Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

Hi @thebuggerlugs, I hope you managed to get some sleep? I've been up and down through the night, feeling really worried about DH catching it, he is refusing to sleep elsewhere as he's worried about my asthma. Does anyone know if we are allowed to take either cold/flu tabs or ibuprofen? I remember back in march everyone said not to take ibuprofen but I thought the guidance changed?

KTD27 · 23/11/2020 07:35

I’ve been nursing lemsip quite regularly gobshite didn’t even occur to me to check Blush can’t say it’s done much difference but perhaps it has, I don’t have anything to compare it to really.
Had the worst nights sleep in weeks, thoroughly stuffed up and congested and sneezing sneezing sneezing. It’s crazy!
Day 10. Surely coming to the end of it now... I managed to work from home last week but don’t know if I have it in me this week. Eugh.
Hope everyone else is ok?

magnarocks · 23/11/2020 07:42

Day 5 since symptoms began here and woken up feeling rough, no taste or smell still but my head kills and generally just feel achey all over. I've taken some painkillers and got back into bed so hopefully they'll kick in soon.

OH has now started coughing so we've requested postal swab for him. Sad

IamHyouweegobshite · 23/11/2020 07:45

Thank you, everyone else all ok at the moment,vi have three DC, 16, 14 and 11. My dc11 was isolating last week as school closed, she has asd and is very clingy to me. Once I knew I was positive I tried to stay in my room, but everyone keeps trying to be around me, which is lovely, but I'm so worried that they may get it.

Ooh might treat myself to a lemsip. Smile

I’m quite cough-y this morning :-(
Hacking sort of cough. I’m aware I’m in the dodgy period where mild could go serious. Day 7-10 I think. So now I’m reading lots into how I’m feeling.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

@GreyishDays I’ve been there and definitely done that. Keep wondering when I’m out of the danger zone as it were.
@TheBuggerlugs I’m literally sat in bed staring at my laptop thinking... no. Not today. So will let my boss know and see how that goes down.

GreyishDays · 23/11/2020 09:39

I told my work last week I’d probably be off for a week. And then I texted a couple of times. And yesterday told them I was no better.
No word about a sick note. I work for NHS/gov so it would be quite official I reckon.

I’ve never been off more than two days so I don’t know what normal.

IamHyouweegobshite · 23/11/2020 09:46

I work in a school, I feel awful as I cover teach and I've closed two classes. I'm off sick for the rest of the week, I can officially go back next monday. I'm confused over the dates do I start it from Thurs , when my I had a temp and headache or further back in the week when my asthma started being bad? I'm feeling a bit rubbish this morning, very chesty and going hot and cold, but no big temp. Off of food, really can't be bothered to eat, but I'm drinking water. I've noticed my sense of smell seems to have gone a bit , I couldn't smell mint tea, which is normally strong.

IHeartKingThistle · 23/11/2020 10:08

@IamHyouweegobshite mint tea was the first thing that went for me! I've still got a tiny bit of taste of some things but not that!

IHeartKingThistle · 23/11/2020 10:11

Does anyone else have restless legs? Drove me insane last night, didn't sleep till 2 Sad

littlemissgrinchy · 23/11/2020 10:38

Yes!! @IHeartKingThistle me.. driving me nuts! I couldn't even sit in a chair properly yesterday!! Never had an issue with restless legs, very bizarre

itispersonal · 23/11/2020 12:06

Me too @IHeartKingThistle

Stopped me sleeping for 2 nights but managed to sleep ok last night!

IHeartKingThistle · 23/11/2020 12:08

Does anything help? I'm on anti-sickness which I think is exacerbating it.

incognitomum · 23/11/2020 14:09

All those with restless legs try the b12 spray for under the tongue. For sickness try a little bicarb in water or juice.

Bonkerz · 23/11/2020 15:00

Hi all. Ended up in hospital Saturday night. Couldn't get my temp down and headache was horrid including eyes that felt like they would burst.
Had scans and anti biotics and kicked out today with a bag of pain killers.
Am no on sofa at home. Good news is I'm not infectious anymore although x Ray showed damage to my lungs despite not having a cough or problems breathing. Very bizarre.
Saw some horrid things while on the covid ward though.

magnarocks · 23/11/2020 15:18

Glad you're home @Bonkerz, sorry to hear you've been so poorly though.

KTD27 · 23/11/2020 15:25

Oh @bonkerz that’s properly crap I’m sorry.

LavenderBee · 23/11/2020 17:34

Sounds horrible @Bonkerz.... hope you make a good recovery

IHeartKingThistle · 23/11/2020 21:13

Glad you're home @Bonkerz .

I'm feeling sick again, day 10. Nauseous etc. It does feel like the panic attacks I have usually though and now I can't tell if it's virus or panic. This is horrible.

magnarocks · 23/11/2020 21:17

@IHeartKingThistle thinking of you. I think the virus can make you feel more anxious too. ☹️

I've now developed a dodgy tummy as well. And had a cry again tonight as want to know when I'll feel better again. I feel better for telling OH how I feel though. Hope everyone gets some good sleep tonight. x

IHeartKingThistle · 23/11/2020 21:26

Thank you. I'm not being very logical and I'm scared.

Bonkerz · 23/11/2020 21:38

One of the most common illness complaint on the covid ward wasn't actually breathing related it was dizziness and sickness! Heard the consultants say many times that it's inner ear issues cause by sinus infection caused by covid
