With a link to the previous header for all the great links to data -

And with a polite plea to keep the focus on data and analysis if you please.

thanks all

the report is in the telegraph so I cant read what it says.

Pertella · 03/11/2020 22:20

How strange. Posts are appearing, then disappearing and then reappearing in duplicate Confused

Perihelion · 03/11/2020 22:46

Last couple of days in Scotland has given a significant drop in tests processed. About a 40% dropHmm
Glasgow Airport testing centre was shut on Saturday afternoon due to the weather. Can't find out if Edinburgh was shut too. But seeing as they cancelled the drive through flu vaccination sites I'm thinking the Covid testing site may have shut too.

Augustbreeze · 03/11/2020 23:01

I think this is an aspect of the weather turning we haven't particularly thought of:

Just as folk aren't going to be too keen on queueing in rain/ice to get their shopping, they aren't going to want to queue to get a walk in test. Guess which they'll decide isn't essential....

MRex · 03/11/2020 23:10

I have a question. Seeing as the swab has inaccuracies, but sewage can detect covid early... why isn't there a fecal test option? For under 3s and some other groups it would be easier. I mean, not taking it in the drive-through site obviously, that strays into fetish territory, but home / GP tests.

MRex · 03/11/2020 23:14

@Augustbreeze - as long as they stay in, it's better than some alternatives.
Positive option is that it rained so much last week that the combo of high humidity and dislike of the rain jointly dampened the spread of covid.

Augustbreeze · 03/11/2020 23:24

True @MRex!
Re faecal test there seems to be a few studies, don't know why not used wisely, eg

Augustbreeze · 03/11/2020 23:25

*widely, although wisely works too!

I realised that last night, wonder what there doing.
Always seems to be doing something when there due to come out as well.
Wales and Scotland don't seem to have a problem with getting there data out in time.

SecretSpAD · 04/11/2020 10:20

I find your use of the word I've emboldened deeply troubling. As we are a data and analysis thread I think perhaps almost every other would be a more accurate phrase? grin

You are correct. I was trying to avoid being flamed Grin

Castiel07 · 04/11/2020 14:00

50 deaths in Scotland, that is quite high isn't it?

Castiel07 · 04/11/2020 14:01

And 44 deaths in Wales.

Perihelion · 04/11/2020 14:14

Scotland tests processed today back up to 20,420, from approx 11,000 the last 2 days.
This had resulted in 1433 positive results. (999 yesterday )So there was definitely a lack of testing/processing the last couple of days. We'll see if this is repeated for the UK today.
50 deaths registered, which is the highest since May 20th.

Perihelion · 04/11/2020 14:24

Yes 50 is quite high for Scotland. Caveat that Wednesday seems to be the worst day for death reporting. The highest daily death count was 84 on Wednesday April 15th.

Castiel07 · 04/11/2020 14:40

302 deaths for England.

cathyandclare · 04/11/2020 16:04

25177
492 deaths

conkersarebonkers · 04/11/2020 16:05

25,177 UK cases today and 492 deaths. Has there been a bit of a backlog again?

cathyandclare · 04/11/2020 16:07

Big death number but graph by date not looking as scary;

My local trust now has just shy of the April peak number of patients in ward beds in one hospital and half the April peak in the other. Triple the amount they had two weeks ago. Total 200 patients. Less patients in their 2 ICU's 14 overall, less than half the number of the April peak in one of the units who had 22 patients in ICU at the peak, 8 now.

Sunshinegirl82 · 04/11/2020 16:35

The trend seems to be (by specimen date) that Monday is high with Tue- Fri then slightly lower/flat with big dips on Sat and Sun.

Fairly large number of positives for this Monday but if the next few days only add relatively small numbers to that date it might not be too much of a rise overall if followed by the usual flattening/dips. Next few days should show for definite.

I hope there won't be many added to Monday and it doesn't grow too much but this Monday has around 21k after Weds numbers added and last Monday had fewer than 17k at the same stage, so quite a difference. Hopefully because we're more up to date now.

Denmark will cull its entire herd of up to 17 million mink after a mutation of the coronavirus found in the animals spread to humans, posing risk to any possible future vaccine, the prime minister said on Wednesday.
