Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

Yes, I've been taking Vits C and D and a cocktail of other supplements since I thought I had it last time, so I'm hoping they stand me in good stead.
Glad to hear you're much improved @Lightsabre Flowers

ScottishDream · 05/11/2020 12:29

I take my high strength vitamin D spray, and then a fizzy vit c/zinc drink with added spatone.

Symptoms for me are still vague headache, bit achey, congested sinuses, slightly snotty and absolutely no sense of smell. Also not much energy. DH has been told he needs next Mon-Thurs off to mind the children as I’ll be back in work.

PrivateD00r · 05/11/2020 12:57

You seem to be doing well Scottish Flowers
I really cannot imagine being back to work next week. It is really full on and no point in me going back until I am ready to be on my feet for my 13 hour shifts. My legs are so sore today, I can't stand for more than a few minutes. Weirdest thing.

ContemplatingLife435 · 05/11/2020 13:28

I had a strange 3 day period that was actually 15 days late just before I tested positive and now that I'm on day 11 of symptoms uts back again

Had a bit of a chesty cough, it really hurt round my breastbone. Of course I immediately start thinking of the worst case scenario and assume I am going to develop pneumonia.

Still feeling a bit headache/bit achey/ vaguely yuck, but nothing to write home about.

slummymummy35 · 05/11/2020 15:13

Hi everyone, hop aw e you are all doing ok today. I'm day 4 and completely wiped out, breathless and dizzy today. Still no sense of smell or taste and still feel nauseous. Still no temp or cough though which is good. Xx

BloomedAgain · 05/11/2020 15:54

I still (!) have a fever, partial loss of taste and breathless. No test results yet. Still in bed and trying to stay hydrated.
Got a message that I'm to shield again. Great timing 😉

SheilaTakeABow · 05/11/2020 16:43

Try not to worry @ScottishDream, according to the ZOE, I think chest pain is one of the symptoms most people get, regardless of severity. There's also something called costochondritis, which I was unofficially diagnosed with last time - causes pain right in the sternum.
@Slummymummy35, try to rest if you're wiped out. No fever sounds positive, I've never had one either.
@BloomedAgain, is nothing touching your fever? How long has it been?
I feel a great deal better today, but I've read enough on here over the past days/weeks/months not to count my chickens just yet Confused

cherrytreeblossom · 05/11/2020 17:29

I'm day 21 today and more breathless than ever

How does that work ??

BloomedAgain · 05/11/2020 17:49

@SheilaTakeABow The fever is on day 4. Paracetamol isn't touching it. Hope it settles down.

ScottishDream · 05/11/2020 18:03

@BloomedAgain I think fever in itself isn’t necessarily a bad thing - it’s just your immune system making your body less pleasant for the virus. Keep drinking clear liquids and eating if you can.

@cherrytreeblossom I had what I thought was Covid (that then turned into pneumonia) in the spring. The breathlessness was horrible, and took a good few months to resolve. Fingers crossed yours doesn’t last that long.

Smelliethenelephant · 05/11/2020 20:51

Does anyone know if you need a doctor's note if you don't return to work on day 11? I'm day 6 and exhausted, not sure I could even drive to work let alone do anything productive when I get there.

ScottishDream · 06/11/2020 08:12

Not sure @Smelliethenelephant what have your work said?

Is there anyone a bit further one who has got their sense of smell back? I feel a bit sniffly and coldy, but it’s the absolute lack of ability to smell anything that’s getting me down the most.

Smelliethenelephant · 06/11/2020 08:25

Thanks @ScottishDream I haven't asked them yet, just wondering. I'm in teaching so there's no chance of working from home for a.bit.i have half my sense of smell back now - day 7, it's mainly exhaustion and aches and pains for me at the moment.

ScottishDream · 06/11/2020 08:42

@Smelliethenelephant I’m in teaching too. I’m due back on Monday/day 11 and I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be teaching any great lessons. Day 8 for me and the only thing I can smell is a snotty/coldy smell. I’ve got a few aches and a slight headache but nothing worse than I’d normally work through.

I hope you feel better over the weekend, teaching while sick isn’t fun.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 06/11/2020 08:44

I doubt a doctor would see you but would probably extend your sick leave by phone if you needed it. It might not be necessary though, since it's covid, I guess you need to speak to your employer. Definitely don't go back until you're better.

I'm on day 7 and feeling quite a bit better, although still zero sense of smell.

SheilaTakeABow · 06/11/2020 09:52

I really feel for anyone facing a return to work; I feel tons better (touch wood) but just tried to empty the dishwasher and I'm exhausted.

@Smelliethenelephant, I'm sure if you ring your GP they could do a note over the phone. I think everyone knows by now that overdoing it is a bad idea with this, so I'd like to think your work would understand.

@ScottishDream, I'm on Day 8 too and while I still can't smell, there is a tiny taste of sweetness coming through in my jam Smile.

PrivateD00r · 06/11/2020 13:22

I am not returning next week, I have already notified work. I was told I don't need a sick note until after 14 days and I hope to be back by then.

Scottish, still no taste or smell here but tbh that has been the least of my worries, I have been too nauseous until today to eat anyway. I feel a glimmer of hope today, have been up out of bed a bit more :-)

Idontbelieveit12 · 06/11/2020 16:01

Has anyone’s first symptom been a tightness in the chest? I’ve no other symptoms but this has started today. I do have anxiety but never had this before and wasn’t feeling anxious when it started... I am now though!

Cafcesque · 06/11/2020 16:57

Hi I tested positive on monday. I have no temperature and no loss of taste/smell. I had a v v slight cough. My chest feels a bit tight a bit like when you have heartburn, slight cold and feel tired eg heavy legs.

ive taken my daughter put of school and am hoping I'm not too ill. She is 5 and needs attention and doesn't understand that she shouldn't be crawling all over me. She also sleeps in the same room as me at night although on a pull out bed (wont stay in her room).

ScottishDream · 06/11/2020 17:04

I have maybe 1% of my sense of smell. I cut and fried some onions and got a hint of the taste. Same with a load of bread.

We had pizza for tea, and other than the salt and spicy jalapeños I couldn’t taste a thing. Might as well be eating cardboard.

Fingers crossed it comes back soon.

lazylockdowner · 06/11/2020 17:51

I'm off a test in a hour, had tummy pain and dihorria Monday then from yesterday have feel really exhausted with sore throat, sneezing, sore achy muscles in legs and arms and stiff sore back and hips like period pain. Didn't occur to me that it could've COVID but because I work in school I have been told to test

ScottishDream · 07/11/2020 07:35

@SheilaTakeABow @Cafcesque @PrivateD00r @Smelliethenelephant @BloomedAgain @cherrytreeblossom

How are you all doing today?

Other than a few aches in my sinuses/upper back, and still no sense of smell, I feel pretty much normal.
Day 9 for me.

cherrytreeblossom · 07/11/2020 09:38

I'm not normal :( haven't left house for almost a month , or been dressed come to think of it

Totally weak and exhUsted if i try and do anything
Aching legs like I've run a marathon
Breathless if I try and do anything

Sick of it ! This is 4th week I think

My actual first part of it was just like a mild cold but I'm struggling so bad to get better

Cafcesque · 07/11/2020 09:58

@ScottishDream
Feel tired sore throat and cold but that's it for the moment. Day 6 since I tested positive. No temperature or loss of smell yet.
Nobody else I'd seen has any symptoms yet thank goodness.
