So will anyone comply now?

These pages all seem to have been about how the rules make no sense, there's no point while schools are open and people saying they'll assess their own risk but they're not going to risk their MH etc etc

Will this make a difference? It Doesn't matter what the rules are if no one follows them.

@DominaShantotto

We’ve explicitly been told we can sit on park benches and have picnics so that takes away that option! I’m excited to see what they come up with too (well there’s fuck all else to be excited about!)

I give it till Saturday before there's some "decree" about the length of time you're allowed to sit on a park bench for.

The "milk is not an essential shopping item" will start by about Thursday lunchtime by previous standards.

We'll be wanting to shut down Amazon by Sunday.

Tbf I'm an Amazon boycotter, so I might be tempted to invent some laws and join in with the merriment when it gets to that stage.
homemadecommunistrussia · 31/10/2020 21:49

No, fuck that shit. I would if I thought it might work, but I really am not. It's just cruelty in a vain hope of a normal Christmas- bollocks. Sad

MoonJelly · 31/10/2020 21:50

I will certainly comply. We really need this to work.

wanderings · 31/10/2020 21:51

There's no sense of decency.
Indeed. We should all take our example from the haloed Saint Boris, the absolute paragon of decency. So amazingly decent of him to make tens of millions of people wait three hours to find out if they're going to earn anything for a month.

Next slide, please.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 31/10/2020 21:51

I don’t know anyone who hasn’t complied. Including Millennialls and teens. All 100% complying.

crankysaurus · 31/10/2020 21:54

Yes, we will. For us it's not much difference to under T3. I actually thought it could have been worse (for us).

Dongdingdong · 31/10/2020 21:54

I think I will start getting on the bus with my mask around my chin, like so many other people in London do. Masks are primarily to protect other people apparently, so if selfish passengers can’t be bothered to protect me, why should I return the favour?

Confused why are millennials any less likely to comply than anyone else? I’m a millennial... I’m 36! Complied fully throughout, as my priority is keeping my kids at school. Didn’t realise I was a demographic who was likely to ‘flout’ the rules.
herewego87 · 31/10/2020 21:56

Comply or die.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 31/10/2020 21:56

I can't work, I will have 0 income, I can't go to a shop (as I can't wear a mask) I don't go anywhere apart from work which I now can't do so won't be able to pay any bills, I can't get a cancer screening (can't wear a mask) I can't access my Dr or dentist, 1 child is about to lose their job as the business can't survive another lockdown, another has been passed over by mh teams with no help, the other is home alone pregnant with a toddler as dh is a key worker, I have lost 6 people this year due to non covid so I have to 'comply' to the destruction of my life but I will not stop seeing my family and friends (tier 1 0 cases)!

fullofhope100 · 31/10/2020 21:56
@Nanny0gg of course im trying to get to know my housemates, but we moved in together less than a month ago, all have differing work schedules and dont have much in common. A polite conversation with a relative stranger is nice, but is not a substitute for meaningful social contact.
I will comply (as I have all along). I only hope everyone else will, because God help us if this doesn't work.

ChristmasinJune · 31/10/2020 21:59

Yes I'll comply and everybody I'm close to sticks to the rule too. I'm hopeful that it will work because some of the tier 3 areas have already seen their numbers start to level off or drop.

News of a vaccine is looking really positive, if we can just keep going for a bit longer, things will start to look more positive.

VerticalHorizon · 31/10/2020 21:59

It won't work.
It's not nearly stringent enough - The workplace, Education and Health establishments are massive contributors to the spread of the virus, and they're carrying on as usual.

Closing the local hairdresser and cafe is pissing in the wind.

Venicelover · 31/10/2020 22:01

We will comply with almost everything as we have done all along, but two of our sons live alone and we will not choose one of them over the other one to be in our bubble. Therefore, they will both visit home. Our other children have partners, so we will not see them for the duration of the lockdown.

This won't work though as schools are a hot spot for transmission.

this!

yep, you are right....come dec 2nd and the stats haven't shifted, then what? a more severe lockdown to coincide with christmas?

Bluntness100 · 31/10/2020 22:02

It will work. They just need to shut it down enough. They aren’t trying to eradicate it

Ravenesque · 31/10/2020 22:03

I'll comply within limits. A friend who also lives alone really wants to visit and as we've both been incredibly careful since March, that will almost certainly happen.

The one thing I might need to do which is sort of outside the rules is travel to America because a friend really needs me. I've just checked. Donald Trump says I can't. The cunt.

Actually, given my last post. I think that if the UK government had properly locked down borders way back in March we'd be in a far better situation now. I was flabbergasted at the time that we hadn't.

This whole thing is so fucking depressing but we just have to deal with it, I guess.

wanderings · 31/10/2020 22:08

I'll comply until 2nd December. If Saint Boris then pleads, in his usual style, since he can't even appear on time for a press conference where millions of people were waiting to see if they would earn anything a month:
"just another week..."
"just another week..."
"just another week month..."
"just another month year..."
he can fucking do one.

I haven't forgotten "we can turn this virus around in twelve weeks".

Aridane · 31/10/2020 22:08

@Autumnblooms

I imagine you would be fined if you don’t comply?
As it’s not as strict as last time, it would be easy enough to do a Cummings lie - eg I’m in a support bubble (when hooking up with some random), sitting outside with fandoms and pretending;g to be a household
Tootletum · 31/10/2020 22:10

I've never failed to comply. And it's not like I can break into the gym, is it! Grin

Funkypolar · 31/10/2020 22:10

How long will people comply for? 12 months? 5 years?

SleepingStandingUp · 31/10/2020 22:11

Police fined a family 10k for having a christening party the other day. They fined a group of students i think similar.

So feel free to not comply but better hope no one is watching.

Pubs, restaurants etc will be closed so even if you don't agree, tough.

Petulant "well i'm going to do all the stuff i want and can't because i think lockdown sucks" is just so counter-intuitive.
