Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

OP posts:

Anyone struggling with exhaustion? Being 32 weeks pregnant and having a 2 year old isolating in the house isn't helping, granted, but my god I'm so tired. Going up the stairs feels like a monumental effort.

Bonkerz · 20/11/2020 14:58

Temp 38.2 today :0(

KTD27 · 20/11/2020 15:20

I can officially join as just got my result in the last hour or so.
Symptoms started over the weekend mainly just a cough. Tested Saturday but showed as negative. Was feeling ropey as anything by yesterday and Zoe asked me to test again so we sent off for a postage test and sure enough we are positive.
Today I’m better than yesterday but my eyeballs hurt! So strange. Coughing still though less than yesterday and chest not as tight at all. Hope that’s us over the worst. It’s not at all pleasant.

GreyishDays · 20/11/2020 15:20
@GreyishDays I wouldn't have tested again if DD had been with me throughout
@IndieTara I still don’t think that’s how it works. For example healthcare staff who have regular testing just do quarantine if asymptomatic or quarantine and wait for symptoms to go. They don’t need a negative test. It’s enough to do the time.

It’s weird heavy/jelly legs isn’t it? I have it too.
IndieTara · 20/11/2020 15:36

@GreyishDays yes that was my understanding too. Unfortunately DD's dad my XH likes to exert a little control whenever he can!

GreyishDays · 20/11/2020 15:44

Can you just lie then?

GreyishDays · 20/11/2020 15:46

I can give you negative wording if you need it, we’ve had negatives.

This feels like a really dodgy thing to say, but I think in the circumstances it’s ok?

PrivateD00r · 20/11/2020 15:47

Indie that is absolutely shocking, he has no right to stop your dc from returning to you. You could test positive for weeks or even months, but you are not infectious. You should not be using up precious tests (not blaming you in the slightest, its him!) and the official advice is that you should not retest for 90 days now you have had a positive. His behaviour is awful, you probably need to take legal advice.

Unfortunately exhaustion is a key symptom for most, and it can take a while to resolve Flowers

@magnarocks

Test in an hour. Feeling a bit rubbish and tearful (pls tell me I'm not being silly), can't taste or smell anything now. ☹️

Will keep you all updated.

You aren't being silly in the least. I tested pos 3 weeks ago and honestly, from I got that result, I cried every day. I am not usually in the least bit dramatic or anxious. It is really scary and isolating having this virus, I have never experienced anything like it! Please keep chatting here, hopefully we can reassure you that everything you experience is 'normal' Flowers
IndieTara · 20/11/2020 16:07

@PrivateD00r I'm used to it to be honest even after 8 years of being exes! And knowing him as I do he'll be desperate to get DD back to me by Monday so he can go back to work

KTD27 · 20/11/2020 16:50

@magnarocks I’m feeling the same. Super anxious and very worried.
Keep posting and Flowers for you

MrsWarleggan · 20/11/2020 16:58

I'm crying on the hour every hour. My symptoms started last Saturday the second I woke up, so I'm now into my 7th day. It's my chest that's scaring me the most. I'm 38 with no UMC but am a smoker (I know 🙄) my chest feels so tight. I got an oximeter coming tomorrow but I'm constantly holding my breath for 10 seconds to see if I can do it. I'm so scared 😢

DottyWott · 20/11/2020 17:24

Day 27!! A relatively OK day, that’s 2 in a row! Still nowhere fit for work, but I managed one school run without collapsing afterwards; spent all day lounging on the sofa watching Netflix, had a shower and didn’t need a sleep afterwards to recover... and I can taste and smell again!! Albeit reduced but it’s wonderful to enjoy cuppa and my meals- there’s not much else to look forward to!

IHeartKingThistle · 20/11/2020 17:49

@DottyWott goals right there!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/11/2020 19:09

I actually think the crying is a thing too. I have been so tearful this week, I returned to work on Monday (symptoms started 4th November) and tonight although I am feeling better physically, emotionally I feel shot to pieces. Really weepy and sensitive, and absolutely craving comfort food, grazing constantly, and feeling really really low. I'm normally very upbeat and cheerful and this is very unlike me.

magnarocks · 20/11/2020 19:35

Thanks @KTD27 and @PrivateD00r Smile I've slept this afternoon and feel a bit better for it. I'm hungry but keep feeling intermittently nauseous. Might try some porridge or soup in a bit - it's not like I will be able to taste it anyway.

I've heard from others that anxiety can be a part of this virus for some people so guess it would make sense that feeling more emotional could be too.

magnarocks · 20/11/2020 19:35

Last bit was in reply to @thenewaveragebear1983

That’s the thing that’s scaring me too. I too have ordered an oximeter from Amazon. I can’t concentrate on anything I’m watching as I can’t stop thinking about the feeling in my chest. What’s the 10 second thing please?
itispersonal · 20/11/2020 19:37

@H1978

I've done the same today. Amazon primed a oximeter which has been delivered tonight.

Bonkerz · 20/11/2020 19:41

So thought I felt better this morning. Got up did the online school thing and around 1pm felt rubbish. Can't seem to get my temp below 38.2 at all. Had paracetamol and a fan on me full blast. I'm frozen but my temps spiking at 38.8 Tried ice bags behind my neck. Not sure what else to do. Yesterday was my freedom date so I know I'm now stuck for another 48 hours which is fine. 3 kids all fine now. Scared I could reinfect them too.

Covidwoes · 20/11/2020 19:47

@Bonkerz had your temp disappeared and has now come back on day ten? Poor you. Sad

Oh no that’s sounds awful. The temperature in covid is relentless. Make sure you get plenty of rest and steam a few times in the day with eucalyptus oil.
MrsWarleggan · 20/11/2020 19:59

@H1978

It's testing your BOLT score. Take a deep breath in. Aiming for 40 seconds before you need to take another breath. Most people manage up to 20 if you can do over 10 your o2 levels are OK.

It's a very rough test, but might put your mind at rest x
