How many people have you touched in the last 6 months?

Went for a walk with a friend the other day and accidentally brushed her arm going through a gate. It felt very odd. Thinking about it, apart from that I really don't think I've touched anyone else outside of my household since march.

Was then talking to another friend about it and she reckoned she'd touched about 20. Not job related, just socially. Wtf?!

So what's your number?? Feel like this is the covid version of the 'how many people have you slept with?' threads!! 🤣

My mum became my childcare bubble so I've been lucky enough to hug her and have made the most of it.
Aside from that DH, DS and one friend, briefly, without thinking when we met for socially distanced coffee just after her mum had unexpectedly died. I don't regret it.

ShrekandDonkey · 22/10/2020 22:13

Probably about 1500.

I'm a radiographer so am touching lots of people on a daily basis!

UselessInDisguise · 22/10/2020 22:14

Noone outside of my household of DH and two DSs. Quite impressive depressing as DS2 was only born in January

popcorndreams · 22/10/2020 22:16

My partner, my toddler and baby nieces, 2 medical professionals for a blood test and flu jab. They touché dme though rather than me touching them iyswim. Then poss my mam and sister in passing the baby.

PracticingPerson · 22/10/2020 22:19

Only my dentist other than my household.

Tbh I wouldn't touch many people anyway, as o was not a hugger by nature.

MaryShelley1818 · 23/10/2020 05:54

My husband, my toddler and one friend.
Lots of medical people have touched me as I'm high risk pregnancy.

AmericanLemonade · 23/10/2020 06:02

Loads through work because I am a nursery teacher, socially - none

swapsicles · 23/10/2020 06:11

Quite a few accidental bumps at work, mainly through clothing mind, 1 customer held my hand and I had to catch another as they were falling into me!
Only hugged my mum once since March but no other nice contact. Me and dd are not huggers with anyone generally anyway but even 8m starting to miss hugs.

Camomila · 23/10/2020 06:20

6 'socially' - DH and both DC, mum, dad and probably DBro (tier one area, mum is my childcare).

A doctor and a nurse during lockdown - hurt my ankle and got it checked in A&E, luckily it was just bruised not broken.

Littlepond · 23/10/2020 06:42

I worked with young children with SEN so I’ve been hugged, sat on, pinched, kicked, led by the hand, prodded in the face...

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 23/10/2020 06:50

Twice I've hugged people that aren't members of my household. Immediately realised we shouldn't have and apologised. It's really weird.

emmathedilemma · 23/10/2020 08:08

I reckon 6 - 2 friends kids (don't have to socially distance under 12 in Scotland), 2 nephews (impossible to socially distance), sports massage and a friend who needed a hug more than any rules could keep us apart!

emmathedilemma · 23/10/2020 08:09

Make that 7, I had my haircut!

CherryPavlova · 23/10/2020 08:17

Interesting question and one that probably shows correlation to deteriorating mental health in so many people, given touch has such a positive physiological effect.

I think it is about 20-25, so nowhere near as many as usual.

rorosemary · 23/10/2020 08:24

I've only touched my husband and the cat. I have been touched by loads of medical professionals though (high risk pregnancy). I actually found out that I quite like being touched less Shock. I'm wondering if I can keep some if it after the pandemic. I'd rather shake hands than cuddle and kiss everyone again.

StCharlotte · 23/10/2020 08:25

DH (no DC)

Touched MIL's arm when saying goodbye after a visit

Two dear friends when they came to stay
Hugged a colleague when she was bereft after we had a bereavement in the office

Oh and a couple of friends who came round and he just went straight in with a bear hug

So several more than I should - always glad when 14 days passes...

dementedma · 23/10/2020 08:30

My mum, hairdresser, masseur, dd2 and ds.

IHTC · 23/10/2020 08:44

30+ people at least.

Hellomoonstar · 23/10/2020 11:22

Outside my household? I gave birth in April, had a medication review and the people in my bubble. That is a lot of people I touched.

timeforawine · 23/10/2020 11:25

Other than my husband and daughter no one, which i really don't mind, not a fan of hugging and hand shaking
Pharmacist touched my arm for my flu jab

timeforawine · 23/10/2020 11:25

Sorry hairdresser of course touches my head but with gloves on

Ewanispurple · 23/10/2020 14:05

Since March I've touched DH, 2 DCs, DM, and hugged 2 friends. I have been touched by a handful of medical staff at appointments but that's all for 7 Months! Makes me so sad, I'm a normally a serial hugger Sad

35andThriving · 23/10/2020 16:38

7 altogether

Dh, dc and my siblings.
