Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

Taken a turn for the worst and been really sick just now - I thought I'd turned a corner and was feeling dandy this morning.

Now I've got a thumping head ache and just feel grim. Confused For info: day fifteen since positive test, day seventeen since developed symptoms. ☹️

trader21c · 06/12/2020 06:56

Magna sorry to hear this sounds awful what I’ve noticed about Covid is you think you might just might be over the worst then it knocks you down again. Youareabunch I got double calls too as tested positive a day after DH they don’t seem to join up the cases

trader21c · 06/12/2020 06:57

Hey did anyone manage to go back to work this week how did you get on/ feel?

Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls · 06/12/2020 08:29

I had another test and it has come back positive. I think I have a mild case compared to most folk here. Had body aches and exhaustion but no cough/sore throat at all. The worst for me is not being able to taste and smell anything, I hope this doesn’t last long

KTD27 · 06/12/2020 11:04

Oh boo @Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls I wondered if that would happen. Glad you’re feeling like it could be mild. My taste is semi back and it’s been two weeks since it disappeared so fingers crossed it returns entirely by roast potatoes Christmas Day

Unicant · 06/12/2020 12:50

Feeling okay today. Slight sore throat but still no cough or temp. Bit tired but seem to have recovered from dizziness. Hoping its just a mild case and I never get the worse symptoms. Husband still feels like he has a bad cold... no cough. Kids are both completely fine which is kinda sad for them being trapped in the house for 14 days... they both had negative tests.
Track and trace have started harassing me now lol I understand what you mean!
Thinking of everyone on here with bad symptoms, I hope you start to feel better soon x

starrynight19 · 06/12/2020 13:40

Woken up with the worst pain right across my back. Still got a terrible cough and a bit wheezy as well. Felt better yesterday than I do today. Day 9 for me.

Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls · 06/12/2020 13:42

@KTD27 oh I know I really hope by Xmas day my taste is back! How disappointing if not! Tho at the same time feeling very thankful that I only seem to have it mild. Hoping it doesn’t get any worse for me

Miseryl · 06/12/2020 14:31

Four days after my positive test, still completely asymptomatic. Feel completely fit and well. I am thankful and I'm sorry for everyone who is suffering.

Covidwoes · 06/12/2020 21:50

3 weeks since testing positive and I feel a lot better, but my sense of smell is completely shot, and I can still barely taste a thing. I really hope they come back soon. I'm finding the taste thing hard!

IHeartKingThistle · 06/12/2020 23:26

@magnarocks how are you doing today?

Day 23 here. Went back to work on Friday - got through it but very tiring and back to full teaching timetable this week so a bit scared! Also tried some music practice for the first time thinking I'd be OK - nope, I do not yet have the stamina or puff to play a brass instrument! But I'm sure I'll get there. It's one step at a time isn't it? And that's definitely not a big problem in the grand scheme of things - I'm very grateful to be as well as I am and have my taste and smell back.

Hope you're all doing OK. It will end!!!

magnarocks · 07/12/2020 08:59

@IHeartKingThistle thanks for asking - still feeling poop, I must have seriously overdone it (even though I didn't physically do very much at all.) ☹️

I was planning to go back to work this week but don't see how I'll manage if I can barely stay awake with aching legs and a thumping head. I'm going to speak to my manager later.

Hope you're doing better all. Thanks

Day 20 I think, I am so exhausted. The back pain from the pleurisy is subsiding now. I managed a walk around the block on Sunday. I can't get my head into thinking straight. Not in work until next week.

Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls · 08/12/2020 11:34

Has by one else developed a pin in the chest when taking a deep breath in? Generally feeling much better but the last couple of days have had this pain

Covidwoes · 08/12/2020 13:05

@Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls I had that for a few days. It feels better now. My GP said it was very likely post viral inflammation. Unfortunately I couldn't take ibuprofen due to pregnancy, but it might be worth a try.

Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls · 08/12/2020 13:32

Thank you so much @Covidwoes, I hope you and baby are well. It’s not bothering me especially but you know what it’s like, you get paranoid about everything! I will keep an eye on it but fingers crossed it doesn’t get any worse

AstridAv · 08/12/2020 13:37

Can I join please.. 3 on in my DCs class of 8 children have tested positive. My DC now has a temp and a cough. My food tastes weird and I have a banging headache. Waiting on test results due to last ones being inconclusive.

AstridAv · 08/12/2020 13:38

Also I thought I had chillblains on my toes but a few people on that thread said covid toes so now I'm wondering if that's what it is.

Thethingswedoforlove · 08/12/2020 13:42

I have found my people! Two days since positive result but 8 days since onset of symptoms. Totally wiped and lost sense of taste and smell yesterday evening. Attempting to work but close to giving up. The foggy head is just so hard to deal with. Does it depend on the strain do you think as I guess it can’t be how old you are or how fit as to how hard it hits you. Three out of four in this house tested positive. The youngest negative despite seemingly having the same symptoms. So strange.

LavenderBee · 08/12/2020 14:26

On day 22 .... much better... ‘‘twas awful! Though still dreadful cough and breathless after walking across the room. My self employed work has gone to pot as slot if it involves public speaking... no chance with this cough. Have resigned myself to not work until the new year... not gaining enough momentum in recovery. So odd, as my mum in her 70s who had loads more underlying health issues than me has (thankfully) recovered far better than I, as has my dad who has lung cancer. Made me think my health status quo and what I need to do to improve it once I’m recovered. Nasty virus, hope for healing for you all x rest!! I still sleep a good 12 hours which was unthinkable before I was ill!

starrynight19 · 08/12/2020 16:23

Sorry to hear so many people still suffering for weeks. Day 10 for me today , track and trace said it was day 11 but apparently the day of symptoms is day 0 the doctor told me. Had a rough couple of days and ended up at hospital to be monitored and have an ecg / bloods and chest X-ray. Thankfully all ok so back home to rest some more. The back pain became unbearable every time I took a breath. I couldn’t physically lie on my back with it. I have history of pneumonia so needed to check. Ibuprofen seems to be taking the edge off it for now but was literally in tears through the night Sunday. Still coughing and breathless and heart rate goes up when I do anything.

Astrid I have definately heard of covid toes so very possible.

Drawme my pain literally started at the weekend with when I felt I was recovering from all my other symptoms and was on the mend.

Therthingswedo I honestly think that’s the case or the superspreader thing exists. My dp had it four weeks ago and I didn’t catch it yet in my class at school five days after me being back 6 of us tested positive.

Lavendarbee it’s so odd I have been by far the worst out of most people I know. And I totally know what you mean about talking for a long period of time I just don’t see how I will have the energy to do that going back to work.

justaday · 08/12/2020 22:54

Hi, can I join?

Tested positive today, I live with my parents and brother, my mum works in a school and her teacher tested positive on Friday. We both felt a little odd, mild cold like symptoms, definitely wouldn't have thought anything of it if it wasn't for the close contact. Both tested positive, my dad has a fuzzy head, and my brother is totally fine, no symptoms at all.

I found this thread by chance, I've read the whole thing, and it is so reassuring, thank you all so much for posting. I dont really know anyone else who has had it, this has been so interesting.

So far, it's not too bad, mum is on day 4 and I am on day 3, both feel like we have a cold, nothing more. No fever, cough or lack of smell so far, feeling knackered though, and my legs really ache, and have done for a few days. Insomnia is pretty bad though, not sure if that's anxiety related. I had a sharp pain in my chest last week, very similar to pleurisy that I've had before, but I didn't really think anything much of it, it went away by itself.

Hope those who are still suffering feel better soon, this thread has made us feel less alone Smile

This is a really strange virus, I am having cold sweats and shivery today, had an odd feeling like a blockage in my lungs last night, that coughing could not shift. Woke up to a pain roughly where my left kidney is. I feel like a hypochondriac, silly symptoms where I would normally go to work, have floored me.

It is a fucker. I went to Sainsbury's today - have needed to sit down for nearly two hours afterwards. Wtf?
