How many people have you touched in the last 6 months?

Went for a walk with a friend the other day and accidentally brushed her arm going through a gate. It felt very odd. Thinking about it, apart from that I really don't think I've touched anyone else outside of my household since march.

Was then talking to another friend about it and she reckoned she'd touched about 20. Not job related, just socially. Wtf?!

So what's your number?? Feel like this is the covid version of the 'how many people have you slept with?' threads!! 🤣

Seems I am in a minority in not touching people outside my household. I am ECV.

Apart from medical people just DH. I have SD from everyone else.
I haven't touched my adult sons since March and I ache to hug them.

apart from her partner she has no one else in the world to hug now. I’m not going to stop her being able to hug her mum
DS doesn't even have a partner but if I got covid and the worst happened (not unlikely because of my health) I couldn't bear for my DC to feel responsible.

Only DS twice since first lockdown. He's a teacher and his girlfriend is an A&E nurse and as we are in our 60s we aren't really seeing them, which has been hard. We met for a socially distanced picnic when the first lockdown ended then again in September a few days before the new term started. They are in a Tier 2 area so no idea when we'll get to see them.

My husband. That's it.

But I cuddle my cats every day and play with their toes when they'll allow it.

I lied, have also been to my hairdresser twice since March. Not a pleasurable experience.

Loads.

Partner and child.
My parents.
Brother and sister in law.
My 3 nephews.
My inlaws.
My partner's 100 year old grannie (on her insistence).
Best friend and her two children.
Partner's best friend and his wife.
Their two children.
Next door neighbour x 2 (elbow bump)
Friend when he was helping me put up a slackline.
Lots of friends of my child's - on swings, playdates, parties.
Between 40 and 50 children at school.
A couple of colleagues while doing physical jobs together - putting gym equipment away etc.

I'm quite happy that the welcome hug with people I don't want to hug has died a death, but I've touched people in loads of ways. Nearly always outdoors though, apart from work related stuff and my parents when we were on holiday together.

Ah - also:

Hairdresser - thrice
Physiotherapist - thrice
Several people in supermarkets who have helped me reach things
My GP
Breast clinic consultant
Radiographer at mammogram

ohthegoats · 24/10/2020 18:45

Oops - I've also been to the dentist.

To be honest, it's not been that different to normal - I'm not a massively touchy feely person, most of the touch above has been about active stuff - pulling people onto boats, pushing kids on surf boards, helping climbers, putting up equipment - or medical.

2 outside of my household
I’ve hugged my mum and dad a few times
We meet in the garden and we hug after we see each other

ReceptionTA · 24/10/2020 18:53

DH and DC, and 30 small children.

My hairdresser has touched me.

Oh, and a colleague who left recently who insisted on hugging us all. I've always avoided hugging anyway, so wasn't too pleased.

happytoday73 · 24/10/2020 18:53

My husband and kids. My elderly neighbour- I hugged him when he came over to tell me his wife had suddenly died.

My hairdresser touched my arm in passing... It felt odd.

I miss hugging my parents
