Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

OP posts:
H1978 · 21/11/2020 18:31

I’ve felt much better since my test which makes me think I had it a week prior to testing on Tuesday. I felt a lot worse last week, achy and headaches. I didn’t have any of the ‘classic symptoms’ hence not being tested sooner. I feel a bit guilty having being out doing the school run and spreading the virus. 😕

H1978 · 21/11/2020 18:31

Fingers crossed you all feel better soon. Flowers

KTD27 · 21/11/2020 19:01

@PrivateD00r oh gosh that sounds scary. I’ll defo ring if I get a temp like that. I haven’t had fever at all it’s one of the few things I’ve been without.

KTD27 · 22/11/2020 09:18

Aaaaand I’ve lost my sense of smell and taste. Day 9. The gift just keeps giving.

magnarocks · 22/11/2020 09:23

@KTD27 ☹️ Welcome to the no taste/no smell club, that was one of my first symptoms. I'm finding it really irritating - think it's because I'm usually food obsessed.

Feeling nauseous today, worn out and a little bit breathless on minimal exertion.

I'm taking a lot of comfort from this thread though so thanks OP.

LavenderBee · 22/11/2020 10:01

Morning all. Day 8 for me and feel worse than yesterday😢... horrible painful skin all night and I honestly feel like I’ve been kicked all over, especially around the ribs. I got up yesterday but I can’t face it today nor do I have the energy.
I’m self employed and have been offered work that needs starting in a couple of days... it involves supporting people and then public speaking in a week. I’ve already had to pass on a load of work but find it hard to see being over this by a weeks time. 😢

LavenderBee · 22/11/2020 10:05

@magnarocks I feel your pain re not being able to taste anything!! Everything is just texture.. crunchy, stodgy or slimy 😂

magnarocks · 22/11/2020 10:11

@LavenderBee poor you, that must be hard with work. ☹️ Hope you start to feel better ASAP. Thanks

I'm enjoying hot Ribena at the moment, it's so sweet that it has a faint taste and it's quite comforting too.

GreyishDays · 22/11/2020 10:15

@PrivateD00r

Greyish, the trouble there is, you still may not know. How many times would you keep repeating the tests to find out? Bearing in mind, you could well be taking tests away from others who need them and costing the NHS money unnecessarily? Just my opinion and only replying as you asked, this isn't the thread for this discussion really as we are all unwell Flowers
Yeah. I know. We’re actually in this position as DH feels crap but nothing specific.

He did one test based on that but won’t keep testing.

He’s struggling a bit with feeling crap for no reason.

LavenderBee · 22/11/2020 10:17

@magnarocks thank you - I just don’t want to seem unreliable in my work but it’s so hard to predict when I will be better!
Hot Ribena sounds good... I’m going to see if I can find a shopping fairy to grab us a few bits today. Ribena is on the list! X

MrsWarleggan · 22/11/2020 10:18

@KTD27

Day 9 and lost my taste last night!!! How weird!!!! We are bang on with each other!! I'm feeling relatively OK today. Bit tight chested and my back is really aching but I think that's from sitting round on a shit sofa!!

GreyishDays · 22/11/2020 10:19

So I am day 8 from loss of taste or day 10 from feeling knackered.
Legs still weirdly heavy/jelly. I’d be allowed out on Wednesday but I don’t think my legs will be up to it. Anyone know how long they last? Might need to wait till my husband is out on Saturday for the dog to be walked. Sad

Tangledtresses · 22/11/2020 10:26

@justleavemebe

So my results came back this morning I'm positive but my 4 daughters are negative? My symptoms of nausea and a headache started last Sunday and only because of this thread I tested because I wouldn't of associated those symptoms with covid Confused
Oh crickey just reading this thread all of this before half term... sick once, nausea for 10 days weird taste, but could still smell, weird low key headache, aching neck in mornings. This week I had tingling frozen fingers with odd bruises on one joint.
KTD27 · 22/11/2020 10:27

@GreyishDays maybe try a small slow walk round the block with company when you’re up for it. Dont push yourself or I fear you’ll end up ten steps backwards.
My DH has sent me up for a rest as I’m miserable. It’s all up in my sinuses all phlegmy and yuk. But mostly I’m miserable because I can’t taste anything. I love food Smile
@MrsWarleggan how funny!! Hope you continue to feel better. I had a tight chest last night but it’s gone again now thank goodness. That’s my worst symptom in terms of worry I think.

GreyishDays · 22/11/2020 10:51

I will, could take my DD as she’s allowed out the day before. The dog only gets a 20 minutes through the woods/round the block anyway but I don’t know when I’ll be able to do that.

littlemissgrinchy · 22/11/2020 15:25

I'm getting quite worried, I thought yesterday I'd turned a corner.. had a shower got myself dressed. It was short lived and I was back in bed by 3pm. Today I've been to the toilet and got back into bed.. I've done nothing. My whole body hurts, I'm dizzy when I stand and my headache just won't shift 😷 week today since I started feeling poorly.. the house is a tip.. the kids are in the garden playing .. fortunately very isolated here and rural. Feeling quite sorry for myself to be honest.

LavenderBee · 22/11/2020 16:13

@littlemissgrinchy sending you Flowers
I feel the same... Day 8 and feel worse than this time last week. And than yesterday. It’s hard to not worry about recovery times, the rest of the family and to not feel a bit lowered. Hope tomorrow is better for you

PrivateD00r · 22/11/2020 16:16

Yes! I also kept saying the virus was the gift that just keeps giving! Something new every flipping day. I am over 3 weeks in now, just had a shower and haven't the bloody strength to hold the hairdryer for more than 2 minutes without a rest. It is really really crap!!!

I hope everyone is improving Flowers

LavenderBee · 22/11/2020 16:42

@PrivateD00r.... oh that’s horrible, so sorry you still feel that weak after 3 weeks.
I may just have to face not working till after Xmas as - not wanting to be negative- but I can see that kind of pathway ahead. Solidarity sent to all x

My son tested positive today, only symptom a sore throat but I have also had a sore throat, headache and tired for the last few days so going to book a test for tomorrow. I’m worried as I’m in the vulnerable category but just need to get on with it I suppose Confused i hope everyone here feels better soon xx

ValleysGirl72 · 22/11/2020 23:14

Hi guys, nothing new to report here except that I was feeling quite down earlier. Went out the garden for a cry!

I contacted my boss to let him know that my isolation period is over on Thursday and did I have to get a fit note from my GP. He said no note needed I can self certify for up to 14 days.

He wasn't happy with the track and trace people, he's had covid back in April. I feel guilty because he's had to isolate again, and 2nd in command is having to deal with everything.

We're 2 members of the team down, plus me now.

He's made me promise to concentrate on getting better and not to worry about work.

DH is still behaving like a dying duck, and requesting cups of tea etc. If I had the energy, I'd slap him!!

IamHyouweegobshite · 22/11/2020 23:16

I tested positive today. I feel quite odd really, all week my chest has been very tight and wheezy, my asthma has really played up. I had the flu jab the week before, and I've been a bit achy, so I thought it's that. It only on Thurs and I was WFH that I felt really achy and cold, I got a slight temp of 37.5 . On Friday, temp was the same but I had a weird headache, booked a test in the afternoon.
I'm feeling rubbish tonight, been coughing lots and my chest is so sore.
