Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

@SheilaTakeABow The children’s self isolation continues from when your symptoms started. It only extends if they get sick.

Yes, I’ve found a hot shower or bath nice too. DH has a neti pot he uses and he doesn’t have the same sinus-y problems as me.

Today despite a lie in and coffee I just feel a bit congested and run down. Back to work tomorrow. I’ve got slightly more of my sense of smell back too.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/11/2020 09:57

I feel a bit brighter today, this is day 5 after symptoms started.

I'm not sure re isolation if others in the household get it. I think anyone who's not had it would start their 14 days again , but not sure about people who have had a positive?

SheilaTakeABow · 08/11/2020 10:04

Thanks @ScottishDream, that's what I thought, and what the attached graphic suggests. That's a relief.

Is there no way you can take any more time off if you're not feeling up to it? The utter bleeeuurrggghhh of it is really draining; although I don't feel desperately ill, the lack of energy is quite debilitating and, personally, I'm struggling to power through.

Glad to hear you're feeling brighter @thenewaveragebear1983 - make sure you don't overdo it!

It's different if it happens after the isolation though according to this.

So using that info graphic as an example, if dad had got symptoms on day 15 not day 13, everyone (even previously positive cases) would have to do another 14 days

Smelliethenelephant · 08/11/2020 12:13

I am coughing a lot today but not as breathless, so that's something. Also had terrible insomnia,) last night, hoping that's not a thing!

SheilaTakeABow · 08/11/2020 12:19

@thenewaveragebear1983, yeah, I read that one too. I think we're ok, as I'm still in my isolation period (day 9 or 10 for me, not quite sure when to count from, and DH's issues started yesterday, although he now seems to be recovered Hmm).
I can imagine there are a lot of employers out there who will be less than amenable to constant cycles of isolation, and that's another issue; that taking repeated periods of time off/at home is a luxury that not many people can afford.

ScottishDream · 08/11/2020 14:44

@SheilaTakeABow much as I’d like more time off, it would be spent trying to home school my children while my husband hides in his office - this will be a break.
My back/upper chest has started to ache today, and the lack of a sense of smell isn’t nice. Other than that and a slight headache I’m not too bad though. No temperature, and not even much of a cough.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/11/2020 15:04

I feel a bit perkier today but still have the weird feeling like my head is being squeezed, had anyone had that? Also I have had very mild burnt lungs feeling. I have definitely gotten off very lightly

I was told yesterday that my boss is not going to isolate because he doesn't agree that he was near enough to me. He's head teacher of our school. The other person who sat at the desk he sat at (they were covering admin roles in my office as all office staff had coronavirus!) has now got symptoms. And yet he reckons he wasn't close enough.... 🤔 I would be interested to see what happens because I named him on my track and trace but I've been informed off the record that he will remain in work next week. And yes, last week, he did have 'just a head cold' - I honestly despair 😩

lulabelleread · 08/11/2020 17:13

Hello, joining here. Tested positive this afternoon after a colleague at work tested positive Thurs and several of us had to self isolate. My symptoms so far are feeling like I have a cold - runny nose, aches all over and bizarrely the coldest feet and toes going! Worst thing is is that if someone else hadn't have tested positive in my dept I'd have carried on going into work and just thought it was a cold. Hope everyone is feeling okay xx

DottyWott · 08/11/2020 17:50

I’m joining late, but my symptoms started 15 days ago.
I hoped to be much better by now but if anything the exhaustion is worse. Horrible, achey muscles, stiff joints and tired body.
Cough for first few days but gone now.
Loss of taste And smell since day 5.

What has helped me: hot tub for steam and aches/stiffness. Think that’s it. Paracetamol doesn’t really do anything. When nasal stuffiness is bad I’ve had a flu capsule which helps ease it.

incognitomum · 08/11/2020 23:35

I'm not tired yet but I'd say symptoms started nearly a week ago? Can tiredness come on later? I'm usually pretty fit. I walk long distances but don't do HIIT or anything.

cherrytreeblossom · 09/11/2020 09:45

How's everyone doing ?

I'm starting to be scared I'm in the long Covid camp

I'm so weak, achy and breathless x

incognitomum · 09/11/2020 09:55

@cherrytreeblossom how long have you had it? Are you taking any vitamin supplements?

cherrytreeblossom · 09/11/2020 09:58

@incognitomum first symptoms October 14th

I'm taking vitamin c and zinc drink every day
Vitamin d spray
Magnesium

ScottishDream · 09/11/2020 10:15

I’m back in work. Feel a bit headachey and low energy, but I’m coping.
My sense of smell is up to around 5% of normal.

@cherrytreeblossom I hope you feel better soon. Maybe try some multivitamins too?
I found turmeric tea quite comforting as well. And getting outside, even if only to sit.

HarrietOh · 09/11/2020 11:04

Just been for my test after completely losing my sense of smell and taste yesterday afternoon. Only other symptom is a horrible headache that feels like lots of pressure in my head, and it's been this way since Saturday!

alpinia · 09/11/2020 11:16

@cherrytreeblossom have you spoken to your gp? I was able to get better painkillers and steroids which really helped reduce the inflammation.

But the most important thing is to rest as completely as possible. Every time I did something small I had awful relapses for days afterwards. Sitting outside in the sun was probably the thing that felt the nicest.

CooperLooper · 09/11/2020 11:31

@HarrietOh sounds exactly the same as me except my headache came first for 6 days, day 6 turned into sinus/face pain and now I've had no taste/smell for 4 days!

I've got one of those saline nasal flushy things coming from Amazon today so I'm hoping that helps with the headachey sinus face eye socket pain!

I'm really really missing my taste and smell though, really struggling. Such a shit side effect 😥

HarrietOh · 09/11/2020 11:35

@CooperLooper I hope this headache doesn't last for 6 days! I never normally suffer from them and it's so hard to focus on my work with it. I'm taking paracetamol but it's not completely helping.

Loss of taste is definitely annoying. I'm eating things but almost feels a waste when you can't taste it.

CooperLooper · 09/11/2020 11:42

I'm day 9 today from symptoms starting and still have this headache. My husband is on day 12 today and today is the first day he hasn't had the headache! 😥

ScottishDream · 09/11/2020 12:32

I’ve found 4head headache stick really helps with the headache.
Keep drinking too, stay hydrated.

HarrietOh · 09/11/2020 12:49

I know of frequent headache sufferers who always use that 4head stuff so might look into it!

incognitomum · 09/11/2020 13:39

@cherrytreeblossom well they're the good ones.

I've been having apple cider vinegar with mother in lungwort tea. I also bought a b12 spray and my sore tongue is better. Might be a coincidence but it is linked.
