17 cases in total could actually be worse than 17 casess per 100k. Depends on size of area.
Ie out Town had 9 cases last week but that equates to 45 per 100k roughly.
Tier 1 area.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 07/11/2020 11:53

I actually think now that lockdown will definitely end in December as planned.

Quartz2208 · 07/11/2020 11:58

@Hailtomyteeth

By Dec 2 they'll be saying it isn't effective enough. They'll continue the lockdown and close the schools from 4 December to early January. There will be a phased return to school.

Tiers will continue thereafter, with the possibility of further national lockdowns and school closures in February. With the aim of a gradual return to some-kind-of-normal (if anyone remembers what that is) by the end of April, if at all possible.

Given there are already rumblings in the media about this one and it’s length no way is that getting through Parliament

The data they showed last week is already being questioned they won’t dare not open things in the run up to Christmas

SomewhereEast · 07/11/2020 13:30

I actually think it will end on 2 December, partly because shutting down into December would be economically devastating, partly because many Tory MPs would lose their shit at an extension. Also infection rates were already stabilising.

I could see another mini-lockdown in the late winter though.

Viv0321 · 07/11/2020 13:39

No way will they extend it. Wales haven’t either, they are allowed to travel etc, form Monday

Firework parties have been happening on my estate. Thrown by people who were clapping for the NHS every week................when they thought it would all be over by Christmas.

Torvean32 · 07/11/2020 14:51

I think it will end on Dec 2. You dont normally see change til the start of week 3. The areas with low cases should not be kept in lockdown for any longer. There's no point in a tier system otherwise.

Hailtomyteeth · 07/11/2020 15:37

Oops. Forgot Christmas, altogether. Perhaps everyone should.

Beebityboo · 07/11/2020 16:10

I really hope they do close the schools early. My nerves are completely shot!

Anawi · 07/11/2020 16:19

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal

Yes, and I think schools will close in December.
This!

Nerves about what? Contracting corona?
Jroseforever · 07/11/2020 16:25

Yes, and I think schools will close in December.

Me too. As they do every year. Around mid December. For the Christmas break.

TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest · 07/11/2020 16:26

I'm going to go against everyone else and say no, I don't think they will extend it. Everyone was saying they would close school before half term and they didn't.

Schools break up around 16th December for Christmas anyway
Jroseforever · 07/11/2020 16:27

Yes that’s my point.

They won’t shut school early. Just go with usual end of term date

Have you actually read the thread?

Loads of people saying no they won’t

OverThinkingUnderDoing · 07/11/2020 16:30

I think it will end on 2 December. I genuinely can’t physically bring myself to think of it not. I’m already feeling physically sick at the thought of the next 3 weeks. If they extend the restrictions I will simply ignore them entirely. I’m fucking done.

MeadowHay · 07/11/2020 17:31

I think everyone knew we'd be facing a tough winter of restrictions, surely?

My main prediction is that whilst I think hospitality etc will continue to be closed come 2nd Dec I believe retail will be open again then. I can't see there's much additional risk involved with that anyway and the economic ramifications are ginormous. I really do think the shops will all be open for last minute Xmas shopping. I would be v surprised if hospitality also reopened though.

Would love to see driving tests and lessons restarted asap as I have my test booked for January Sad but not sure where they will be on priority. I'm not heard any evidence of spread via driving lessons/tests but maybe it's too niche for evidence gathering? I can fully see why being stuck in a car with someone could spread illness quickly though but more from an instructor being contagious and passing it to all his pupils/examiner passing it to lots of testees than the other way around.
