bottle of wine doesn't seem excessive.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/11/2020 08:20

It varies week to week. I only drink on Friday and Saturday. Last night I had 3 cocktails. Tonight I'll probably have a bottle of prosecco.

Drybird2020 · 07/11/2020 08:27

I quit drinking at the end of last year (needed to) so was used to it before lockdown started, and I was so glad. If I'd still been drinking then I'd have been in trouble. There have been so many threads on here and articles in the media, and anecdotes from friends about people drinking more and worrying about it.

If you're a take it or leave it drinker, you're probably OK. If you're at all worried that you are drinking too much, then you probably are, even if too much for you is a couple of glasses on a Friday, you need to be comfortable with how much you are consuming.

FizzyPink · 07/11/2020 08:32

@dolphinpose no not at all! Just that having shingles made me feel so awful I couldn’t eat bar a couple of nibbles of bread in order to take all the pain killers and anti vitals I was prescribed so it threw me off track completely

justanotherneighinparadise · 07/11/2020 08:34

I don’t drink but lots of people I talk to have mentioned their drinking had got a little out of control and they’d had to rein it back. So you’re certainly not slime.

justanotherneighinparadise · 07/11/2020 08:34

*alone 🤣

Teaandchocolatedigestives · 07/11/2020 08:41

Probably half a bottle every couple of weeks. It no longer agrees with me. I had two glasses last night and I feel awful this morning 😭 it's not worth it anymore so looking to cut it out completely.

Anxiousannie32 · 07/11/2020 08:42

Way too much. I try to have at least 3-4 alcohol free nights a week but this week I have drank every night. Usually gin and tonic or wine. I have put on so much weight and I really need to stop.

When there's nothing else to do it just seems like something to look forward to after work. I enjoy that tipsy feeling and never really have a hangover but I know I'm not doing myself any favours.

CottonSock · 07/11/2020 08:44

I have to really work at it. I try and have 4 dry days a week. Otherwise I would probably drink a bottle of wine a night and that makes me fat, depressed, unhealthy and I don't sleep.

Dontjudgeme101 · 07/11/2020 08:51

None. My new year resolution was to give up alcohol, hadn’t touched
any! Not long until l can or will!

CovidPostingName · 07/11/2020 08:53

I have a measured (50ml) double g&t on a thurs, fri, sat & sun. Never more than one per night and always measured, never free poured.

FippertyGibbett · 07/11/2020 08:56

3 glasses ( which is actually three quarters of a bottle 🥴) three times a week, and I feel really tired the next day.

Specialgodson · 07/11/2020 09:02

I’m about 3 bottles a week too! Definitely wish I’d cut back actually as it’s so expensive and I might need to think of a healthier way to feel grownup ... like playing bridge or something !

Whirlwind14 · 07/11/2020 09:07

Less than the last lockdown which got a bit silly! It was sunny- wine o’clock! Daily briefing- wine o’clock! Zoom quiz- wine o’clock! The toddler was about to finish me off- wine o’clock! DH had started their bedtime- wine o’clock!

We’ve it down to a couple of bottles at the weekend now and perhaps the odd small glass a night or two in the week but in I’m not really fancying it.

Determined to make this lockdown a little more positive than I was feeling last time.

Enoughnowstop · 07/11/2020 09:10

None. I rarely drink. Maybe at Xmas and on special, occasions.

Sailor2009 · 07/11/2020 09:16

Last lockdown a couple of bottles of red a week and probably more amaretto than was sensible.
This lockdown I'm 5 months pregnant and I hate you all Wink
