Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

I have chronic fatigue so am always tired, never get up early etc.. since covid positive on Friday I'm waking up early. Can't get back to sleep easily?! What is this? Anxiety? Insomnia?! So wierd. Difficult to settle and get comfy in bed it's so odd my legs feel so strange.

Covidwoes · 30/11/2020 08:43

Positive test was just over two weeks ago. I'm definitely improving energy wise, although haven't attempted anything too energetic yet! Still no taste or smell though. The taste thing is driving me crazy and is showing no signs of coming back! Has anyone else got this? Back to work (teaching) on Wednesday and I'm nervous as the heating isn't switched on and all windows are open. I think I'm going to find it really tough in the cold.

Can I join in?

I am on Day 6 from the test - very mild symptoms at first but DH had tested positive so I got tested too.

I just feel rough. I keep getting up and moving about, trying to do normal stuff, and then having to sit down - folded two bags of washing and needed a lie down afterwards. Achy today and so tired.

DH is worse than me - he had no symptoms and was a random test via the Zoe app. He has had the aches and pains, tired and last night had a high temp. He is vulnerable - overweight (as am I) asthma and high blood pressure - so I am trying to do stuff for him, but just sent him to make me a brew.

The poor dog is going daft without walks, and we have builders in the garden which is shit timing.

Stay off until you are right. Everyone is so caught up in their own woes that they forget to make allowances. A colleague came back after two weeks and looked dreadful on Monday - she was then off again by Wednesday.
Covidwoes · 30/11/2020 13:21

As the day has gone on, I now feel like I have a cold! Got a stuffy nose and a noticeable ulcer has appeared on my tongue. Covid...the gift that keeps on giving!

Please don't rush back. You shouldn't go back until you feel ok being on your feet for a few hours!

I can't offer hope on the taste thing, still nothing here over 4 weeks on. I must admit that is the thing that has bothered me least compared to everything else, though I might say otherwise if I don't get to taste my Christmas dinner!

That actually happened to me too at exactly the same point!
Covidwoes · 30/11/2020 13:50

@PrivateD00r I have a feeling my loss of taste and smell might last a while. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and really should be eating more at this stage, but I'm finding it hard to motivate myself when I can't taste food! I'm usually such a foodie, so finding it really annoying!

That's interesting you got cold symptoms around the same stage! I haven't had a stuffy nose at all until today!

I think although there is a 10 day isolation, it takes a lot longer than that to recover. We still need to have test periods when we can.

I’m on day 14 and went out for the first time yesterday for a wander round town. Came home, made homemade fish n chips, which then required me to deep clean the entire hob and mop floor. After that I was so fatigued, I didn’t get off the sofa for four hours. The cough which had subsided a few days ago came back too.

Today I’m taking it easy after dropping dd off at school.

Take care everyone. Hope you all feel better soon.

First day back at work today. Day 20 post test.
Taken minimal drugs wish I'd had more. Niggly headache from 2pm and now on sofa needing a break before I start with the dinner cooking.

Covidwoes · 30/11/2020 16:07

Have been feeling a bit warm all day. Just took my temp for the first time in over a week and it's 37.8! What are you supposed to do when that happens?! I'll check on it tomorrow as it'll hopefully be a one off, but argh!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 30/11/2020 16:23

The builders have blocked access to the front and back gardens. DH is putting the lead on the dog to walk him up and down the garden path.

I think that if you have a temperature you have to continue to isolate.
KTD27 · 30/11/2020 16:58

You do @Covidwoes. Another 48 hours after a temp.
Doc says they think I have a chest infection so have prescribed me antibiotics and signed me off for a week. Glad for the last bit as work are giving me a RIDICULOUSLY hard time about coming back ‘now immediately get here forthwith’ not allowing me to work from home even though I could and just making my life way more stressful than it needs to be. Sigh.
Anyway in other news I can sort of taste things again. Day 16 and about a week and a wee bit of no taste and smell. So hopefully light at the end of the tunnel for some of you who have lost theirs.

Creepertime · 30/11/2020 17:23

Day 13 for me. Decided to have another week off work after a rough weekend then today felt a bit better, decided to do 10 minutes of housework and I’m wiped out.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 30/11/2020 18:05

Day 23 for me (day 18 from positive test) - swimmy head sensation and fatigue has mostly gone, smell and taste is back (slightly fainter than before but only mildly), I have a very occasional little cough but that might be where I sometimes have to talk for 3 or 4 hours over Teams for work.

My stomach is mostly back to normal but a sausage bap yesterday morning was a bad move - have to go easy on fat I think, my colon wasn't too happy about it.

I'm not someone that suffers with regular illness or colds, no idea why I succumbed to Covid. I'm aged 48 with a BMI of 36, so close to "vulnerable" in the obese category I suppose, but no long term effects as far as I can tell?

magnarocks · 30/11/2020 19:40

Day 12 since developing symptoms here. I'm definitely getting there, it's just a longer process than I'd like it to be. Fatigue is still my main issue, and a nasty cough at times. And no taste or smell... we'll get there.

This thread has been a great support, especially in the scary early days.

Oh the restless legs are awful. I found Vitamin B helped a bit.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 01/12/2020 09:12

I have had very little sleep. But DH still feeling worse than me so he clocked the lie in. Again.

Can anyone advise? DH is on Day 7 post test: he has had strong muscle/joint pains which are not really easing, and has just come downstairs all shivery despite the heating being on.

Does that sound usual?

Creepertime · 01/12/2020 18:56

A better day for me today at day 14. I still went to bed for 3 hours this morning and after a shower needed to sit down for 2 hours aching and exhausted but that’s a better day
