Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

Just had my positive result today. My DW tested positive on Saturday having had ( what we thought) was a bit of a cold. No temp, not really a cough but runny nose and and a bit of sinus pain. She lost her sense of smell on Friday and this was what prompted the test. I had no symptoms other than sore eyes, they felt swollen in their sockets, and a bit of sinus pain on one side of my face. Slight runny nose. Today, I awoke with conjunctivitis. I've developed a cough too. But not a major one by any means. What's shocked us is how these symptoms can be easily dismissed as a cold.

I don't want to jinx it, but I'm feeling a little better each day. My taste is definitely coming back and today I've been up and about almost as usual.
I'm still fairly worn out and the headache is back, but it feels manageable now.
I don't know if the regular breathing exercises (daily since I first had strange symptoms in March) and extra Vits C and D from then too have helped. Or I may well be speaking too soon.
Flowers to those still feeling rough. It's always worth speaking to a GP; there are lots of people on the Long Covid FB pages who've been given eg inhalers to help with long running symptoms of breathlessness

Urgh. I feel absolutely shattered after a day at work. I’m going to head to bed early. I’m not sure DH still self isolating with two energetic children has had it any easier.

CooperLooper · 09/11/2020 19:10

For those who lose their smell/taste and it's now back, did it return gradually throughout the day? Or was there a noticeable difference in the morning after waking up?

Just wondering when I can expect improvements, I keep hoping every morning it's better but nope!

kazza446 · 09/11/2020 19:30

I’m currently on day 8. Felt ok last week, managed to continue working from home. Saturday it became worse and I’ve been in bed last 24 hours. Feel absolutely floored with exhaustion. My main symptoms are cough and headache but I’ve also felt nauseous today. Lost my sense of taste and smell Thursday. Slight improvement to my taste today but still no sense of smell. My ds started with symptoms yesterday and my dh has started today so just waiting on their results. 2 days left for my self isolation and I can’t even think about getting dressed never mind going out.

MummaPI · 09/11/2020 19:35

Can I join please? No me but DH had a positive result today. Started Saturday with aching so much he could barely stand and mild throaty cough. Yesterday had much more of a cough, so achy and tired but can't seem to sleep. Today his cough is really phlegmy, dizzy and aching so bad.
I'm a worrier and thats what I'm doing. Feel so helpless.
Can I ask how many of you with positive results are keeping out of the way at home? My DH is terrified of giving it myself and our two kiddies.

ScottishDream · 09/11/2020 20:19

@MummaPI we have shared all the germs both times... DH is feeling run down and achey today, but neither of us is that bad. Children had a mild temperature last weekend but are otherwise fine.

ScottishDream · 09/11/2020 20:21

@CooperLooper I’ve lost my sense of smell, it had gone down to zero but now I have a slight sense, maybe 5%. More if I’m eating something than if I sniff something. I hope it comes v back properly.

CooperLooper · 09/11/2020 20:23

@ScottishDream glad to hear it's coming back albeit slowly. It's such a shit side effect, a really spiteful symptom!

HarrietOh · 10/11/2020 10:36

Still waiting for my test result but Day 4 and I still can't smell anything, and this morning woke up to find my throat is starting to get sore now.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/11/2020 11:04

I'm on day 7 today and I feel pretty ropey. I was not prepared for the neurological disturbance to be honest: tingling, numbness, heart palpitations, confusion. Last night I felt like I was in quite a dark place to be honest, my heart rate jumping from 38 bpm (normal resting for me, I'm dead inside Grin) to 60/70 then back down again. My mouth and nose feel numb today. I honestly feel like I'm back in the late 1990s coming up on a bad pill, it's the most unsettling and horrible feeling especially when it lasts 2 days straight.

How is everyone else doing today?

ScottishDream · 10/11/2020 11:29

@thenewaveragebear1983 funny you should say that about pills. I said to DH the nose/sinus dryness felt like being on a pill. Shame we don’t get any of the positives.

Day 12, I’m back in work still. Feel a bit headachey and fatigued but otherwise mostly back to normal. I’m taking it as easy as I can though.

Cafcesque · 10/11/2020 15:49

Have felt absolutely wiped out the last 3 days. Have a little bit of a cough eg throat clearing but no other symptoms yet. I'm now day 8 after testing positive and still not sure if this is still coming or I'm on the mend?

Smelliethenelephant · 10/11/2020 17:33

I dunno what day I'm on now I've lost count but the weird symptoms keep coming. Have had the oddest smell in my nostrils all day and a really.weird burnt sensation in my chest. Absolutely fed up of the whole thing.

blobbyface · 10/11/2020 18:18

I'm on day 4. Day 1 was slight temperature & headache. Days 2 & 3 feeling out of breath when going up the stairs or doing any housework. Today I've felt absolutely wiped out and my eyes have been sensitive to daylight. I've only just got out of bed. Chest feels right still. Lots of appetite as my sense of taste is altered - keep thinking I've got blood in my mouth as it tastes metallic.

blobbyface · 10/11/2020 18:19

I mean - chest feels tight and loss of appetite!

HarrietOh · 10/11/2020 21:01

Just got my positive result through, bit of a relief to know I wasn’t going mad with this awful headache and not being able to smell anything.

incognitomum · 10/11/2020 21:07

It's a very weird virus isn't it?

BloomedAgain · 10/11/2020 21:09

I thought I was coming out of it but today I'm incredibly hoarse and stabbing pain in front of neck. Feels like I'm breathing thick air but my oxygen levels are ok. anyone else had this lovely development?

incognitomum · 10/11/2020 21:10

@BloomedAgain that sounds terrible.

BloomedAgain · 10/11/2020 21:31

I think I need another early night @incognitomum

brimfullofasha · 10/11/2020 21:31

I tested positive at the weekend. I didn't have any of the symptoms at the time but felt strange- tired and achy. Since then I've gone right downhill with a temp getting up to 39.8, freezing feet, dizziness, nausea and a cough. Feel guilty that I didn't clock my symptoms earlier as sent the kids to school last week. As someone else said, we are so used to battling on and feeling a bit tired is par for the course.

HarrietOh · 10/11/2020 21:53

@brimfullofasha sounds awful, hope you feel better soon.

brimfullofasha · 10/11/2020 22:41

Thank you @HarrietOh

incognitomum · 10/11/2020 22:45

Wishing everyone healing through the night.
