Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

The week before my positive test I had upper abdominal pain... under both ribs and in middle of upper stomach under ribs. It now feels like kidney pain.. is kidney pain associated with Covid?

KTD27 · 28/11/2020 13:26

I had the WORST kidney pain with it @justmewithmylifetoday. But not until about day 4/5. DH too.

I have pains in exactly the same places in my abdomen and also a weird crawling sensation on my skin on my back behind my left lung - it feels nerve related. Day 4 for me so a long way to go yet.

dingledongle · 28/11/2020 17:46

Any one had spiking temp on and off like a hot flush?

I tested negative but daughter positive and we have been sharing everything in the house!

My temp and a headache is my biggest issue. Sometimes the thermometer is not even showing a temp but it's like I'm having a hot flush!

I’ve had a fairly short illness and am feeling pretty good now. Is anyone planning anything fun now they’re immune? Quite tempting to have a lovely warm holiday somewhere, we’ve not been abroad since covid first made its appearance.

I don't think we are immune. The news is full of people who have had covid many times. My nurse friend has contacted me about having the vaccine with all the info and when I asked about immunity she said it may only be a week or two!
Bulblasagnes · 28/11/2020 21:05

If most people didn’t become immune from having it, how do you think the vaccine will work? As far as I can see the latest research indicates most ppl are immune for a period of some months with a very small minority not becoming immune.

I’m day 13 today and my symptoms are still keeping me on my toes. Day 11 I could not move without a big coughing fit, had abdominal and back pain and had a hoarse voice. Day 12 severe lethargy, no cough (well not much), back and abdominal pain continued. Today I’ve woken up congested. I’m due back at work tomorrow but unsure whether to get a note for another week as I’m exhausted and just unsure what each day will bring. I’ve no taste still and so my appetite is low, I’m trying to mix textures on my plate a lot just so there’s some sensory thing going on.
Glad to have found this thread.

magnarocks · 29/11/2020 12:12

@TheBuggerlugs 🤗 hope you feel less anxious soon, I'm struggling with anxiety too. And insomnia.. I usually experience anxiety but it does feel worse at the moment.

It's ten days since I developed symptoms here and 8 days since positive test. I think I'm expecting a bit too much. Just going to try and relax a bit. Hope you all have restful Sundays. x

IamHyouweegobshite · 29/11/2020 12:35

Hi, day 11 today. I should be able to go out, have a walk etc. I woke up feeling as if I had smoked a whole packet of fags. I have a bad headache and slight temp again, and feel a bit sick. Had a bad tum last night. This virus just loves to keep on giving.

KTD27 · 29/11/2020 14:33

Oh no @IamHyouweegobshite another 48 hours of isolation is it after a temp?
We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Finally. Day 14 or 15 perhaps I can’t quite remember. The cough is sticking around but now weirdly productive and phlegmy. Not as knackered and my taste is slowly slowly coming back I think. DH feels loads better too. Has knocked us on our arse and we are young and relatively healthy. It terrifies me that older people are getting this and those with underlying health conditions. I hope that’s the last my family see of this virus I really do.
Hope the rest of you are feeling better this afternoon

I've been back a week at work. After 3 weeks from getting ill. Still get tired and still quite phlegmy/snotty. But feel better than I did.
Hope you guys feel better soon!
Just as another note, for those in families who all test together even though only one of you is unwell, just wait a few days.. because I took a test and I was negative. Waited 4 days, and was positive. My partner who I live with didn't take a test at all as no symptoms of anything. He would have loved to know if he'd got it! Probably asymptomatic, as we couldn't really avoid each other.

GreyishDays · 29/11/2020 20:23

Hi all. I am day 14 and feeling much, much better today. Still doing very little but my legs are much less jellylike.
I’m going to attempt a short day at work tomorrow. (From home.)

I’m a bit worried about DD. She’s meant to be back at school tomorrow but is still quite pathetic. She’s worried about missing more work though. I’m aiming for her to miss PE, last lesson of the day, and come home early.

danro · 29/11/2020 20:50

Looking for a bit of reassurance really.

Tested positive on 23rd October and still feeling not right - anyone else had the same thing?

Symptoms started on 21st with extreme tiredness, muscle aches and a temp. Got a test on this day and became more unwell over the next week or so with aches, temperature over 39c, diarrhoea, loss of taste and smell and a really nasty cough with chest pains. I was totally bed bound for over a week.

Spoke to a doctor the week later as not feeling much better and was prescribed antibiotics for my cough which seemed to help ease the pain though didn’t get rid of the cough or breathlessness. Fever broke after about a week and felt a lot better but still not ‘right’.

Went back to work after 15 days (I’m a teacher and was desperate to get back with my class) but have basically been struggling ever since. The tiredness is like nothing I’ve ever experienced - as soon as I get home from work I am sleeping and I am spending pretty much all weekend sleeping too, I’m having weird brain fog which means I’m unable to think clearly and the muscle aches - mainly my legs - are still there most days.

Has anyone experienced similar 5 weeks after their symptoms? Starting to lose hope that I’m ever going to be able to function normally again!

IHeartKingThistle · 29/11/2020 21:53

@danro that sounds awful. I'm only on day 15 but due to go back to teaching on Tuesday and I'm worried it's too soon. Do you think you should have stayed off longer?

Awarethebear · 29/11/2020 22:02

I'm really glad to have seen this thread, I tested positive on Thursday and have also had really bad kidney pain it's reassuring to see others have also experienced this as a symptom. My other symptoms have been headaches, dizziness, stomach aches, fever, vomiting and aching legs. Good luck to you all in a speedy recovery.

danro · 29/11/2020 22:42

@IHeartKingThistle

I do to be honest. And in hindsight I wouldn’t have gone back so soon. I went back on a Thursday and thought that I could get through the 2 days which I just about managed but as you know, the job is relentless (like many other professions) and it’s a tough gig when you’re not feeling 100%.

Take care and don’t rush your recovery is definitely a piece of advice I can offer.

I’m still struggling now with the tiredness and I’m giving everything during the school hours but am totally crashing afterwards which in turn makes me feel like I’m not on top of things and drowning in workload. Just hope I start turning a corner too but I know the recovery is different for everyone so fingers crossed you will be okay much sooner!

IHeartKingThistle · 29/11/2020 22:45

@danro thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I really hope you start to feel better soon but maybe you should give your line manager a heads up about how you're feeling?

@IHeartKingThistle thank you very much - you too!
Yes my school have been very supportive and have offered to cover additional breaks etc if needed (which I haven’t taken them up on as of yet but nice to have the option). I seem to be managing okay whilst actually in work but it’s the evenings/ weekends that are leaving me exhausted. Definitely worth another chat with my phase leader though thank you.

@TheBuggerlugs yes I am thinking of contacting my GP again as I am definitely at the point of not being sure what is normal or not now. Am taking multi vitamins so hopefully that will start helping. Thank you for your advice.
